Playing outside should be available for everyone, children with or without a disability, players young and old, different nationalities, languages, preferences, or needs. The designated ‘fun zone’ at University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus has been created in recognition of the knowledge that play is a core ingredient in learning and development. UQ embraced the opportunity to incorporate interactive technology into their latest playspace, built in 2019, with the inclusion of the fun and educational Yalp Memo Activity Zone, the first of its kind in Australia.

This fun and interactive game offers truly exciting educational and physical play all in one with games to challenge children from age 6+ by using their brains and creativity, combined with movement, in a super-fun format. It includes maths and memory games which train the brain as well as lots of speed and other running games. The interactive play pillars provide a lot of fun in a confined space and encourage gamification. Gamification is the application of game thinking and game techniques and shows you can quickly learn new things without using guides or manuals.

If you’re looking to get your bigger kids away from their screens and into the outdoors, this is well worth a visit. With a big library of games to choose from, the Memo is one of the most versatile and dynamic outdoor play products in the world.
