n order to solve the problems of leakage from the inspection plugs of aircoolers, VED designed special plugs and gaskets. The plug proposed by VED has a special design to reduce assembly errors, several due to the large amount of existing holes
on each unit, and offer the possibility to seal any leakages, during the unit in service, with Furmanite method or equivalent. The gasket proposed by VED is obtained by turning, and for metals different from soft iron, Armco iron, it has a particular torus section, such as to determine on the plug and on the sheet plug gasket’s seat the specific pressure higher and more regular along the circumference, without damaging the surface; section of Armco iron gaskets has normal rectangular section because

the material has good seating features, having an hardness value very low. In this way the seal is obtained with a predetermined tightening torque and not with values arbitrarily high that often cause problems to the Damaged Standard Plug and Gasket
integrity of the thread.
The model of the plugs proposed by VED is called “ASP” abbreviation of “Aircooler Special Plugs”, while the model of the gasket is called “ASG” abbreviation of “Aircooler Special Gaskets”.
Plugs ASP and Gaskets ASG have already been used with great success in Refineries and Chemical plants.
