You Did What?!
Malia Griggs | Risk Taker “I don’t like roller coasters and I can’t ride a bike. So, if there’s no threat of me throwing up, why not?” says Malia. Going for it has proved rewarding for the University of South Carolina senior who graduates this month: she’s been editor-in-chief of Garnet & Black, interned for Redbook, and is blog editor for Mochi, a magazine for Asian-American girls. An anthropology major, Malia enrolled in USC’s Lady Gaga class, then wrote about it for The Huffington Post. Still, even she was a little taken aback by her blind date online for HowAboutWe.com. “I knew my friends would have a field day. And they did,” she says. Friends—and strangers—watched, made comments, even suggested things for Malia to do. After her extreme experience, Malia offers this blind dating advice: “Smile a lot. And don’t take yourself too seriously.” Photo by Molly Harrell
