ALL ABOUT WOMEN
SATELLITE SESSIONS LIVE FROM SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE Don’t miss headline sessions from the All About Women festival streamed live to Maitland Town Hall from Sydney Opera House. Designed to make you think and push your boundaries, All About Women is a vibrant day that asks questions about gender, justice and equality. Presented by Maitland City Library in partnership with Sydney Opera House. 1.15PM – 2.30PM #METOO, YEAR TWO Panel - Emily Steel, Sohaila Abdulali and Tina Tchen, moderated by Lenore Taylor. A decade since the Me Too campaign began, and a year since #metoo rocked the entertainment industry, there has been a clear cultural shift. Has this impacted on the way power functions, or is it temporary and superficial? This accomplished panel will explore how the movement must evolve to represent women worldwide and create long lasting cultural and political change.
3.00PM – 4.00PM FEMINISM IN THE ARAB WORLD Panel - Aya Chebbi, Dima Matta and Randa Abdel-Fattah, moderated by Sara Saleh In a global feminist movement, our understanding of women’s rights needs to extend beyond the English speaking world. Going far beyond stereotypes, this is an invaluable insight into the underground of feminist activism across the Arab world.

In her book, Accidental Feminists, she tells the story of the everyday women of her era, a generation of women who revolutionised the world. Although they rarely identified as feminists and didn’t intend to change to world, they were the first in history to be in paid work for most of their lives and have financial independence. Jane Caro is an author, novelist, broadcaster, columnist, advertising writer and social commentator. She appears regularly in the media commentating on feminism and education and was the recipient of the Walkley Award for Women’s Leadership in 2018.
