Lake Bled Golf & Country Club Kings Course Designed by Donald Harradine • Par 73 • 18 holes • 6,406 yards

The 18 hole Kings Course dates back to 1937, making Bled Golf and Country Club, Slovenia’s oldest golf course and it is still widely considered to be one of the most beautiful golf courses in central Europe. The 9 hole Lake Course opened more recently in 1993 and features a more contemporary design with some tricky water hazards for good measure.

The King’s requires careful strategy, despite the absence of water, and although it’s sited in a mountainous region, the course is not particularly hilly. The fairways are lined with dense woodland and most players will find they’ll need to call on every club in the bag.

From the back tees, the track is a good length and the well-kept greens are not too fast and receive the ball well. The most breathtaking aspect of the King’s course is the scenery, and with the snow-topped mountains of the Julian Alps in the distance, the delightful forests that border the course, and a proliferation of wildlife to observe on the walk round, it really is more than just a golf course.
