2016 CHISHOLM TOUR UNBOUGHT UNBOSSED

In November of 1968, Shirley Chisholm our very own soror set forth a blazing trail when she became the first African-American Woman elected to Congress. Her place in history is solidified through her tireless efforts to advocate for the voiceless and empower people of color, particularly women to exercise their right to vote and remain engaged in the process. In 1972 she became the first African-American woman to run for President of the United States. Let's re-ignite the spirit of Rep. Shirley Chisholm by engaging our campuses and communities in the issues that impact our daily lives. Let's raise the standard and take responsibility by doing what Rep. Chisholm is most known for saying "You don't make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas." Join the National Collegiate Leadership Team as we launch the Chisholm Tour Initiative. We will discuss examples of how to implement ideas as millennial voters by increasing access to information. We have great hopes to increase the voter turnout of millennials, engage our community and keep candidates accountable to policies that align with Delta Sigma Theta's 5 Point Thrust.
