Welcome to your TPAS e-learning course This getting started guide will help you find your way around the course and the TPAS e-learning site. If you're unsure about anything, use the Comments box to ask a question. (More about Comments later on page 15.)

Opening a course topic

First: say Hello!
For example, before you begin tackling the course content, you need to introduce yourself to your trainer and fellow learners in the 'Welcome' discussion forum.
In a discussion forum

Reply to a discussion
Type your reply in the text input field. When you post it to the forum it will appear in the discussion for everyone on the course to read.

Your reply displayed
If you want to edit your reply, you have 30 minutes to make changes before the system sends an email to you, your trainer and other learners telling them that you've replied to the discussion.
Ticked done
The system will automatically tick activities that you've attempted or completed.

First topic opens
Now the first topic opens, it's no longer greyed out, and you can get on with the course.
Getting to know you
On any course, it's always good to get to know each other. Your learner profile helps people get to know you, including your trainer. Wherever you see your name you can click on it to go to your personal profile page.

Add as much information as you want to share with your trainer and people on your course.

Follow the instructions to upload a profile picture from your computer.

Navigation - finding your way around
Use the 'breadcrumb' navigation bar to move around the course.

Finding your course on your home page
On your home page you'll find links to the course or courses you are enrolled on.
Starting a Quiz
Any grade or score that you achieve in a quiz is for information or self-assessment only, it does not count towards you passing the course. Only the Assessment Tasks count towards the OCN Accreditation.

Quiz questions example
You'll come across a variety of different types of questions - e.g. true/false, multiple choice, short written answers...
Quiz navigation shows questions done
When you've attempted a question, the question number is filled in grey.
Flag a question
You can flag a question if, for example, you want to come back to it later.

This confirms you want to finish this attempt, but you can try the quiz again as many times as you like.

Now the quiz navigation shows which answers you got right (green) and which wrong (red).

You will also see full detailed feedback for each question, helping you learn.

Communicating with others
You can see who else is on the course, including your trainer, and communicate with them through comments.

Deleting your own comments
Disappearing course sections - Help!
If you find that sections of your course have mysteriously disappeared, it's probably because you clicked on the symbol shown above by mistake. It hides other course sections (topics). Simply click on it again to make all the course contents reappear.

Zoom out for smaller computer screens
If you're working on a computer with a smaller screen, e.g. a Netbook, you may need to zoom out to see all of the content of some presentations. Press the key combinations shown above to zoom in and out.
Logging out
When you've finished for the day, log out.
