Our Achievements
Strategic Objective 1: To develop, Diversify and Brand Kenya’s Export Products
Under this strategic objective, the Agency seeks to develop new product lines to widen Kenya’s export basket to increase foreign exchange. The Agency facilitates branding of both the existing and newly developed products with the mark of identity to demonstrate originality of such products and project the Kenya’s image as a source of high quality products. Such knowledge will increase preference of Kenya’s export products by the international buyers. In the period under reporting, the Agency achieved the following:
a) Product researches and supply surveys for Kenyan products
While the Agency appreciates contribution of all export products in the growth of the economy, there was need to maximize on the products in which Kenya has the highest comparative advantage while at the same time focusing on products that registered highest export potential and continual increase in demand. Through a number of criteria including product export performance, supply capacity, Global demand, level of value addition, Prioritization in the Integrated National Export Development and Promotion Strategy and conformity to rules of origin. Nineteen (19) export products were prioritized as summarized below.
b) Enhance the Value Proposition for Kenya’s Prioritized Products
The Agency leveraged on the Made in Kenya Campaign in which 23 companies adopted the mark of Identity for use on their products, for promotion of the Buy Kenya Build Kenya strategy.
