MAZAL TOV CALEV

This is the last MC Newsletter of the school year, (thanks for your readership) see inside:  Pictures from Field-Day at Thatcher Park  Last Days of Learning this school year special Siyum mini-outings We’ll have an MC next week to share all the things we couldn’t get in this week, including:  Moving Up Day  HS Projects on Elie Wiesel’s “Night”  The 8th Grade Boston Trip  Wonderful Graduation Speeches Excerpts

On his Bar-Mitzvah! We wish him much mazal and Bracha, happiness and success, and the Ehrlich family much Nachas.

KEEP IT UP! UP! UP! This picture is from a “Wacky Olympics” game at the Thatcher Park Field Day last week. The goal of the game was to keep that giant beach ball up in the air and not let it come down. What a great life message! Our goal is to stay positive and upbeat and not let issues in life pull us down. This was the theme of Moshe R’s graduation speech (see next week’s MC for excerpts of the speeches) based on their graduation trip to Boston. See page 3 for more Thatcher Park pictures, for who singlehandedly and multi-breathedly blew up that big ball and for another game played with it.

NEWTS IN NAVI AND ON TRAIL Younger grades (especially Mrs. Carroll’s students) were excited to find many (as many as 30+) orange Newts (baby salamanders) on the Red & Green Trail in Thatcher Park (see pictures on page 3). Mrs. Carroll’s students knew all about Newts from their science units and HS girls who helped chaperone that hike recalled what they learned with Morah Dini in Melachim (Kings) about King Hezekiah & Salamander Oil. There are always connections! This particular Newt close-up photo on the rocks was taken by the older students on the Indian Ladder Trail Hike.

GONE FISHIN’ Morah Dini and R’ Itche took the HS Girls fishing for Sunfish at the Six Mile Waterworks on Fuller Road on one evening last week. It was peaceful and pleasant, relaxing and fun. It’s amazing how you can turn off busy Fuller Rd and find this natural oasis just over the hill. A nice mini-getaway before they began a big week of NYS Regents testing.

END-OF-YEAR MINI-OUTINGS This past week many classes went out with their teachers on Siyum mini-outings, like the one above HS had with Morah Dini. See page 2 for a whole bunch of outings & good times.

BEST LINE AT GRADUATION There were lots of great speeches (see excerpts in next MC Newsletter) from our 8th graders, the High School graduates and from Amanda Toll, but the best single line was from Amiel’s speech: “Maimonides may be a small school, but it’s big where it counts!”

THE 3 KIDNAPPED TEENS #BringBackOurBoys: Our classes have been praying daily for the Eyal, Gilad & Naftali, the 3 kidnapped Israeli teens near Chevron. We also concluded Graduation ceremonies on Tuesday evening with a Psalm for their safe return. At his Wed night Bethlehem Chabad talk at the Normanside, engaging speaker David Nessenoff connected to the crowd with his non-stop humor, but also shared serious messages about dealing with anti-Jewish activities. One was this point: In captivity these 3 Yeshiva boys are unable to put on Tefillin as they would normally do each morning, so we should do so ourselves with them in mind!
