Product Development The Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency team has commenced phase 1 of the instructive training workshops on product development for export-ready Made in Kenya products. The workshops aim to equip entrepreneurs on conceptualization, design and development of packaging materials, branding and certification of newly created or newly rebranded goods or services. Phase 1 will see the Agency engage with enterprises in Kiambu, Nyandarua, Machakos and Uasin Gishu Counties.

LEVERAGING ON TECHNOLOGY TO PROMOTE KENYA’S EXPORTS Eportal for Exports As a strategic response to the challenges occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency is leveraging on information technology to promote exports. The Agency has developed a robust e-commerce platform that will link Kenyan exporters to buyers from across the world. The Platform targets Kenyan sellers who include manufacturers, farmers, traders, SMEs, marketing agencies, and international buyers who include importers, agents, retailers, and wholesalers. It shall enlist all verified Kenyan exporters and their list of products. It will also have accurate, relevant and up to date information to promote Kenya as

the destination of choice for export, trade, investment and tourism.

Promoting Kenya’s Exports Via Ecommerce Platforms The Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency is leveraging on technology to promote Kenya’s exports. The agency is facilitating Kenyan exporters to promote and sell their products on Alibaba, eBay, JD.COM, Jumia and Amazon. The platform will provide an opportunity to increase our customer base by penetrating existing markets and accessing new ones. African Continental Free Trade Area Nairobi Forum

KEROBA participated in the Nairobi Forum of the African Continental Free trade Area(AfCFTA) that outlined existing opportunities and new trade roadmaps available for MSMEs through the continental trade agreement to grow their businesses. Discussions also took into account the current global context affecting trade mechanisms such as COVID-19 and the need for more public-private dialogue to realize the AfCFTA. The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement will create the largest free trade area in the world measured by the number of countries participating. The pact connects 1.3 billion people across 55 countries with a combined gross domestic product (GDP) valued at US$3.4 trillion. It has the potential to lift 30 million people out of extreme poverty.

UPSKILLING EXPORTERS TO MEET INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS The Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency partnered with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) University of Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta University - JKUAT Numerical Machining Complex Ltd. to build skills for entrepreneurs to ensure that their export products meet international standards.

Launch of the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) Strategy The Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA) launched a year-long Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) strategy to help boost Kenya’s horticultural exports in order to achieve 10 percent export growth in 2020-2021.The strategy was developed by KEPROBA and horticultural sector players Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya (FPEAK), Kenya Flower Council, Fresh Produce Consortium of Kenya (FPC KENYA) and Kenya Airways. The IMC Strategy will work towards achieving a coordinated communication program that is customer-focused and consistent thus creating a competitive advantage for the Kenya’s horticultural produce.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT KEPROBA Visited Nyeri County and toured exports-oriented projects such as the New KCC Nyeri Plant and the National Trout Hatchery.

Building Teamwork KEPROBA staff held a three-day teambuilding exercise at the Lake Naivasha resort. The annual event aims to enhance cooperation , cohesion and unity of purpose within the organization. The exercise involved indoor and outdoor sessions.
