A Southern Africa holiday is unique We’re delighted to showcase our collection of Southern Africa holidays from idyllic beach escapes, cosmopolitan cities, superb safaris, iconic journeys by rail, relaxing river cruises and so much more besides. Our brochure is designed to give you ideas of what you can do, where you can go and what combinations work best together.

Planning your stay A holiday in Southern Africa is great for independent travellers but does involve a lot of planning to ensure you make the most of your time. It’s vital to have the right advice from someone who knows the destinations well and who can ensure that an itinerary is created to match your own particular requirements… and that’s where we come in.

to get to them. Some of the distances are vast, so will almost certainly involve some internal flights.

No doubt you’ll want to see as much as possible but you should prepare for the fact that it won’t necessarily be relaxing. There are some amazing experiences to be had, but you may need to travel

For Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania and the Victoria Falls region, space only permits us to give a taste of what is available; however, our experienced travel advisors will be delighted to discuss the many possibilities open to you and assist you in creating an itinerary which matches your exact requirements.

In South Africa we feature a range of touring options from self-drive routes to escorted tours and fly tours between the major cities, along with a wide array of accommodation choices. We’ve highlighted the main regions of the country and suggested which combine well together.

All the prices shown within this brochure are based on the best value travel dates in low season.

Our Price commitment In our rapidly changing world, it’s easy to understand that prices can be subject to enormous fluctuations during the lifetime of a brochure. We are in constant contact with the hotels and resorts we feature and work closely with our airline partners to ensure that we always have the best offers to hand. That means we can make a simple promise to you – we will always offer the best possible price for your holiday on the day incorporating any available free night offers, room upgrades, early booking discounts and meal offers.

Game reserves

Choosing your hotel Everyone is different and that’s why our brochure incorporates a portfolio of hotels which span a whole spectrum of styles. Most hotels offer a choice of room types, so that you can choose to upgrade to a room with a view or more space to make your stay more comfortable. The nature of our holidays, which are generally tailor-made to your specific requirements, means that, with the exception of some of the pre-planned coach tours, you are free to decide how long you wish to stay in each destination. The only limitations are the time you have available and your holiday priorities. As there is no universally accepted hotel grading system in Southern Africa we have personally graded the accommodation in this brochure to help you in your selection. These ratings are reviewed regularly and range from basic, good value accommodation to truly world class hotels.

4 Premier Holidays 2016 SA 004-005 Main intro & car hire.indd 4

These are not official star ratings and are for your guidance only:+++ Comfortable, unpretentious, excellent value and ideal for the more budget conscious client. ++++ Usually a higher standard of modern hotel or an exceptionally well maintained older property. An above average hotel with some outstanding features. Plus Where PLUS appears with the star gradings it indicates it is above average and just short of the next highest category. +++++ A deluxe hotel offering exemplary standards of accommodation, service and a wide range of facilities. +++++Luxury For those who require the ultimate in luxury, attentive service and spectacular amenities.

Pursuit of wildlife is an important part of any visit to Southern Africa. In South Africa Kruger National Park is perhaps the most well-known however, there are also excellent game reserves in the north west around Pilanesberg and Madikwe, as well as fabulous reserves in the Eastern Cape which are non-malarial which, for some, is an added bonus. Botswana is a real wilderness with plains of abundant wildlife and endless savannahs; Etosha National Park in Namibia also offers incredible game viewing (to rival Kruger) around the watering holes and vast saltpan at its heart; while the vast plains of the world-renowned Serengeti National Park in Tanzania (Eastern Africa) is famous for its annual migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra.

touring with flights

Escorted tours

Train journeys

Depending on the areas which are of most interest to you, you might find that some of the distances are so great that flying is the most efficient method of getting around. Most flights from the UK go to Johannesburg or Cape Town. However, there is an excellent internal network of flights with airports close to Kruger National Park, Durban for the great beaches and KwaZulu Natal, as well as George and Port Elizabeth on the Garden Route.

If you prefer to let someone else take the strain, but still want to see as much as possible, we also offer a range of escorted tours in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Tanzania and Victoria Falls. The range includes short tours which can be added on to city stays or longer more all-encompassing tours over a couple of weeks which will allow you to see a lot in a relatively short time.

South Africa offers two exceptional luxury train companies – Rovos Rail and the Blue Train. Both names are synonymous with elegance, comfort and luxury and offer a relaxing and splendid alternative mode of transport from which to view some of the fabulous South African vistas. Both companies offer journeys from Pretoria, near Johannesburg, across the country to either Cape Town or Kruger, whilst Rovos Rail also has journeys to Victoria Falls, Namibia and Tanzania. These train journeys can easily be incorporated into any holiday itinerary.

River journeys What better way to view Botswana’s wildlife than a unique cruise aboard the elegant Zambezi Queen which glides along the Chobe River; at the Okavango Delta excursions are available by traditional mukuro (dugout canoe); while at Victoria Falls you can savour the stunning sunsets beyond the Zambezi River on an evening river cruise.

Self-drive tours If you want to see as much of South Africa or Namibia as possible, but do it in your own time, then a self-drive itinerary is the thing for you. We can help you to plan this by booking your rental car and all the accommodation for stops en route. This allows you to factor in a bit of extra time for relaxation too, as some distances can be considerable. Driving is on the left in South Africa and the roads are generally very good. Namibia can be a little more challenging, as outside the main routes, many roads are unsealed. One of our most popular self-drive options takes you from Cape Town, via the Winelands, along the Garden Route ending at a game reserve in the Eastern Cape. But, the beauty of any selfdrive tour is that you decide how much time you have and which areas are of most interest to you, so you can determine the length of stay in each area.

Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town

A world of awe-inspiring natural wonders from wild untamed coastlines, high mountains and lush forests, varied marine life, vineyards and arguably, the best game experience in the world. The rugged beauty of South Africa will take your breath away. Why visit South Africa? This intriguing country offers countless holiday experiences and will never cease to amaze you; however, South Africa is huge and one visit is hardly enough to take in its variety and vastness. South Africa’s scenic wonders are legendary. From Table Mountain to God’s Window, the mountains, forests, coasts and deserts are all sure to delight you, but South Africa also offers adventure, mouthwatering food and wine, culture, a fascinating history and, of course, incredible wildlife! The Western Cape province has much to explore including beautiful Cape Town with its matchless setting beneath Table Mountain; the Cape Dutch architecture, graceful old towns and vineyards of the Winelands; whale-watching in Hermanus; and the views of the iconic Garden Route. The Eastern Cape is full of surprising contrasts from wide, sunny beaches to first-class game reserves.

Known as South Africa’s Garden Province, KwaZulu Natal’s stunning 370 mile Indian Ocean coastline rises up inland to the dramatic heights of the Drakensberg Mountains. The beaches are glorious and benefit from the warmth of the Indian Ocean while lovers of history will find their home in the battlefield sites of the Boer Wars. Highlights of the North West province include Sun City Resort, a true oasis of pleasure and entertainment, or the natural wilderness of Pilanesberg National Park. Speaking of wildlife, pursuit of “Big Five” game is an important part of any visit to South Africa and Kruger National Park is the most well-known with safari adventures galore, amidst spectacular bush scenery in arguably one of the finest game parks in the world.

Best time to go

Whether you’re planning a first visit or much-anticipated return to

There is no bad time to visit South Africa. The peak of summer is February and the heart of winter is August. Most rainfall occurs between Nov-Mar, however it rarely rains all day but there is usually a brief, heavy downpour in the late afternoon, the main exception is the Western Cape which has rain in the winter and hot, dry summers. The high lying areas of the interior can be chilly in winter.

South Africa the options are seemingly endless, so let us help... It’s the perfect destination for…

South Africa and beyond

Independent travellers with a sense of adventure and desire to explore. There are some amazing experiences to be had, but if you do want to see as much as possible, bear in mind it won’t necessarily be relaxing. Although distances are immense, getting around is very easy. Internal flights may be required or car hire is a great way to see the country, as driving is on the left and roads are generally good.

Extending your African adventure beyond South Africa couldn’t be easier. The dramatic Victoria Falls and the incredible wildlife of Chobe National Park in Botswana are all just a short flight from Johannesburg. Alternatively, you may wish to combine the sights and sounds of Africa with an Indian Ocean beach in Mauritus or The Seychelles. Windhoek

Hoedspruit

Classic South Africa A classic itinerary for South Africa should include Cape Town, the Winelands, the Garden Route and a safari. Cape Town is home to iconic Table Mountain, the bustling Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and legendary Robben Island. Just 45 minutes drive from Cape Town is the Winelands region where you can visit the wine estates around Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch. The stunning Garden Route, which stretches between Mossel Bay and Port Elizabeth, is one of the wildest and most staggeringly beautiful stretches of coastline you could ever wish to see. Ideally spread your stay over three or four days and include visits to George, Oudtshoorn, Knysna and Plettenberg along the way. A safari is high on the list of “musts’ for many visitors to South Africa, and while most will have heard of Kruger National Park, there are also a large number of private game reserves in the Eastern Cape all within easy reach of the Garden Route.

Explore more… For those keen to experience the best of the African bush, the Kruger is arguably one of the finest game parks in the world. Your chances of seeing the “Big Five” - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo - are high. The KwaZulu Natal region has great surfing beaches, the country’s highest mountain range - the Drakensberg, and if your interests tend towards history, then the Boer War sites are an obvious draw. Just 90 minutes drive from Johannesburg is Sun City, regarded as South Africa’s playground with a theme park, casinos and recreational facilities to enjoy.

Cape Town & Winelands

Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town

From its achingly beautiful natural attributes to its colourful culture; from the fascinating history to centuries-old architecture; from the imposing Table Mountain, which towers over the magical city of Cape town to the wonderful Winelands where visitors are treated to wine tastings, cellar tours and fabulous scenery. This region is a captivating delight!

Why visit Cape Town? The Mother City is probably the most popular starting point for any visit to the country and so it should be! Regularly voted as one of the world’s most beautiful cities Cape Town has it all - a fascinating mix of up-to-the-minute vibrancy, memorable history and culture, and spectacular natural beauty.

Classic sights

Explore more

Cape Town has several iconic sights which most visitors will not want to miss. Table Mountain: One of the world’s most recognisable landmarks and no visit to Cape Town would be complete without a trip up the 360 degree rotating cable car to the top. Be warned that cloud cover can affect visibility and may even cause the cable car to be closed. During peak times, queues can be long, so make an early start. Victoria and Alfred (V&A) Waterfront: A redeveloped working port which now boasts a wide range of shops, restaurants and hotels and is a great place to spend time. Robben Island: A “must see” whilst in Cape Town. This is the island where Nelson Mandela, amongst others, was imprisoned for 18 years. Tours of the jail buildings are conducted by former political prisoners, who tell true stories of their experiences and lives since their release. Tours do fill up quickly, so it is worth booking before you leave home to avoid missing out on this very moving experience. Cape Peninsula: A superb day trip from Cape Town with stunning scenic drives over mountains and along the coast. Stop at Boulders Beach to visit the penguin colony as well as the naval town of Simon’s Town, drop by the Constantia wine growing region and climb to the top of the cliff above The Cape of Good Hope at the southern-most tip to admire the Atlantic vistas.

If time allows there’s so much more to discover in this historic, vibrant city. City Hall and Grand Parade: Cape Town’s City Hall was built in 1905 and is one of the last Victorian-style sandstone structures in the city. It was from the balcony of City Hall that Nelson Mandela addressed the world, following his release from prison. On that day 250,000 people streamed to the Grand Parade in front of City Hall. The Castle of Good Hope, South Africa’s oldest building, is right across the road from the Grand Parade. Company Gardens: Nature enthusiasts and those just seeking a break from city life should spend some time exploring this public park which contains a rose garden, Japanese garden, fish pond, aviary and tea garden. Museums: Cape Town has numerous fascinating museums including District Six Museum, Bo-Kaap Museum, Iziko Slave Lodge, The Springbok Experience and Cape Town Diamond Museum. Camps Bay: Just a short drive from the city, this beach destination is a great place to spend an afternoon or to sip a cocktail as you watch the sun set. With the Twelve Apostles as a backdrop and the ocean in front, this resort town bustles with beautiful people at the myriad of restaurants and bars.

Getting there: Cape Town is approximately 12 hours (non-stop) flight from the UK. Many of the towns in the Winelands region are within driving distance of Cape Town. Best time to go: This region of South Africa typically enjoys long, warm and dry summers (October to April). Winter months (May to September) can be cooler but there are still many perfect sunny days.

Why visit the Winelands? South Africa’s wines are internationally renowned but the Winelands region is fast turning into a foodie destination too. It’s also incredibly scenic with picturesque vineyards that extend as far as the eye can see and traditional Cape Dutch architecture. Just 45 minutes drive from Cape Town it’s an easy day out, but why not stay a couple of nights and sample the produce in a more leisurely fashion?

Winelands towns

Stellenbosch

These scenic towns are highly recommended. Stellenbosch: South Africa’s second oldest town, Stellenbosch is at the centre of the winelands region. The town’s wine route comprises five different options encompassing some 100 estates, which are open to the public. The one at Spier is the one of the most wellknown and is a real family day out with gardens, picnic grounds, wine tours and of course, wine tasting! Franschhoek: Owes its name, which means French Corner, to the Huguenots who settled there in the 18th century. Lying around 17 miles north east of Stellenbosch, the Franschhoek Valley is lined with spectacular mountain peaks with vineyards clinging to the slopes. Paarl: The town of Paarl has the same name as the granite mountain which rises up behind it. The Afrikaner meaning is “pearl” and this little jewel in the Winelands is certainly worthy of its name. Like its neighbours, it offers a wine route and a range of excellent restaurants.

Cape Town, Winelands & beyond Cape Town and the Winelands combine perfectly with the glorious Garden Route and Eastern Cape game reserves. Alternatively, you may wish to head further to view the wildlife of the Kruger National Park or perhaps enjoy the scenic splendours of the north west.

Garden Route & Eastern Cape

Knysna

The Garden Route, which starts from Mossel Bay and ends at Port Elizabeth on the Eastern Cape, is one of the wildest and most staggeringly beautiful stretches of coastline you will ever see, while the Eastern Cape is full of surprising contrasts.

Why visit the Garden Route? The glorious natural beauty of the Garden Route is sure to seduce you. The coast is dotted with excellent beaches, while inland you’ll find picturesque lagoons and lakes, rolling hills and eventually the mountains of the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma ranges. Adventure seekers will find an array of outdoor activities including hiking trails, canoeing and forest canopy tours while wildlife enthusiasts will discover a profusion of mammals, birds, reptiles and marine animals.

A drive along the Garden Route should ideally be spread out over three or four days and stopping at the places we recommend below. Most people drop their car in Port Elizabeth at the end of the route and then take a flight to their next port of call. Hermanus: This picturesque fishing village is famous for ocean views and, from June to November, is home to Southern Right Whales. Mossel Bay: This is where the first European, Bartholmeu Diaz, set anchor in 1488. A popular starting point for boat trips, don’t miss a visit to Seal Islands to see the Cape fur seals. George: The Garden Route’s biggest town lies at the base of the Outeniqua mountains. The historic town centre boasts some magnificent buildings and the railway station houses a fascinating railway museum. Oudtshoorn: The biggest town in the Little Karoo, an inland region, which is incredibly dry and can be blisteringly hot in summer. Most famous for its ostrich farming with several farms open to visitors. Knysna: Busy Knysna is built around a huge, natural lagoon, which is connected to the ocean by a narrow gap between two cliffs, known as The Heads. The town has a pretty main street lined with shops and restaurants and is also famous for the annual Oyster Festival held in July. Plettenberg Bay: “Plett”, as it is affectionately known, is South Africa’s most upmarket seaside resort. Its long, golden beaches make it popular in season, although it can be surprisingly quiet, out of season.

If time allows don’t miss the following attractions: Tsitsikamma National Park: Just outside Plett, Nature’s Valley marks the start of this stunning stretch of coastline, which forms part of the national park, and is a beautifully forested village which overlooks a secluded beach. The coast along to Storms River Mouth houses a natural ecosystem of coves, dunes, cliffs, beaches and coral reefs. Cango Caves: A massive system of limestone caves at the base of the Swartberg Mountains with marvellous multi-coloured stalactites and stalagmites. Featherbed Nature Reserve: Reached by ferry from Knysna, this private reserve is home to blue duiker (antelope) and various birds. Robberg Nature Reserve: Just outside Plettenberg, this beautiful remote rocky peninsula is one of the most popular walking destinations in the area. Trails range from 45 minutes to 5 hours in length and offer incredible scenery, views over shoreline and sea, a thriving Cape fur seal colony and huge diversity of bird life. Whale watching: The Garden Route’s coast is one of the best and easiest places in the world to see whales and dolphins from land. Top locations include Robberg Beach, Hermanus and Plettenberg Bay.

Getting there: Unless driving through the Garden Route, Port Elizabeth has its own airport with flights available from Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. Best time to go: Coastal cities have a subtropical and Mediterranean climate while inland the conditions are usually drier and hotter with lower levels of rainfall than at the coast. Temperatures are seldom extreme with summer temperatures ranging from 16-26ºC and winter 7-20ºC.

Why visit the Eastern Cape? The Eastern Cape is regarded as South Africa’s ‘wild’ province and features expanses of untouched beach, bush and forest while boasting a wealth of flora and fauna, including the Big Five, in a malaria free environment. There are an outstanding selection of private game reserves, the famous Addo Elephant National Park with the densest elephant population in the world and coastal waters teeming with marine life.

Classic Eastern Cape cities Port Elizabeth: The fifth largest city in the country and the biggest on the coast between Cape Town and Durban. This important harbour town and industrial centre has an attractive atmosphere, wide beaches and an impressive promenade. From Port Elizabeth, it’s only a short hop to some of the private game reserves of the Eastern Cape. East London: South Africa’s only river port city is set on the broad Buffalo River and has sweeping beaches which extend for miles, while the river mouths, lagoons and gullies provide a paradise for fishing enthusiasts.

Garden Route, Eastern Cape & beyond

Alternatively, you may wish to head further to view the wildlife of the Kruger National Park or Explore more perhaps enjoy the dramatic Drakensberg Mountains or Addo Elephant National Park: If it’s elephants you KwaZulu Natal. want to see then Addo, which is South Africa’s third largest national reserve, has lots of them! Just over an hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth, Addo lies in the malaria-free Sunday’s River Valley. The park can also exclusively claim to be the only national park in the world to conserve the Big Seven - the Big Five as well as the Southern Right whale and great white shark off the Algoa Bay Coast. The Wild Coast: One of the world’s most untouched scenic locations. This is Xhosa tribal country, birthplace of Mandela and home of the inspiring Nelson Mandela Museum.

Featherbed Tour from £36 This half day tour from Knysna begins with a comfortable morning ferry ride across Knysna’s pretty estuary to the secluded Featherbed Nature Reserve, home to the blue duiker, Knysna Lerie and other exquisite feathered friends. You’ll then amble through the cool forest which hugs the coastline before a sociable buffet lunch is served under the gentle milkwood trees.

Stroll through the famed Tsitsikamma Forest towards the legendary thousand-year-old Outeniqua yellowwood tree, before breathing in the sensational coastal views of the adjacent Tsitsikamma Coastal Nature Reserve. For those brave enough you may want to test your nerves at the world’s highest bungee jump (additional expense) before the tour continues to Monkeyland. The tour concludes with a visit to cosmopolitan Plettenberg Bay with its sensational beaches.

Addo Elephant National Park from £88 Depart from Port Elizabeth for Addo Elephant Park which has, arguably, the best elephant viewing in South Africa, and with a full day at your disposal, you’ll have ample time for close encounters with these majestic beasts. Day 1 Cape Town/Hermanus: You will be collected from your Cape Town hotel or airport for the start of this wonderful escorted tour. The journey beings with a stunning coastal drive to the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden before continuing to Stony Point to see the small breeding colony of African penguins. In the afternoon you’ll explore one of South Africa’s newest wine routes ‘Hemelen’Aarde’ which translates to ‘Heaven and Earth’. A wine tasting at a boutique winery serves as a perfect illustration of why this region is so aptly named. Continue to Hermanus. Day 2 Hermanus/Oudtshoorn: Hermanus has the status of being the best land-based whale watching destination in the world. Southern Right whales visit Walker Bay from June to December, so take the opportunity to sit back and keep your eyes peeled. Depart late morning for a spectacular drive through the heart of the Cape Folded Mountains before visiting the pretty village of Barrydale. Continue along the scenic Route 62 towards Oudtshoorn, known as the ‘feather capital of the world’ thanks to its huge ostrich industry. Day 3 Oudtshoorn/Knysna: Go underground to marvel at the magnificent stalactites and stalagmites in the Cango Caves, regarded as one of South Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders. You’ll then have a guided tour of an ostrich farm which gives an insight into why Oudtshoorn is known as the ‘feather capital of the world’. Drive via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to Knysna. Day 4 Knysna: Cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon, then visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve which is home to many special inhabitants including the endangered Blue Duiker, Cape Mountain Tortoise and the Black African Oyster Catcher. A specialist guide shares the history and fascinating facts on the flora and fauna of the area before you have the option to take a guided walk through the coastal forest. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the enticing town of Knysna or return to the hotel to relax. Day 5 Knysna/Tsitsikamma: Today set off on an ocean safari from the delightful holiday resort of Plettenberg Bay. During the summer months you may view Bottlenose and Common dolphins, while in the winter months both Southern Right and Humpback whales are likely to be seen. Those brave enough may like to attempt the world’s highest commercial bungee jump at Bloukrans Bridge before continuing to Storms River.

Knysna 2 nights Oudtshoorn 1 night Day 6 Tsitsikamma/Port Elizabeth: Enter the Tsitsikamma National Park and head to the Storms River Mouth for unrivalled views of the Indian Ocean and its relentless waves that crash against the rocky shores. Day 2 Knysna: This morning you will cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon and visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone ‘Heads’ which guard the sea entrance to Knysna’s huge tidal lagoon, and the forests, marshes and pristine beaches beyond. After lunch the remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy this lovely town. Day 3 Knysna/Oudtshoorn: This morning you will head underground for a fascinating tour of the Cango Caves, one of South Africa’s most incredible natural wonders. Travel via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass as you make your way to Oudtshoorn, the ‘feather capital of the world’, so named because it is the centre of South Africa’s ostrich industry. After lunch you will learn more about these hardy, enigmatic creatures during a tour of an ostrich farm. Day 4 Oudtshoorn/Cape Town: A day of magnificent vistas! Enjoy the ever changing passing canvas as you travel to Cape Town. During the whale season you will travel via the seaside village of Hermanus to hopefully catch a glimpse of Southern Right Whales, which frolic offshore (July to November only). KwaZulu Natal Mountains, Battlefields, Beach & Game

Drakensberg Mountains

From the dramatic peaks of the exquisite Drakensberg Mountains to traditional Zulu villages, historic battle sites of the Boer Wars, the warm Indian Ocean lapping glorious sandy beaches and magnificent game reserves, KwaZulu Natal is a tourist’s paradise.

Why visit KwaZulu Natal? KZN, as it is often simply known, is a special place where the history is rich and the culture diverse; where lovers of the great outdoors can indulge in an array of activities; where the beaches are beautiful and the game reserves simply magnificent. Need we say more!

Classic places and sights KwaZulu Natal may be South Africa’s third smallest province but it has a wealth of scenic and cultural attractions. Durban: The bustling city of Durban is one of South Africa’s most popular holiday resorts thanks to its sub tropical climate and luxury beachfront hotels. It is South Africa’s third largest city and one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the world. Durban is also a sporting paradise with an abundance of watersports and world class stadia for rugby, soccer and cricket.

Umhlanga

28 KwaZulu Natal 2016 SA 028-029 KwaZulu Natal intro & tours.indd 2

Umhlanga: Ten miles north of Durban is the upmarket resort of Umhlanga. Less developed than the city it offers wide, sandy beaches lined with exclusive hotels, good shopping and a wide range of watersports. Drakensberg Mountains: Drakensberg is Afrikaans for Dragon’s Mountain and at 620 miles in length, this is South Africa’s highest and most extensive mountain range. Battlefields: The history of KwaZulu is intrinsically linked to its battlefields and the ferocious wars which took place over numerous years between the British, Boers and Zulus. There are a number of self-drive routes in KwaZulu Natal that take in the intriguing battle sites, historical buildings, museums, memorials and graveyards. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve: Among South Africa’s largest game reserves, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi is one of the best places in the country in which to see endangered rhino. Aside from black and white rhino, elephant are also plentiful along with other members of the Big Five, namely lion, leopard and buffalo. Well-disguised viewing hides overlook pans and waterholes where the birds and animals gather to drink, so you’ll be able to see plenty of game at an unusually close range.

Zululand: Extending roughly from the mouth of the Tugela River up to St Lucia and inland to Vryheid, Zululand offers fascinating historical and contemporary insights into one of the country’s most enigmatic cultures. It’s possible to visit many traditional Zulu villages where you can learn about Zulu history and the legendary King Shaka. Standerton

If time allows there’s so much more to discover in this wonderful province. Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park: The World Heritage listed Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park is part of the wider Drakensberg region. This spectacular site also contains many caves with the largest and most concentrated group of paintings in Africa by the San people. The rock art is remarkably preserved with many scenes depicting hunting, dancing, fighting, food gathering or ritual scenes of hunting or rainmaking. iSimangaliso Wetland Park: Formerly known as the Greater St Lucia Wetlands park, this Natural World Heritage Site comprises 328,000 hectares of magnificent scenery. Encompassing an immense variety of habitats ranging from marine systems, coastal forests and lush coastal plains to drier woodland areas. The largest mammal found in the park is the humpback whale as well as elephant, buffalo, rhino, zebra and eland. The Midlands: Running northwest from Pietermaritzburg (KwaZulu Natal’s capital) to Estcourt, this picturesque region was originally settled by English farmers. Kruger National Park

Experience the best of the African bush with spectacular scenery and the most exciting game parks. Rich wildlife with game, big and small, this region is renowned for the ‘Big Five’.

Why visit Kruger? The Kruger is arguably one of the finest game parks in the world with plentiful accommodation to suit all pockets, gourmet bush cuisine and exciting, adrenalin-pumping wildlife experiences. Your chances of seeing the Big Five - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo - are high.

Classic Kruger The Kruger Park is without doubt, the best do-ityourself drive-through reserve on the continent with a vast network of roads; however, most game lodges offer guided game drives each day. We’d recommend you stay at least two nights and do book early as the Kruger lodges are very popular. Kruger National Park lodges: We offer a range of accommodation options from good value informal lodges set just outside the park entrance to exclusive properties offering every conceivable luxury. Most lodges offer three meals a day and the majority offer both indoor and outdoor dining. Many have African ‘bomas’ (a traditional outdoor dining experience). Some lodges do not accept children and those that

do may insist you pay extra for a private game drive if your children are under 7. Most lodges have no fences, so wildlife can be found inside the lodges’ grounds. All lodges insist you are escorted by a member of staff after dark. Game drives: Most of our featured game lodges, excluding Hippo Hollow, offer two game drives per day. These are usually offered early in the morning (before breakfast) and late afternoon, although exact times vary according to season. Game drives are always in open top four-wheel drive vehicles and are carried out by an experienced ranger and tracker. Generally just six guests are accommodated on each vehicle. Some lodges also include bush walks or walking safaris.

Victoria Falls & beyond

Victoria Falls

One of the seven wonders of the world and referred to by locals as “Mosi-oa-Tunya” (“The Smoke that Thunders”), Victoria Falls is certainly a sight to behold. Add the warm and welcoming smiles, the bright African sunshine, the wilderness and wildlife and you’ll certainly fall in love with Zambia and Zimbabwe.

What you need to Know

Why visit Victoria Falls? The truly spectacular sight of Victoria Falls, which straddles the borders of both Zambia and Zimbabwe, is without doubt truly awe-inspiring and dramatically beautiful. On the Zambia side, the town of Livingstone, named after David Livingstone, the missionary and explorer believed to be the first European to see the falls, is the gateway to this World Heritage Site. On the other side of the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls Town in Zimbabwe offers an alternative viewing point. However, if the thundering power and bustling activity of Victoria Falls is not enough of a draw then venture just a little further away and you’ll discover tranquil river vistas and exceptional game viewing. For those keen to see wildlife Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s largest national park, is a game rich area with a variety of landscapes, from desert sands and sparse woodland to grasslands and rocky outcrops. Vast herds of elephants and buffalo, gemsbok and packs of brown hyena can be found in this pristine wilderness.

It’s the perfect destination for… Those with an explorer’s heart and who enjoy less frequented wilderness areas for game and bird sightings. Thrill seekers will also find a seemingly endless variety of activities at Victoria Falls, from bungee jumping to canoeing and white water rafting.

Kruger National Park Hoedspruit

Your decision on which side of the falls you will stay will probably be dictated by the time of year you choose to travel, as the water flow varies according to the time of year. Generally, if you visit from mid January to May the Zambian side is preferable, but as the waters diminish from June to early January, the thundering waters are best seen from Zimbabwe. Hwange can be visited year round. See page 50 for Holiday Information for Victoria Falls

Namibia

Sossusvlei

A world of contrasting landscapes, Namibia will offer you an unforgettable experience, which will capture your heart.

What you need to Know

Why visit Namibia? Namibia is Africa at its best, with friendly people and some of the continent’s most magnificent landscapes. It’s a very different world and definitely a country for touring. One of the highlights is Etosha National Park in the north, which offers incredible game viewing around the watering holes and vast saltpan at its heart. The remote northwest is undoubtedly one of the wildest and most spectacular parts of Africa, particularly the eerie Skeleton Coast where the world’s oldest desert, the Namib, meets the Atlantic Ocean. The landscape presents miles of white shimmering sand with the odd glimpse of a shipwreck jutting from the deserted beach or above the crashing waves as the sea ebbs and flows. Damaraland is a wilderness where flat-topped mountains, khaki plains and desert-adapted wildlife and people abound, but your overriding impression will be of a peaceful beauty. The coastal town of Swakopmund, with its German, colonial atmosphere, offers an escape from the heat of the desert as well as an insight into the country’s culture. It’s an ideal starting point to continue on to Sossusvlei and the spectacular red dunes. Visit at sunrise to see the colours at their most dramatic. With all this and so much more besides, Namibia provides one of the great travel adventures.

It’s the perfect destination for… Those who wish to experience the wildlife, vast landscapes and fascinating cultural diversity. Namibia offers all the benefits of the first-world infrastructure whilst leaving visitors awe-struck by its wide-open spaces, ancient history and natural beauty.

Explore more… With excellent flight links between South Africa and Namibia, why not enjoy a stay in cosmopolitan Cape Town before joining a tour in this stunning country.

June to August are considered best for game viewing, but desert areas are cold at night. September to October/November is warm although there can be a lot of airborne dust. Tanzania & Zanzibar

Mount Kilimanjaro

Zanzibar

What you need to Know

Home to Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, as well as the world-renowned Serengeti National Park and the romantic spice island of Zanzibar with its dazzling white sand beaches and impossibly blue sea, Tanzania is a treasure trove of sights and sounds.

Why visit Tanzania & Zanzibar? Tanzania boasts some of the world’s most spectacular sights. From the sheer variety of wildlife, to epic landscapes, Masai warriors and the palm-fringed beaches on the spice island of Zanzibar, Tanzania is a country of many parts and the quintessential romantic image of Africa. Kilimanjaro National Park is one of the most visited regions – not for its wildlife, although there is plenty – but to enable you to gaze at the snow-capped majesty of the mountain itself. For game viewing, the incomparable Serengeti has a reputation of which it is justly proud. To experience herds of animals gazing on the shimmering plains which stretch as far as the eye can see is one of life’s true pleasures. It’s also the setting for the world’s greatest wildlife spectacle; the annual migration of an estimated two million animals as they search for greener pastures. Nearby, within the steep walls of the Ngorongoro Crater lies the most densely concentrated population of African mammals on earth, including lion, elephant, buffalo and the endangered black rhino.

It’s not just the wildlife that’s enchanting; exotic Zanzibar, known locally as Unguja, is characterised by beautiful white-sand beaches with colourful coral reefs and warm, clear blue waters. An island state within the United Republic of Tanzania, Zanzibar is situated in the Indian Ocean about 25 miles from the Tanzanian coast and only six degrees south of the Equator.

It’s the perfect destination for… Wildlife enthusiasts with a sense of adventure will find Tanzania hard to beat. The beautiful beaches of Zanzibar are the perfect place to relax after busy days of touring and game viewing. The reefs are great for snorkelling and diving too.

Explore more… We believe our Tanzania Discovery Tour (page 49) highlights the very best of Tanzania and, if enjoyed alongside a stay in Zanzibar, it really is a winning combination.

You will be advised of the current price of the holiday that you wish to book before your contract is confirmed. b) When you make your booking you will need to pay a deposit. Deposit amounts may vary and we will advise you of the amount at that time. c) The balance of the price of your travel arrangements must be paid at least 10 weeks before your departure date. Occasionally, for certain types of bookings, the balance may become due earlier than this. If this is the case, you will be advised of this at the time of booking. If the deposit and/or balance is not paid in time, we shall cancel your travel arrangements. If the balance is not paid in time we shall retain your deposit The price of your travel arrangements was calculated using exchange rates quoted in the Financial Times Guide to World Currencies on 30 June 2015. d) For Advance Registrations (which will be clearly detailed on the invoice) where we cannot confirm all components of the booking at the time of issue, we will endeavour to do so as soon as possible. Should we be unable to confirm any components you may opt to accept revised alternatives with any applicable price adjustments or receive an immediate refund of any monies paid. e) Changes in transportation costs, including the cost of fuel, dues, taxes or fees chargeable for services such as landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports and exchange rates mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have booked. However there will be no change within 30 days of your departure. We will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that, plus an administration charge of £1.00 per person together with an amount to cover agents’ commission. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges. We will consider an appropriate refund of insurance premiums paid if you can show that you are unable to transfer or reuse your policy. Should you decide to cancel for this reason, you must exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the issue date printed on your final invoice. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place. e) When you buy a flight-based holiday, all monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on behalf and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust at all times. This is subject to the agent’s obligation to pay it to us for so long as we do not fail. If we fail, any money held at that time by the agent, or subsequently accepted from you by him, is and continues to be held on behalf of and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust without any obligation to pay that money to us. When you buy a holiday not including a flight, all monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on our behalf at all times. 5. If you change your booking If, after our confirmation invoice has been issued, you wish to change your travel arrangements in any way, for example your accommodation, we will do our utmost to make these changes but it may not always be possible. Any request for changes to be made must be in writing from the person who made the booking or your travel agent. You will be asked to pay an administration charge of £25 per person, and any further cost we incur in making this alteration. You should be aware that these costs could increase the closer to the departure date that changes are made and you should contact us as soon as possible.

Note: Certain travel arrangements (e.g. some types of airline ticket) may not be changeable after a reservation has been made and any alteration request could incur a cancellation charge of up to 100% of that part of the arrangements. A ‘change’ is deemed to be a correction or an enhancement to the existing holiday. If you request major alterations to your holiday (this includes, for example, changing dates of travel, substituting destinations or any other changes which significantly alter the original holiday) this will be termed a cancellation and charges, as per clause 6, will apply. If you alter any arrangements during your holiday (for example, checking-out of the hotel early or returning a hire car early) no refund for unused accommodation or services will be made. Where flights are not used, this is likely to result in all other flights on your itinerary being automatically cancelled by the airlines and we will not be liable for any losses or expenses you incur as a result of this. 6. If you cancel your holiday a) You, or any member of your party, may cancel your travel arrangements at any time. Written notification from the person who made the booking or your travel agent on your behalf must be received at our offices. Since we incur costs in cancelling your travel arrangements, you will have to pay the applicable cancellation charges up to the maximum shown. Note: If the reason for your cancellation is covered under the terms of your insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim these charges. b) If one member of the party wishes to cancel, this may mean that the accommodation booked will be under occupied and will result in the remaining passengers having to pay any applicable supplements to retain the booking e.g. changing a twin room to a single room. The person who cancels will still remain liable to pay cancellation charges as per the scale below. No of days before Amount of cancellation departure when we charges expressed as a receive your percentage of the holiday cancellation price (excluding insurance) Inclusive package holidays 71 days or more Deposit only 70 – 57 days 30% or deposit 56 – 43 days 50% if greater 42 – 29 days 70% 28 – 15 days 90% 14 days or less 100% Flight only bookings are 100% non-refundable. Please note that if you were advised on any variations to your balance due date at the time of booking, then cancellation terms will also be varied to reflect this and you will be advised of this when you book. c) If you are prevented from taking your holiday you may transfer your booking to someone who could have booked the holiday originally, subject to the approval of all interested suppliers. You must give us reasonable notice before the departure date to enable us to change airline bookings, etc - this normally requires 21 days notice. A transfer fee of £25 per person will be charged plus any additional costs we incur. If you transfer the booking before paying the balance of the price, you will remain liable to pay it (and our transfer fees) if the transferee fails to do so. Airlines generally do not permit names to be changed on bookings and it may therefore not be possible to transfer your booking. In this case, your booking will be treated as a cancellation and you will be liable to pay cancellation charges as detailed above. 7. If we change or cancel your holiday It is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your travel arrangements, but we do plan the arrangements many months in advance. Occasionally, we may have to make changes and we reserve the right to do so at any time. Most of these changes will be minor and we will advise you or your travel agent of them at the earliest possible date. We also reserve the right in any circumstances to cancel your travel arrangements. For example, if the minimum number of clients required for a particular travel

these changes. When such changes are made, we will do our best to help you make arrangements to minimise inconvenience to you. If we are notified, in advance, by the airline of schedule changes affecting your itinerary, we will notify you (if there is time to do so before departure). If the timing change is two hours or less, this will be advised to you on your travel documentation when issued. If the schedule change is more than 12 hours, you may choose to cancel your holiday and receive a full refund and, save where the change is for reasons of force majeure, you will have a right to compensation. We cannot accept responsibility if you miss your departure because you check in late. Whilst we cannot guarantee specific seat allocation, some airlines do accept requests which we will be pleased to pass on. All flights are non-smoking services. 10. If you have a complaint Every effort is made to ensure that the accommodation and resort descriptions we use are fair and accurate in order that you can select the best possible holiday to suit your own personal requirements and tastes. However, if you find on arrival that the accommodation reserved for you or the resort area are not to your personal liking, then we will endeavour to arrange a suitable alternative. Naturally, this will be subject to availability and any extra cost will have to be paid by you at the time of your request to change. Please note, this may be in addition to any cancellation fees levied by the original accommodation booked, and subject to any applicable administration fees. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your holiday, please inform the relevant supplier (e.g. your hotelier) and our resort representative/head office immediately who will endeavour to put things right. If your complaint is not resolved locally, please follow this up within 28 days of your return home by writing to our Customer Services Department giving your booking reference and all other relevant information. Please keep your letter concise and to the point. This will assist us to quickly identify your concerns and speed up our response to you. If we are unable to provide the booked travel arrangements, you can either have a refund of all monies paid or accept an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us, if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value). If it is necessary to cancel your travel arrangements, we will pay to you compensation as set out in this clause. In accordance with EU Regulation 2111/2005 we are required to advise you of the actual carrier operating your flight/connecting flight/transfer. We do this by providing details on your confirmation invoice. Any changes to the actual airline after you have received your tickets will be notified to you as soon as possible and in all cases at check-in or at the boarding gate. Such a change is deemed to be a minor change. Other examples of minor changes include alteration of your outward/return flights by less than 12 hours, changes to aircraft type, change of accommodation to another of the same standard. If we make a major change to your holiday, we will inform you or your travel agent as soon as reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. Examples of “major changes” include changes to your UK or end destination airport, alteration to the times of outward or return flights by more than 12 hours, changes to your resort area or an offer of accommodation of a lower official classification. You will have the choice of either accepting the change of arrangements, accepting an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value), or cancelling your booked holiday and receiving a full refund of all monies paid. In all cases, except where the major change arises due to reasons of force majeure, we will pay compensation as detailed below:

You can ask for copies of the transport companies’ contractual terms, or the international conventions, from our offices at Premier Holidays Ltd, Westbrook, Milton Road, Cambridge, CB4 1YG. Under EU law (Regulation 261/2004) you have rights in some circumstances to refunds and/or compensation from your airline in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delay to flights. Full details of these rights will be publicised at EU airports and will also be available from airlines. However reimbursement in such cases will not automatically entitle you to a refund of your holiday cost from us. Your right to a refund and/or compensation from us is set out in clause 7. If any payments to you are due from us, any payment made to you by the airline will be deducted. N.B. This clause does not apply to any separate contracts that you may enter into for excursions or activities whilst on holiday. 12. Prompt assistance in resort If the contract we have with you is not performed or is improperly performed as a result of failures attributable to a third party unconnected with the provision of the services, or as a result of failures due to unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all due care had been exercised, or an event which we or our suppliers, even with all due care, could not foresee or forestall, and you suffer an injury or other material loss, we will offer you such prompt assistance as is reasonable in the circumstances. 13. Passport, visa and immigration requirements Your specific passport and visa requirements, and other immigration requirements are your responsibility and you should confirm these with the relevant Embassies and/or Consulates. Everyone, including infants and children, must be in possession of their own passport, which must be valid for six months beyond the date of return. The names shown on your confirmation must match your passports. If you are in doubt about your travel documentation, you should check with the Passport Advice Line on 0300 222 0000. We do not accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements and we will not be liable for any costs incurred or for any changes to arrangements or loss for cancellation. 14. Excursions Excursions or other tours that you may choose to book or pay for whilst you are on holiday are not part of your package holiday provided by us. For any excursion or other tour that you book, your contract will be with the operator of the excursion or tour and not with us. We are not responsible for the provision of the excursion or tour or for anything that happens during the course of its provision by the operator. 15. Insurance It is advisable to take out an insurance policy at the time of booking as you are at risk as soon as your deposit is paid to us. If you fail to make appropriate insurance arrangements in a timely manner, we will not be liable for any losses or expenses which you may incur for claims which might normally have been covered by insurance in respect of circumstances for which we are not responsible. Where you take our insurance, the premium must be paid at the time of booking. If, once you have considered the cover in detail, you decide that it does not meet your needs, you may have a full refund of the premium if you return the documents within 14 days, unless you have travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim. After 14 days, the insurance premium is not refundable under any circumstances. This brochure is our responsibility, as your tour operator. It is not issued on behalf of, and does not commit the airlines mentioned herein or any airline whose services are used in the course of your travel arrangements. Please note that in accordance with Air Navigation Orders in order to qualify for infant status, a child must be under 2 years of age on the date of its return flight.

Important Information Brochure accuracy Every care has been taken to ensure that all information detailed in this brochure was accurate at the time it went to print. However, due to circumstances beyond our control some details may change. It is possible that an advertised facility may be withdrawn or temporarily unavailable according to season or due to weather conditions, lack of demand, a private function, for maintenance, renovation etc. We will advise you of any significant changes to facilities at the time of booking or as soon as practical if information is received after your booking has been confirmed and if time permits. Similarly, some attractions mentioned in the brochure may not be open year round or on every day of the week. Please ask at the time of booking if this is important to you. Weather information, mileage and maps given in this brochure are guidelines only. Building and development work Some locations may unavoidably have work underway to public areas and facilities. Whilst we will endeavour to advise you of any building or refurbishment work underway at any properties you have booked, we cannot anticipate where work will take place outside of the hotel grounds. All the hotels featured strive to maintain high standards and, as such, there may be the necessity for some ad-hoc and unforeseeable maintenance work. Child reductions Reductions are available for children (aged 2–11 years) if they share a room with two full paying adults. Some hotels provide a folding bed or there may be a sofa bed in the room. On occasion, a child may be accommodated free of charge, but may have to share existing bedding, which may involve sharing a double bed with adults. Prices for infants (under 2 years on the date of return travel) are available on request. Data protection policy In order to process your booking and to ensure that your travel arrangements run smoothly and meet your requirements we, and your travel agent, need to use the information you provide such as name, address, any special needs/dietary requirements etc. We take full responsibility for ensuring that proper security measures are in place to protect your information. We must pass the information on to the relevant suppliers of your travel arrangements such as airlines, hotels, transport companies etc. The information may also be provided to security or credit checking companies, public authorities such as customs/immigration if required by them, or as required by law. Additionally, where your holiday is outside the European Economic Area (EEA), controls on data protection in your destination may not be as strong as the legal requirements in this country. We will not, however, pass any information onto any person not responsible for part of your travel arrangements. This applies to any sensitive information that you give to us such as details of any disabilities, or dietary/religious requirements. (If we cannot pass this information to the relevant suppliers, whether in the EEA or not, we cannot provide your booking. In making this booking, you consent to this information being passed on to the relevant persons.) Please note that where information is also held by your travel agent, this is subject to your agent’s own data protection policy. Your data controller is Premier Holidays. You are entitled to a copy of your information held by us. If you would like to see this please contact us. We may make a small charge for providing this to you. Early or late arrivals Rooms are normally available on your arrival day from 1500 hours onwards and you will be required to vacate your room by mid-day on your departure day.

Honeymoon and anniversary offers If you are celebrating your honeymoon, silver, pearl, ruby, gold or diamond wedding anniversary (offers not valid for other anniversaries) and wish to take up any offer, you must advise us at the time of booking. You will be required to present your marriage certificate to claim any offers. Meals Meal arrangements will be shown on your confirmation. If a half board option is selected, the fixed menu meals are usually taken in one specified restaurant in the hotel and may be buffet style. Many hotels hold special dinners on 24 December and/or 31 December, which are usually compulsory for stays including these dates. We will advise you of the price of any applicable compulsory special dinners at the time of booking, if known, or at a later date when a revised invoice will be issued. Minors Some countries have special requirements relating to entry for children under 18 years, which may involve you obtaining particular documentation. For example, you may be required to obtain an affidavit from a notary if a child is not being accompanied by both parents. You should check this information with the relevant consulate or embassy. Room descriptions Hotels use a variety of descriptions for rooms to indicate varying views as well as better facilities. For example, a standard room type, but with sea view, may be described as ‘superior’ or ‘deluxe’, although the décor and size of the room itself will be the same. In some cases, a ‘superior’ or ‘deluxe’ room may be the standard room type available in the hotel, so you should not automatically assume that this indicates a room of a higher standard. Some beach resort rooms are described as seafacing. However, these rooms may not necessarily have a view of the sea, as it may be affected by plants and trees which grow quickly in tropical climates. Room occupancy Rooms are often described as being ‘twin’ or ‘double’. This simply means that the room is suitable for an occupancy of two and does not guarantee a particular bed configuration. Where three adults share a room, accommodation may be in a standard sized twin room with an extra folding bed or in the existing bedding which may involve adults sharing a double bed. This may be slightly cramped and you should bear in mind that there will be no additional storage space. If a folding bed is required this must be requested at time of booking and an extra charge may be made by the hotel which is payable locally. The names and arrival details of all room occupants will be required at the time of booking. Many hotels will make a charge payable locally if occupancy is amended during your stay. Pregnancy If you are pregnant, please inform us at the time of booking. Both airlines and ferry companies place restrictions on travel in the last trimester of pregnancy. These do vary from one company to another, so check with us and we will give you current advice. Premier Plus Offers All offers are available for holidays started and completed within the period stated and all nights must be consecutive. They may also be subject to availability and for bookings made by a certain date or may be withdrawn at any time without prior notice. Offers for items such as champagne are per booking, not per person. Where more than one offer is advertised, these may not be combinable and you may have to choose which you prefer. This will be explained to you at the time of booking.

Prices and payment Telephone quotes, including any holidays not featured in our brochure where tailor made arrangements apply, are subject to written confirmation. We are happy to tailor-make an itinerary to match your exact requirements. This means that you can opt to upgrade flights to premium economy, business or first class (occasionally, contracts require that domestic or inter-Asia flights will be booked in economy class). We include all pre-payable airport taxes. Your confirmation invoice will clearly detail what is included in your holiday price. Payment can be made by cheque, debit or credit card. Please note that payments made by credit card may be subject to a handling fee. Some items cannot be included in the holiday price. In some countries, for example, airport taxes are payable locally on departure or hotels may levy a service charge per room night and in some cases, local authorities impose tourism taxes, which are compulsorily added to hotel bills and payable locally. The charges may be introduced/changed/increased without notice and are beyond our control. Similarly, you are responsible for obtaining and paying for any visas required. You may also find there is a local charge for car parking at hotels, the use of tennis courts, hire of equipment, sun beds, watersports, health clubs, baby sitting, children’s clubs, cots, porterage etc. Safety and security You can obtain current travel advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Travel Advice Unit at their website www.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougo. If the Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises against travel to a destination, then we would take appropriate action and seek to arrange an alternative holiday, subject to availability. In such an event, your holiday cost would be adjusted to reflect the revised arrangements. In some cases it may be necessary to cancel your holiday completely, in which case you will receive a full refund of all monies paid to us. Special needs We are delighted to offer advice for clients with special needs or disabilities. Not all hotels have adapted rooms and some airports and types of aircraft may not be able to accommodate certain requirements. In order for us to ensure that we can meet your needs, and that we comply with airline regulations, it is essential that you complete a Special Needs form. The detailed information you provide will enable us to ensure that all the suppliers of services for your holiday are aware of your requirements and we can, if necessary, make adjustments to your itinerary at the outset to accommodate them. If the form is not sent to you, please ensure that you ask for it. Special requests If you have any special requests relating to your holiday, you should advise us when you make your booking. Although we are happy to pass on any requests to our suppliers, we cannot guarantee that they will be fulfilled and any additional costs involved will be passed on to you. Special requests do not form part of your contract with us. Tours Some tours may only operate if a minimum number of people book. Where this is the case, we will notify you at the time of booking that the tour is subject to a minimum number of people and should the tour be cancelled, you will have the choice of accepting an alternative (subject to availability) or, if the tour is a significant part of your holiday, you will be offered the option to cancel your holiday and receive a full refund of all monies paid.
