Fish Fry Day Starts With a Grand Parade

“Fish Fry Day” is

what the locals call Friday of Fish Fry Week. It all gets started with a Grand Parade. The Grand Parade this year will begin at 10am, April 25th, on East Wood Street.

The Jaycees have renamed the parade in dedication to long time Jaycee and Parade Coordinator, Dwayne Baldwin. His service and dedication to the World's Biggest Fish Fry will forever remain as an example of a good Henry County Jaycee. It is now known as the Dwayne Baldwin

Grand Parade. The sheer volume of participants are what make this parade so grand.

Floats, bands, cars, trucks, even boats line up to be a part of the big time. Entries come from

the surrounding counties to compete for trophies for the best float and best marching band. The competition is usually fierce.

The Jaycees have not changed

the route this year so everyone knows just where to go and the best place to park to see the whole thing. It is important to remember not to block driveways along the parade

route. They usually start shutting down streets around 9am so it is best to arrive early and get your favorite spot. The Grand Parade begins on Wood Street close to the East Wood Church of Christ and heads East to Fairgrounds Rd.,

where it makes a right and heads to The Fish Fry parking area where the parade ends. As usual bands will meet and line up at Ogburn Park, located directly behind the East Wood Church of Christ. Floats will line up on East

Wood Street and other vehicles will remain in the Church parking lot until they are directed to join the procession. Also, the horses will be unloaded at the lower level of Ogburn Park. Regardless of your number in the parade you will proceed in the order that you arrived. This is to cut down on confusion, unnecessary congestion and to make the flow easier for all involved. For safety purposes no candy will be thrown from floats into the crowd, there will be no fire works or poppers permitted in the Grand Parade. All judging will be done prior to

It Takes a Village to Fry Tons & Tons of Catfish

They call it the World's Biggest Fish Fry for a really good reason. The Henry County Jaycees and their helpers fry tons and tons of catfish! When the Robert E. “Bobby” Cox Memorial Fish Tent opens, your mouth starts watering and nothing will stop it until you sit down with a plate of that delicious goodness!

The Fish Tent is not only the center point of the World's Biggest Fish Fry it is chock full of good ole' Henry County Traditions. Starting with the name –in the early Fish Fry days everyone ate under tents in downtown Paris and Mr. Bobby Cox was the man with the plan to oversee that it all got taken care of. Now the fish is served in a beautiful air conditioned facility at the Henry County Fairgrounds but is still referred to as the Fish Tent and named for everyone's buddy, Bobby.

Other traditions that the Fish Fry still keep is that the fish is served by the community to it friends, family and visitors. Civic organizations, community leaders, churches and other volunteer groups sign up every year to stand in line and pass out catfish, hush puppies and dip out white beans. One of the most cherished traditions is the tossing of the first hush puppy. Each

year the Hostess Princess, tosses out the first hush puppy to a member of her family and thus begins the eating of the catfish!

The Fish Tent will open at 5pm on Wednesday, April 23rd. Keep in mind that Fish Fry week may start on Monday but the fish isn't served until Wednesday. The Fish Tent hours for the remainder of the week are 11am to 9pm, Thursday,

Friday and Saturday, April 24th, 25th and 26th.

The World's Biggest Fish Fry menu will include fresh fried catfish, hush puppies, french fries, white beans, vinegar and mayo cole slaw and a cold drink. You get all-you-can-eat for only $20. Children ages between 6 – 12 years old will eat for only $12. Allyou-can-eat is only available to customers that

dine in. Take out containers will be available. For your convenience you may pay with cash or card at the Fish Tent.

The 2025 World's Biggest Fish Fry Fish Tent is the heart of the entire event. The Henry County Jaycees and various volunteers fry the fish and make the hush puppies. Different churches donate the delicious white beans and everyone helps

keep the Fish Tent clean!

The Fish Fry is a project that truly takes a village to make happen. Henry County is that village. There may be a lot of things going on at The World's Biggest Fish Fry. But there is only one thing you better not miss! The Fish Tent!! They don't call it a Fish Fry for nothing! Get all you can eat and enjoy yourself!
