Digital Textiles // Fall 2014 Makenzie Brown

Routine, repetition, familiarity. These are patterns that run through our lives, easing the realities of change and adaptation. Our brains are drawn to the familiarity of repetition, and consistency means security in the scattered, fast paced, and dynamic world that we live in. Visually, patterns are easily digested and interpereted by the brain. Patterns can be at once pleasing and complex. My work draws upon the dynamism of the pattern, yet subtly challenges the viewer to make sense of inconsistencies and obscurities in an image.
