MairĂŠad Hegarty 3DS Max In the first project created in 3DS Max, the requirements were to create a room with two walls,a table, window and an outdoor sceen. In this, greater knowledge of using the software was acquired. From arrays (for the blocks) to placing texture, this was a good project to get to grips with the basics of 3DS Max.

When the indoor scene was created, an outdoor viewlooking through the window was necessary. It was after creating both the initial scene and the outdoor view that the use of cameras and lighting made the rendering of the scene look correct.

Another project in 3DS Max was to create a fruit bowl containing fruit and sitting besidean empty wine glass. It was in this project that UV Mapping and the lathe tool was used for the first time.

With the use of a pool table and balls that were given to the class, the aim was to animate a snooker cue being used and the cue ball hitting off another ball and off the cushion of the table. Camera use was very important in this assignment as it needed to follow along a path to follow the movement of the cue ball. All of this was edited in Premier Pro.

Development This was my first attempt at building a website. The pictures used are what the organisers provided and the colours represent the local gaa club. To find a suitable colour palette, Adobe Kuler was used. This was a great introduction to web design because it afforded me the opportunity to learn by doing.

Development An example of a second website that was designed which is responsive so it can be viewed on any mobile device at an appropriate size and structure.

Java Script

MairÊad Hegarty This is a simple form made in HTML that took in the user’s details. Using JavaScript and JQuery, the information was stored in cookies and a second page allowed the user to decorate the christmas tree.

This is a continuation of the Christmas Tree project, in this page one can see that using the jQuery ‘draggable’, the user can drag the decorations on to the Christmas tree.

Digital Video

MairĂŠad Hegarty Premier Pro Editor This was the first time Premier Pro was used and the best way to learn it was to start working with it and figuring it out. Premier Pro was very enjoyable to use, not only in editing what was filmed but by adding the music and reversing scenes too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwxeTEhMH7k&feature=youtu.be

Camera Being responsible for part of the filming was not as easy as first expected. Again, this camera work was learned by practice and by making mistakes initially. As always, a tripod is invaluable and a good eye of the director makes the camerawork less arduous. https://youtu.be/MRkS7OHGFYg

Digital Video

MairĂŠad Hegarty Director Directing a short piece was the next challenge in Digital Video. From doing a storyboard of the scenes to making sure the continuity always remained exact, this was a challenging piece to direct. It was very enjoyable and the role of director was a role that I surprisingly found to be something I would like to do again.

Interactive Design

MairĂŠad Hegarty Adobe Illustrator/ Photoshop The two logos that can be seen on the left were created in Adobe Illustrator. The brief asked that a suitable logo would be created for a knitwear designer. The Designer provided a number of images of her creations and from those images and the design brief, I created these two logos.

The first project undertaken in Photoshop was to takean image and a title of a page in Wikipedia, then combine both to make what looked like an album cover. The image was only allowed to be whatever was the first image that was found in flicker.

As Illustrator and Photoshop are 100% self-taught, my skill level is in it’s infancy but I am endevouring to learn as much as possible and to become adobe certified in the coming months.

MairĂŠad Hegarty Below are some images of creations I have made through crochet, sewing or just simply crafting. Crochet especially is of great interest to me. It is a great way to relax, it is very theraputic. From Teddys to Christmas Trees, there is always something to make. I like to follow patterns and love to get stuck in to a very challenging one. Somethimes I do like to create my own things too like that purse for example. The button Baubles was also my own creation.
