The Last Show of the Shopping Trolley gallery
A Mail Art Show organized by

EMANATIONS
At the beginning of my Mail Art activities an art display on my shopping trolley worked very well for quite a while but then the artwork became more than what the Shopping Trolley Gallery could carry in one go. In the photo, taken during one of its rounds, the trolley is displaying its maximum load. The Last Show confirmed the inability of the STG, and myself, to cope with the quantity of Art received. For this show a hundred and forty artists sent pieces of art, mostly postcards, and quite a few of them sent several.
It was necessary to make several group shows which took over a year to display, in monthly hangings. All of the individual shows looked fantastic, thanks to the artists who worked very hard to make it such a success. I am very touched that so many friends supported my last show in the Shopping Trolley Gallery.
Eventually the show was mounted on fourteen posters as shown in the photo above. These are now archived in the Museum of Modern Art, Snailmail-on-Sea, in the United Queendom of Retailia.
The Last Show, now encapsulated, was also displayed at the front of the Tate Britain on January 3,2009, during the Field Study International meeting. MailArtMartha

We paraded with the posters along the road.
Then off to lunch to a nearby pub. As usual we had great fun although we discussed serious topics as well, like the end of an era in Mail Art. No, not the loss of the STG but of President Bush, a great problem for many of us for whom he provided a wealth of opportunities for political comment and jokes.
