First Time Ski/Board Pack For absolute beginners only, we’ve put together in one package all you will need for your first week on snow at a special introductory price. Bulgaria is known for its high standards of tuition, and the instructors will ensure that everyone has a great time. First Time Ski or Board packs are available in all resorts. Each pack includes the following: • 6 day hire of skis or snowboard and boots • 6 day lift pass • SKI: 6 days of ski lessons, 4 hours per day (2 hours per day for Slovenia) BOARD: minimum 3 days of board lessons, 2 hours per day (see resort pages) • Ski school test certificate and diploma presentation The “First Time Ski & Snowboard” packs are only applicable to beginners (first time skiers). SNOWBOARDING We offer pre-booked hire and tuition for periods of 3 or 6 days in most resorts. If you’ve never tried this sport before you’ll be pleased to know it has a quick learning curve, although after your first try, you’ll probably have picked up quite an interesting collection of aches and bruises. However don’t give up, as by day two, having learnt the basic manoeuvres, you’ll soon acquire the confidence and control to start getting to grips with the sport. Hire and tuition prices are so cheap you’ve nothing to lose.

Our rating system will help identify how suitable each resort is for the different levels of ability based on the difficulty of the runs. The matrix below contains all the basic facts needed to ensure you choose the right resort for the type of holiday you want, and the level of skills you have.

Borovets

Beginners A beginner is classified as someone who is taking their first steps on the slopes. There is a great temptation amongst a lot of beginners to try to move on as quickly as possible, but it’s worth remembering that those who learn all the basics properly get far more enjoyment out of their holiday.

Intermediates No two "Intermediates" will be the same, as the term covers a vast range of ability. All intermediates however should be at home on a blue (easy) run and confident enough on a red (medium) run. They will have had at least a couple of weeks in Ski School, and will be able to perform linked turns and reasonable

parallel turns. We would strongly recommend some additional lessons with professional ski/snowboard instructors because there is still a lot to learn as wrong techniques and bad habits picked up at this stage are very hard to get rid of.

We employ local people as representatives and guides in our ski resorts, so not only will they give you excellent advice and help while you are on holiday, but it provides jobs for the local community. In our head office we ensure we recycle all our paper, cardboard and plastic, plus we have reduced the number of brochures we print, recycling any left over at the end of each season. We care about our world and are doing all we can to reduce the impact our holidays have on it.

Advanced An advanced skier/boarder will be at home on any terrain, be it on or off piste, and will always be in complete control. It is true to say that whilst none of the ski resorts featured in our brochure offer particularly extensive skiing, there is plenty to keep even an expert happy. Some of the most challenging ski runs you will find are in Bansko and Borovets.

However, for extra security, we offer holiday insurance or a piste closure policy which include the following guarantee for resorts over 1000 metres only: if there is no downhill skiing at all in your resort because of a lack of snow, you will be paid £20 for each day’s skiing lost up to a maximum of 10 days. Old meets new in the up and coming Bulgarian resort of Bansko, where modern hotels rise above little fortified houses. A unique town centre with its quaint cobbled streets, where you can still hear the local Bansko dialect being used, and an old clock tower, where the bell has been measuring the hours for over 150 years. Skiers of all abilities are well catered for as Bansko has over 75 kilometres of marked ski runs, which are easily accessed by the modern gondola lift. As the day draws to a close, Après-ski is centred around the local “Mehanas”, friendly taverna type restaurants serving traditional Bulgarian cuisine and drinks, often with roaring log fires and live entertainment. For a truly enjoyable winter sports holiday, enhanced by warm Bulgarian hospitality, visit Bansko where you really can have the best of both worlds. During recent years, Bansko’s ski area has been continuously improved with new six-man and four-man chair lifts, a snowboarders’ half pipe facility, a fun park and a floodlit ski run that allows you to ski all the way to the edge of the town. Other improvements include snow cannons covering more than 90% of the skiing area, extra maintenance vehicles to keep the slopes in the best possible condition and extra safety installations.

PERFECT SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING In less than 20 minutes a fast gondola cable lift will take you to the modern ski centre, situated on the upper slopes. At the end of the day it is up to you to decide whether to return on the gondola or ski/board down the ski road, which marks Bansko as one of the few resorts in the world to offer this option. Bansko boasts having 90% of its slopes covered by snow cannons and these slopes are serviced by a number of chair lifts and drag lifts, including a four man chair lift with bubble shields to protect you from harsh weather conditions. Another attractive feature of this modern resort is the easy hands-free access to all lifts by SkiData chip-card ski passes. In addition to the on piste skiing, Bansko offers extreme winter sports fans a halfpipe for both skiers and snowboarders to show off their latest tricks, and a “Fun Park” full of artificial bumps and jumps. For those who do not have their own ski or

snowboard gear, you can pre-book from a choice of more than 2800 pairs of skis and more than 550 snowboards, all of which are the latest models by Atomic and Salomon. Last but by no means least, Bansko offers a unique 16 km uninterrupted run starting from Todorka Peak, the highest point in Bansko, with numerous pistes all the way down to the base station of the gondola lift. All the pistes are equipped with artificial snow machines to ensure a great skiing/boarding experience even in warmer conditions. At the end of the day there is a ski road that enables you to ski/board right into the town of Bansko.

Bansko is a great place for first-time skiers and snowboarders, with the ULEN ski-school having some of Bulgaria’s best instructors, and the ULEN Rent-a-ski offering the latest in ski and snowboard equipment. While some red runs and the Alberto Tomba black run should keep most experts busy, Bansko is probably more popular with experts for its great offerings of extreme and powder skiing. The ski and snowboard fun-park area and the half-pipe facility are popular playgrounds for experts to boast their latest tricks. Powder skiing, heli-skiing and paragliding are also available locally and can be booked through the ULEN ski-school office in the resort. INTERMEDIATE An array of blue and red runs suitable for intermediate skiers/boarders makes this resort a very good choice for both those committed to becoming experts, as well as for those who take up winter sports merely as a recreational activity. BIATHLON AND CROSS COUNTRY Bansko, with its biathlon and cross-country trails, is also the choice of Irina Nikulchina and Nina Kadeva, two Bulgarian women that are among the world’s top ten biathlon racers.

SKI LIFTS WORKING HOURS & SKI GUIDES

Lift ticket (to ski Club), badge, fun pack and Special club card allowing members further discounts with their next holiday in Bansko. Open daily, 7 days a week, from 9am to 4.30pm and located right by the slopes at the top of the gondola lift. For children 4-7 years.

Rates include Expert supervision, snow play, lift tickets to the club, daily tuition (1 hour per day), skis, sticks, boots, lunch (full day only) and all in an atmosphere where the emphasis is on fun. Club bookings are paid for on the spot. Please advise your requirements at the time of booking, so that resorts can be informed well in advance as we can not guarantee free places will be available at any later time. The lift system operates from 8:30am till 4:30pm each day. Ski guides can be hired for intermediate and advanced skiers for off-piste skiing. A full day guiding service is also available to snowboarders.

SKIING AFTER SUNSET Night skiing allows skiers and snowboarders to relax after a hard day on the runs in one of the dining establishments in the Banderitsa area and then, after sunset, ski down the unique 7 km floodlit ski run to town in the company of experienced ski and snowboard instructors. Night skiing can be purchased on weekdays through your holiday representative.

EXCURSIONS In addition to pub-crawling in the local taverns of Bansko, a number of excursions to nearby sites of interest, such as the Rila Monastery and exciting après-ski activities can be booked with your local representatives in the resort for a truly memorable holiday.

Among other Bulgarian mountain resorts, Bansko offers what is probably the most lively après-ski, because it is a combination of a modern mountain resort and a living rustic town with a population of about 10,000 people. Almost a hundred “mehana” dining places offer traditional local cuisine dishes, such as “kapama” or “Banski starets” in the atmosphere of traditional songs and dances, performed by local artists. Besides the famous local church, St. Trinity, there are many historical, architectural, and cultural monuments in Bansko, including the houses of many famous Bulgarians from the period of the Bulgarian Revival. There is also an ice-skating rink conveniently situated on the way to the gondola lift and just next door to Hotel Strazhite.

Bansko’s most popular hangout for night birds is the Amnesia disco club, which features popular music in a relaxed atmosphere. At the end of the day, for a truly happy ending, the Happy End restaurant by the gondola base station turns into a night club which lively atmosphere is only rivalled by the Amnesia discotheque in the centre of town. Other clubs, such as the Buddha Bar club and No Name discotheque, add a modern flavour to this town of otherwise conservative moods. Bansko’s nightlife is completed by a wide selection of pubs and bars offering variety of cocktails, live music and karaoke. For a quieter night out the Bowling arena in hotel Strazhite might be a very good alternative.

As Bansko is a small town and not just a resort area, there are plenty of shops. The old town is worth exploring for more traditional feel and lovely local souvenirs to surprise your family and friends with back home

In the winter, this provides an ideal combination of plenty of snow with plenty of sunshine. Pamporovo is set high in the Rhodopi Mountains, amongst magnificent pine forests and is tailor-made for winter sports. After a great day’s skiing, the après-ski in Pamporovo is fun and inexpensive with lively bars and discos, while for those wanting to sample a bit of true Bulgarian life, they can head to one of the many local folk restaurants to try the local specialities accompanied by some popular Bulgarian wine.

bEGINNERS

SNOwbOARDING

The ski school at Pamporovo is internationally renowned, and is geared to provide the best possible start for beginners. There’s tuition for four hours a day, six days a week, with ski fitting, class arranging, etc. The school meets in the Malina region, just a few minutes bus drive from the centre of the resort. There are several drag lifts on the nursery slopes, but beginners will be heading for the higher slopes on the mountain long before the week is out.

Pamporovo is great for snowboarding as the nursery slopes are suitable for perfecting the techniques you can later practice on the slopes further up the mountain! Board hire, soft boots, lift pass and instruction for ages 13+ years can be booked. Please see price grid.

SkI LIFTS wORkING HOuRS All ski lifts operate from 8:30am till 4:30pm each day with each lift closed for half a day a week and one full day per month for technical checks.

INTERMEDIATES

APRèS-SkI

The 37 km of marked piste really suits the intermediate skier. The triple chairlift from the Malina station to the top of Snezhanka peak can handle over 1,800 skiers an hour, which makes short work of any queues. Alternatively, a single chair runs to the middle station, from where the new four man lift runs up to the peak.

Après-ski in Pamporovo is fun and inexpensive and there are discos and a number of lively bars available. While you are in Pamporovo, you really should sample the delights of the local folk restaurants that serve traditional Rhodopi specialities with some extremely palatable Bulgarian wines. In addition, there is always the ever popular Diploma Presentation Evening.

ADvANCED Advanced skiers can take the drag lift from the middle station which runs up the side of "The Wall". This is Pamporovo’s most exciting run, difficult, steep with mogul, and there’s an international slalom too.

CROSS COuNTRY Pamporovo is especially suitable for cross country with its dedicated 4, 16 and 18 km marked tracks - all worth exploring.

Borovets is as well known for its great nightlife as it is for its fantastic skiing/boarding, and there are very few other places around where you can stay out until 4 in the morning at prices which are a lot less than you would expect to pay in a club back home. For those who prefer their nightlife a little more subdued and perhaps have a yearning to learn about Bulgaria’s varied folk traditions, there are regular folklore evenings and even a visit to a genuine Bulgarian home for a taste of home cooking and entertainment. The main nightclubs are at the Samokov and Rila hotels where you will find music to dance the night away.

NIGHTLIFE There are plenty of restaurants and bars from cosy inns with log fire to busy bars with loud music and dancing. There are also many nightclubs, dotted around the resort. Wherever you go, the atmosphere in all venues is fantastic, with people from all over Europe mixing together and having a great time.

EXCURSIONS BEGINNERS

ADVANCED

The Borovets ski school enjoys an excellent reputation where the friendly, helpful instructors make learning a pleasure and success guaranteed. Beginners start the week on the nursery slopes outside Hotel Rila but by the end of the week everyone is heading for the gondola lift and trying something a little more challenging.

Advanced skiers/boarders can test their skills on the World Cup Competition run and enjoy skiing/boarding on the more difficult intermediate runs. There are opportunities for off-piste enthusiasts and more than enough diversions available to keep the most avid "professional" busy.

INTERMEDIATES

All ski lifts operate between 8.45am-4.30pm and are closed for half a day each week, and one full day each month for technical checks.

The choices for the intermediates are wide and various, with excellent skiing/boarding in the exciting Yastrebets and Markoudjik areas. The well-planned lift system includes the 5 km, 6-person Yastrebets gondola lift, which opens up a wealth of enjoyable runs, ranging from wide sunny boulevards in the Musala basin, to scenic looping trails through the trees. From the gondola taking you to the top you can try one of the longest downhill runs in Bulgaria, as well as some great skiing on the slopes of the wind-free basin underneath Musala peak.

If you have aching limbs after a few days on the slopes, why not try one of our excursions. You can take a full or half day trip to Sofia, Plovdiv or the fascinating Rila Monastery. SHOPS There is a wide variety of shops, stalls and kiosks in the village centre. The shops in the Hotel Rila and Samokov sell branded ski wear and other clothes, souvenirs, and snacks. The stalls, situated along the main street, sell a variety of skis, ski clothing, clothes, CDs and souvenirs.

MEDICAL ARRANGEMENTS In Borovets there is a round-the-clock mountain rescue service, ambulance, clinic (with doctor and nurse) plus first aid service on all ski slopes; X-ray facilities are also available in Borovets and the town of Samokov. Please note: Some medical services must be paid for locally in cash. They will provide receipts to enable you to claim back from your insurance company once you get back to the UK.

INTERMEDIATES The great variety of well-marked red runs and compact system of chair and drag lifts make all of the resorts ideal for improving your skiing confidence. Intermediates will find interesting skiing on Mt. Vitranc or on the shorter wooded slopes down towards Podkoren. Alpine skiers and snowboarders can test the Zlatnik slope and the more challenging runs on Kobla and Vogel.

ADVANCED Experienced skiers should head for the steep black runs of the Podkoren Mountain, situated 3 km to the west of Kranjska Gora, for a chance to tackle the World Cup Slalom run. High above the Bohinj lake towers Mount Vogel, one of the highest alpine ski centres. It has an excellent 8.5 km run going over the back of the mountain and descending to the magnificent lakeside area below.

WORLD CUP ALPINE SKIING - VITRANC CUP Kranjska Gora owes its reputation as a first class ski resort to its World Cup alpine skiing races. Each winter the steep slopes of Mount Vitranc host two World Cup events in the alpine - men’s slalom and giant slalom.

SNOWBOARDING Kranjska Gora is a great place for beginners and there is some excellent tuition available. The area around Bled and Bohinj offers some interesting terrain for freeriders and the chance to try some adventurous jumps.

CROSS COUNTRY It is no exaggeration to say that this is the place for cross country skiing. There is the world renown 40 km trail which starts from Kranjska Gora, goes into Italy and Austria before returning to Kranjska Gora. A variety of tracks are marked in the vicinity of Bled centre and there is also a lovely 10 km cross country run extending from Bohinjska Bistrica to the impressive Bohinj Lake. Numerous trails in Vogel, the Pokliunk Plateau and Rubno Polje host the Country Skiing World Cup each year and over 60 km of well maintained trails are open to visitors.

DOG SLEDGE RACES Kranjska Gora has joined the company of several famous ski resorts in organising sled dog races - an exciting experience for both competitors and spectators.

SLEDGING Sledging is a great way to end a fun-filled day in the snow, an activity not to be missed if you want to truly

experience Kranjska Gora. The terrain vehicles will bring you below the three borders or the Vrsic pass.

SNOWMOBILING Snowmobiles can be hired in Kranjska Gora just for the fun of it, for tours along a maintained circular route, or for breathtaking panorama tours to the surroundings in the company of a guide.

ICE SKATING In the centre of Lake Bled there is an open air ice rink, as well as one in Kranjska Gora located near Hotel Prisank.

Après-ski Kranjska Gora is a great place to let your hair down after a hard day on the slopes. Its wonderful bars and restaurants offer a fantastic atmosphere at a fraction of the price you can expect to pay back home and if you fancy a flutter, you can try your luck at the local

casino. There are weekly ski parties, snow rafting and tobogganing. Beautifully complemented by its magical setting, Bled offers all the amenities of a modern ski resort - excellent choice of restaurants, lively bars, discos and even a casino for that extra bit of fun. When the water of the lake freezes over, you can go skating or take a short cut to the famous church in the middle of the lake.

General Information Baggage allowance & ski/board carriage Each carrier has weight and ski carriage limitations and we have to carefully control the amount of baggage and ski equipment you take on board. On all BH Air charter flights advertised in this brochure the allowance per person is: hold luggage up to 20 kg (certain carriers restricted to 1 piece), infants 10 kg, hand luggage - 1 piece weighing up to 5 kg (excluding infants). If you take your own skis / snowboard or boots on holiday, there are the following charges: For customers travelling to Bulgaria it is £30 per person (if you book early you can get 50% discount). This must be pre-booked, otherwise acceptance at the airport cannot be guaranteed. The ski / snowboard carriage (storage in resort not included, must be booked separately) allowance is 1 bag to hold a pair of boots and 2nd bag for either skis & poles or snowboard and the weight in total must not exceed 15 kg. PRE-BOOK YOUR AIRCRAFT SEATING If you pre-book your seats together at a cost of £10.00 per adult (£5.00 for children aged 2-11) you will be guaranteed that you can sit together. This service is available on our charter flights to Bulgaria only, and must be booked at least 4 days before departure. You will be informed of your seat number on arrival at check-in. Please note seats together may be across the aisle. Subject to availability specific seats numbers may be reserved at £15 per adult, £10 per child and front row seats are £30 per adult and £20 per child. EXTRA LEGROOM & EMERGENCY EXIT SEATS You can reserve extra legroom seats from £30.00 return per person. Some extra legroom seats are adjacent to the emergency exits. It is a Civil Aviation Authority requirement that customers aged 12 years and over occupy these seats. For safety reasons, these are only available to passengers who are able bodied and of suitable size. Extension seatbelts can not be provided on emergency exit rows. You must have no medical conditions and, in the opinion of the cabin crew or check-in staff, have the strength and full mobility to open the emergency exit door. Flight delays Unfortunately, flight delays do sometimes occur, these are beyond our control and as a tour operator, we cannot accept liability for any expenses incurred as a result. Under EU Law you are entitled to some compensation from the airline in certain cases, e.g. denied boarding or cancellation, and full details will be available at EU airports. Please note however that you are not entitled to a full refund of your holiday cost from us in these circumstances. In the event of a delay, we will do our best to help you and ensure that the delay is as short as possible. If a delay exceeds 3 hours, we will provide light refreshments; in the event of a delay exceeding 6 hours, a meal will be provided; and for longer delays exceeding 12 hours, overnight accommodation and meals at appropriate times will be provided. Please note that welfare provided is dependant on airport facilities available at the time. The above is without prejudice to your rights against the airline under the European Denied Boarding Regulations 261/2004. Holiday Information and evening meal; full board extra denotes breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Self-catering accommodation is provided with a kitchenette. In some hotels all meals are served buffet style, and when this is known in advance it is detailed in the brochure. HEALTH MATTERS A Department of Health leaflet (ref T4) "A Travellers Guide to Health" is available free from your doctor, travel agent, or by phoning free phone 02070081500. At the moment, certain vaccinations or inoculation may be recommended (although are not compulsory) for the countries featured in this brochure. Nonetheless, regulations are subject to change, and passengers are reminded that they are responsible for complying with entry and health requirements for all countries they intend to visit. Also, we feel we should point out that in some foreign countries general standards of hygiene, safety, public services and efficiency may differ from those in the UK, and changes in climate, diet and food preparation can lead to incidents of stomach upsets. Please therefore exercise greater care for your own protection and health in matters of hygiene and choice of food and drink. All the resorts we feature in Slovenia and Bulgaria have well equipped polyclinics. However, charges for first aid, treatments courses and medication can be substantial, and in the unfortunate event of you requiring medical treatment during your holiday, and incurring costs, it is well worth ensuring that you have adequate insurance. A “Winter Holiday Guide” will be provided along with your travel documents, please take a few moments to read this essential information. Your Safety - We have taken all reasonable care to make sure all aspects of your holiday run smoothly, and your safety and welfare whilst your are on holiday are no exception. We endeavour to make sure your accommodation and other services are provided by reputable suppliers. These suppliers should follow the local and national standards of the country where they are provided. Safety Standards: Safety standards can and do vary from one country to another, and may not be the same as those which can be found in the UK. We therefore recommend that on arrival at your accommodation, please take time to familiarise yourself with the layout of the property. Take particular notice of the fire safety instructions and emergency procedures. These should be posted at reception or in your room. If these are not present, please ask at reception. Swimming Pool: In most destinations, it is not a requirement to have a dedicated lifeguard in your holiday accommodation. It is therefore important that you and your party take the time to familiarise yourselves

EXTRAS TO PAY The following facilities will usually incur a local charge, unless otherwise stated in the hotel descriptions: Baby-sitting, tennis, table tennis, pool tables, safety deposit boxes, health centres, entry to discos / nightclubs, use of swimming pools, gymnasium / sauna etc. There is usually a small charge to pay for all public toilets, even those located in hotels. LATE DEALS The prices for this type of holiday are valid at the time of booking only and are subject to availability. HOTEL MEALS The board arrangement for each hotel or holiday is clearly shown in the hotel description. Bed and breakfast denotes bed and continental breakfast usually from a buffet selection. Half board denotes breakfast

with the pool and pool area. We ask that you are extra vigilant when travelling with children and that they are accompanied by an adult at all times whilst swimming. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with local regulations and swimming conditions. Children’s Safety: Balconies, lifts and swimming pools are just some of the areas accidents can occur when children are not properly supervised by their parents or legal guardians. We take reasonable care to make sure standards are as high as possible; however, before using any facilities provided for children, e.g. cots, we ask that you satisfy yourself that they are in good condition and up to the safety standards you would expect. Personal Safety: Although crime rates are low, as with any destination, tourists need to be extra vigilant when venturing into resort. This is most important in areas where large crowds of people may gather, such as markets and bazaars. Remember to keep valuables out of sight, or better still, most hotels will offer a safety deposit box for your peace of mind. Excursion Safety: We take all reasonable care and work closely with respected excursion providers to make sure the excursions they offer are safe and enjoyable and in accordance with local standards. However, your contract for any excursion whether pre-booked or booked in resort is with the excursion provider not Balkan Holidays and you will be bound by the actual providers’ terms and conditions. Should you choose to organise your own excursions or activities it is your responsibility to satisfy yourself that your insurance covers you for that activity. EARLY AND LATE SEASON HOLIDAYS Our prices show especially good holiday value early and late in the season. However, as you would expect, not all hotels, resort facilities, restaurants, night clubs and children's activities may be available at these times due to poor weather conditions and/or lack of support. Local suppliers reserve the right, subject to weather and visitors in resort, to either withdraw or reduce the services provided. This could be due to cleaning, renovation or as a result of local conditions and Balkan Holidays cannot be held responsible. Please also note that alternative hotels (of the same category to those booked or higher) may be provided without notice when the resorts are not full, or on occasion at other times. CURTAILMENTS Should you need to curtail your holiday, Balkan Holidays will endeavour to fly you back to the UK on the earliest possible flight with available seats. However this may not be to your original departure airport and Balkan Holidays cannot be liable for an onward transfer. In such circumstances it may be necessary to seek the assistance of your insurance company. Curtailment charge for a flight with BH AIR is £75.00, if your flight is with a scheduled airline, charges will depend on the terms and conditions of carriage of the airline in question.

Booking Conditions Your Commitment To Us 1. Making A Booking And Payment At the time of booking you are required to pay either a deposit, if your booking is made more than 8 weeks before departure, or the full cost of the package holiday together with any pre-booked extras shown separately on your booking confirmation if you book within 8 weeks of departure, plus insurance premium if required. The value of the deposit will be £140 per person for all holidays, with the exception of those travelling to Slovenia and on certain flights to Bulgaria, when the deposit will be increased depending on the airline and will vary by departure. The deposit is required for all persons who are two years of age and over at the time of return from the holiday; no deposit is payable for infants. When you make your booking you guarantee that you have the authority to accept the terms of these booking conditions on behalf of your party. As soon as the booking has been made, credit card authorisation for the deposit, or full payment if booking within 8 weeks of departure, will be cleared. We will then issue a confirmation invoice whereby a contract exists between us, and all conditions became binding on us both. If you book through one of our authorised travel agents, all monies paid to the agent in respect of a contract with an ATOL holder is at all times held by the agent on behalf of the ATOL holder (pipeline monies). No employee of this company has the right to vary these booking conditions. Your contract with Balkan Holidays is governed by English law and is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Any reference to a package holiday is a reference to a package as set out in the Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992. The person making the booking not only guarantees payment to us of the total cost of the holiday booked, but does so on behalf of and with the consent of all persons for whom the booking is completed. Payment by credit card for your holiday will incur a charge of 2% for each transaction (note 2.5% for American Express).The balance of the holiday cost must be paid no later than 8 weeks before departure. If the deposit or balance is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to treat the booking as cancelled by you and levy cancellation charges as laid out under condition number 3. Your contract is with Balkan Holidays Ltd, trading as Balkan Holidays, a member of ABTA (member No. V089X) and licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority (ATOL No. 0252). If the confirmation invoice is not exactly in accordance with your request, and / or the costing is incorrect, please notify us at once. If such notification is not received within 14 days of issue, we regret that it may harm your rights if we are not notified of any inaccuracies within 14 days of issuing your confirmation invoice. If the price shown on the invoice is incorrect compared to the applicable price, this will be deemed a mistake. We will be entitled to cancel or amend the booking and re-invoice at the correct price. We will have the right to

rectify any mistake up to 50 days before departure. If your booking was made less than 56 days before departure, we will have the right to do so up to 14 days before departure. Ski Services can not be booked less than 7 working days before departure*. Should you book through a travel agent, any advice given to you by your travel agent which is not based on the advice given by us to them is their responsibility. 2. Pre-Bookable Ski & Snowboard Packs All elements of ski packs whether purchased separately or together do not form part of your package holiday. The Booking Conditions included in this section together with the description of the pre-bookable Ski Pack Items contained in the general information contained in this brochure, form the basis of your agreement with the Ski Pack Service Providers. All information in our brochure and on our website has been supplied by the Service Providers and we do not accept any responsibility for any errors or omissions on the part of the Service Providers. All Service Providers have agreed that these Booking Conditions form the basis of your contract with the Service Provider for the purchase of the Ski Pack items but reserve the right to add other conditions or vary these conditions as they may feel necessary. Where this occurs, we will notify you of any other conditions or variations to these Booking Conditions. These Booking Conditions also specify the basis on which we promote the Service and manage your booking and in particular how we act on behalf of the Service Providers as an agent. Please read them carefully as they explain the respective rights and obligations of all concerned. When we issue you with a written confirmation on behalf of the Service Provider this confirms that the Service Provider has entered into a contract with you, which is subject to these booking conditions (and any other conditions introduced by the Service Provider) and the Service Provider’s terms and conditions. We will take payment from you on behalf of the Service Provider. The Service Provider reserves the right to refuse any booking before or after the issue of your written confirmation, even if monies have been paid. In the unlikely event they do so, they will endeavour to offer you an alternative service. Where the alternative option is acceptable, the money you have already paid will then be attributed towards the cost. We will send your written confirmation either by post or by email, as requested. It is your responsibility to check your emails regularly and advise us of any change to your email address. As soon as you receive your confirmation, you should check the details carefully. If anything is not correct you must advise straight away. We reserve the right to charge an amendment fee to put right any error by you or where you fail to inform us of any error within 14 days of receipt. If your balance of payment is not received by the due date, we on the behalf of Service Providers are permitted to treat your booking as

cancelled by you and cancellation charges will be payable in line with the typical cancellation charges set out below. Should you cancel your pre-booked service, cancellation fees will be imposed by the Service Provider. Cancellation charges vary depending on the number of days before the arrival date that notification of cancellation is received by us in writing and are set by the Service Provider you have booked with. The charges set out in the typical charges are the standard charges set but you should be aware that some Service Providers may levy a different charge. Any difference from the standard typical charges set out above will be notified to you by the Service Provider. The Management of the ski resorts reserve the right to host ski competitions throughout the season without prior notification. This may result in one or more ski slopes or ski lifts being unavailable. Many hotels have storage room for own ski/snowboard equipment. Storage booked locally in the hotel may be in unsupervised room and subject to local charge where applicable. 3. If You Change Your Booking Should you wish to alter any part of your holiday arrangements please notify us at once. We will always try to assist in such cases. Where an amendment to the holiday is made more than 29 days before departure, an administration charge will be made. If the number of persons booked changes, the holiday price will be recalculated on the basis of the amended party size. Any increase in price per person as a result of a part cancellation (e.g. studio / apartments / chalet underoccupancy charge, or sole occupancy charge in a twin), is not a cancellation charge and is not covered by our insurance. (Cancellation or part cancellation of ski extras will incur amendment fees as detailed below, and no alterations to ski extras are accepted by ski service providers within one month of travel. Ski extras may not be added less than 7 working days before departure and will have

to be purchased direct in resort upon arrival). When the amendment is made within four weeks of departure, the appropriate cancellation charges will be levied in all cases (except name changes – see below), but we will try wherever possible to provide you with the change requested, and if as a result of that Balkan Holidays incurs further costs, these will be passed on to you. A change of name will be subject to special amendment charges, per person, as detailed below, depending on the proximity of the departure date. In addition, insurance already charged is forfeited and must be paid again for the new person. All amendments and name changes must be made in writing to Balkan Holidays and the charges will depend on the date written notification is received by us. Any amendments made over the telephone must be confirmed in writing to Balkan Holidays and it is your responsibility to ensure that we have received it.

You must communicate any complaint to the supplier of the services in question as well as to our representative without delay and complete a report form whilst in resort. If this is not done we will have been deprived of the opportunity to investigate and rectify your complaint whilst you were in resort and it may affect your rights under this contract. There may be times when your Representative is unable to resolve your complaint immediately. Whilst we appreciate this may be frustrating, we do expect you to act in a reasonable manner towards our staff and we will take action against anyone who displays intimidating or threatening behaviour. 9. What Happens To Complaints We are a Member of ABTA, membership number V089X and abide by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you an arbitration scheme for the resolution of disputes arising out of, or in connection with this contract. The arbitration scheme is arranged by ABTA and administered independently. It provides for a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on you in respect of costs. The scheme does not apply to claims for an amount greater than £5,000 per person. There is also a limit of £25,000 per booking form. Neither does it apply to claims which are solely in respect of physical injury or illness or their consequences. The scheme can however deal with compensation claims which include an element of minor injury or illness subject to a limit of £1,500 on the amount the arbitrator can award per person in respect of this element. Your request for arbitration must be received by ABTA within eighteen months of the date of return from holiday. Outside this time limit arbitration under the Scheme may still be available if we agree, but the ABTA Code does not require such agreement. For injury and illness claims, you can request the ABTA Mediation Procedure and we have the option to agree to mediation. Further information on the Code and ABTA’s assistance in resolving disputes can be found on www.abta.com. 10. Our Liability To You (I). We accept responsibility for the package travel arrangements which we agree to provide or arrange for you prior to your holiday as an organiser under the Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 as set out below. Subject to these conditions, if we or our suppliers perform or arrange your contracted package holiday negligently, taking into account all relevant factors (e.g. the procedures set out in the complaints procedure as set out in section 7 and the extent to which our or our employees or suppliers negligence affected the overall enjoyment of your holiday), we will pay you appropriate compensation, if this has affected the enjoyment of your holiday arrangements. We also accept responsibility for what our employees, agents and suppliers do or do not do, providing they were at the time acting within the scope of their employment. Please note that we will not be liable for any injury, illness or death or consequent losses suffered by you or any member of your party unless you are able to prove that such injury or illness or death was caused by lack of reasonable care and skill on the part of ourselves or our suppliers in the performance of our obligations under our contract with you. And in all claims of whatever nature we will not be liable where the alleged loss or damage results from any of the following; (a) the fault of the person(s) affected or any member(s) of their party or (b) the fault of a third party not connected with the provision of your holiday which we could not have predicted or avoided or (c) an event or circumstances which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not have predicted or avoided even after taking all reasonable care (d) the fault of anyone who was not carrying out work for us (generally or in particular) at the time. (II). In respect of travel by air, sea and rail, the extent of our liability will in all cases be limited as if we were carriers in accordance with the limitation of damage provisions under the appropriate Conventions, which include The Warsaw / Montreal Conventions (international travel by air); The Athens Convention (with respect to sea travel); The Berne / Cotif Convention (with respect to rail travel) and The Paris Convention (with respect to accommodation arrangements). Subject to our reasonable discretion, we will provide advice, guidance and initial financial assistance with legal costs in bringing an action against a third party to any client who, through misadventure, suffers death, illness or injury during their holiday arising out of an activity which does not form part of their holiday arrangements or excursion offered through our representatives or agents. All assistance, financial or otherwise, is subject to a limit of £5,000 per booking. In addition, we shall be entitled to recoup any costs we actually incur from you in the event of a suitable insurance policy being in force or a successful claim for costs being made against any third party. (iv). Prompt assistance in resort. If the contract we have with you is not performed or is improperly performed as a result of failures attributable to a third party unconnected with the provision of the services, or as a result of failures due to unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which could have been avoided even if due care had been exercised, or an event which we or our suppliers, even with all due care, could not foresee or forestall, and you suffer an injury or other material loss, we will offer you such prompt assistance as is reasonable in the circumstances. (vi). In all cases except where personal injury, illness death results, our liability is limited in total to twice the package holiday price of the persons affected. (vii). In addition, we will not be liable for (i) where you do not enjoy your holiday or suffer any problems due to something about which you did not tell us when you booked your holiday and where the problems you experienced do not arise from any breach of contract or other fault of ourselves, our suppliers or agents (ii) where any losses, expenses, costs or other sum you have experienced relate to any business. Bed linen and bath towels are provided. Cleaning before your arrival is included. The extra bed is usually a convertible sofa bed for 1 or 2 persons in the living room. It can be replaced by a baby cot but the rooms can not take both. Baby cots are not available for hire in most of the apartments, but you can take your own travel cot. Important: Often descriptions of hotels and resorts include the mention of sports and entertainment, but the availability of these and other amenities can sometimes be influenced by weather conditions and the number of visitors - particularly at the beginning and end of the season. 13. Accommodation All our prices are based on sharing twin or double-bedded rooms or four bedded chalets, studios or apartments. Single room supplements are shown under the holiday descriptions. Some accommodation can take an extra occasional bed to accommodate a third person. This will be the camp bed or sofa type, and will be more suited to a child than an adult. Where an extra bed is added this may limit the available space. The extra bed can be replaced by a cot for an infant, but rooms cannot take both. Cot charges must be paid locally. We do, however, have some larger twins which can accommodate a third adult. Whenever family rooms are available, the appropriate supplement is shown. This type of accommodation normally consists of a double bedroom and open plan adjoining sitting room. The extra beds will be either sofa or camp bed type. Some furniture may be substituted for the extra beds. These rooms are ideal for families with young children. Checking In & Checking Out - Times vary slightly from resort to resort, but generally are as follows: check in from 14:00 (on occasion, it may be later); check out on the last day of your holiday is 10:00 in apartments and midday in hotels. In some cases you may have to wait to access your accommodation depending on your flight arrival time or have several hours before your homeward flight departs. Lifts - If a hotel offers lift facilities, be aware that it may be withdrawn from time to time for essential maintenance work. Please note that the withdrawal of such facilities is outside of our direct control. Many lifts offered may commence on a floor other than ground level and may be reached by stairs. Important: If circumstances beyond our control make it necessary, we reserve the right, sometimes without prior notification, to provide accommodation on your arrival in the holiday centre in an alternative hotel of the class confirmed to you or higher. This is particularly likely for early and late departures when not all the resort hotels are open. If we are aware of such changes before your departure we shall inform your travel agent, or yourself in the case of a direct booking. This will not affect your rights under this contract. 14. Flight Only Bookings Where you have booked a flight only, we will be acting only as the booking agent for the airlines providing the flight and therefore accept no liability whatsoever for any death, personal injury, loss or damage of whatever kind, unless caused by our own negligence. 21. Passports, Visas And Travel Advice It is a customer’s responsibility to be in possession of a full ten year valid passport and necessary visas. For travel to most countries, a 10 year British passport with at least six months validity from the day of return is required for all British citizens, some countries apply different rules: Clients holding British subject passports should also contact the Embassy of their destination country for visa information. BOOKING CONDITIONS

25. General Balkan Holidays reserves the right to terminate the holiday arrangements of anyone whose behaviour is such that it is likely, in the opinion of ourselves, the accommodation owner / manager or any other person in authority, to cause distress, damage, danger or annoyance to other persons, staff, any third party or property. Any enforced cancellation of this nature will be subject to full cancellation charges as detailed on page 56, with Balkan Holidays having no obligation to refund or compensate, or to organise or pay for the return travel arrangements. No refund can be considered on any tickets or coupons unless they are returned to our Head Office, duly cancelled, and amendments suitably endorsed. 26. Your financial protection We provide full financial protection for our package holidays and flights, by way of our Air Travel Organiser’s Licence number 0252. In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the CAA will ensure that you are not stranded abroad and will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking. For further information visit the ATOL website at www.atol.org.uk We will provide you with the services you have bought (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where we aren’t able do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable). When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists the flight, accommodation, car

hire and/or other services that are financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. Not all holiday or travel services offered and sold by us will be protected by the ATOL Scheme. Please ask us to confirm what protection may apply to your booking. The price of our air holiday packages includes the amount of £2.50 per person as part of the ATOL Protection Contribution (APC) we pay to the CAA. This charge is included in our advertised prices. 27. Marketing In order to process your booking, we need to collect certain personal details from you. These details will include, where applicable, the names and addresses of party members, credit / debit card or other payment details, and special requirements (including some sensitive data, as defined by the Act), such as those relating to any disability or medical condition which may affect the chosen holiday arrangements, and any dietary restrictions which may disclose your religious beliefs. If we need any other personal details, we will tell you before we obtain them from you. We need to pass on your personal details to the companies and organisations who need to know them so that your holiday can be provided (for example your airline, hotel, other supplier, credit / debit card company or bank). We would also like to use your personal details to send you information concerning the holidays and services we offer. All details you give us in connection with your booking (including those relating to any disability, medical condition or your religious beliefs (sensitive data)), will be kept by us but we will only use names and addresses for marketing. Occasionally, we may sell and/or share clients' names and addresses (but not sensitive data- see above) to other companies or organisations who offer goods or services which we feel may interest you. We will ask you for your consent first before doing this. Except where expressly permitted by the Data Protection Act, we will only

deal with the personal details you give us as set out above, unless you agree otherwise. For example, if we wish to use any of your personal details for marketing purposes, we will tell you this when we ask for your details and give you the opportunity to say no if you do not want us to do so. You are generally entitled to ask us (by letter or e-mail) what details of yours are being held or processed, for what purpose and to whom they may be or have been disclosed. We will charge a fee to respond to such a request. We promise to respond to your request within 40 days of receiving your written request and fee. In certain limited circumstances we are entitled to refuse your request. 28. Brochure Accuracy All information in this brochure is given in good faith and to the best of our knowledge was correct at the time of going to press (Jul 2013). The descriptions and information are compiled some time in advance and may be subject to change. All prices are based on Sterling and offers are subject to change or withdrawal without notice; however you will be informed of any changes relevant to your holiday. If we should need to apply any other surcharges, we guarantee to keep them to an absolute minimum and explain them fully. Ski maps are not to scale. Many pictures are included for their attractiveness and general relevance, however those with specific notation refer to hotels or relevant features. 29. Excursions Excursions or other tours that you may choose to book or pay for whilst you are on holiday are not part of your package holiday provided by us. For any excursion or other tour that you book, your contract will be with our local supplier/operator of the excursion or tour, and not with us. We are not responsible for the provision of the excursion or tour or for anything that happens during the course of its provision by the operator. Contact details for our local suppliers are available upon request.

Holiday Insurance For Your Complete Peace Of Mind DEMANDS AND NEEDS This travel insurance policy will suit the Demands and Needs of an individual, or group (where applicable) who have no excluded preexisting medical conditions, are travelling to countries included within the policy terms and who wish to insure themselves against the unforeseen circumstances/events detailed in this policy wording. Subject to terms and conditions and maximum specifies sums insured. IMPORTANT This policy will have been sold to you on a non advised basis and it is therefore for you to read this information (paying particular attention to the terms and conditions and exclusions) and ensure that it meets all of your requirements. We will not provide you with the advice about the suitability of this product for your individual needs but we will be happy to provide you with factual information. Most importantly we include a 24 hour medical emergency service, a must for any traveller overseas. In addition, we cover the cost of your holiday if you have to cancel before departure, loss of baggage, travel delay and even the cost of getting you on another ferry or plane if you miss yours because of an accident on the motorway. Travel insurance is so important that as responsible tour operators who have to make sure that all our customers have a valid travel insurance policy to cover the full period of the holiday. Please note, if you have a single trip policy that ends within one month of the date you purchased your policy, the cooling off period does not apply and we will not be able to offer you’re a refund. If you have decided not to buy our insurance, we will need a photocopy of your policy showing all the names on the booking form for us to check and keep on file. This will enable us to assist you by liaising with your insurance company in the event of an emergency. We reserve the right to decline a policy, which in our opinion does not offer adequate protection. Many people think that the form EHIC is a substitute for travel insurance.
