Rapper and singer Michael “Big Blanco” Cruz is doing things his way and making no apologies for it. The songwriter will release “Blanco’s Way” at the top of 2022. The project will be his latest since the April 2021 release of “The Takeover.” The 5-track EP helped the Rocky Mount, North Carolina native build a buzz in his hometown while growing the number of followers to his social media platforms. He’s definitely having his way! In 2021 Big Blanco turned his focus to releasing hot singles, one right after another. Tracks like “Netflix,” “Poison,” “Paquioa,” and “Disree (Need Me)” allowed him to give fans a peek into

what's coming their way. “I’m just showing them me,” said Big Blanco. “I’m having my way and doing me.” Blanco exudes “big boss energy” as he’s usually dripped in jewelry and fashion. The Puerto RicanBlack lyricist enjoys showing his versatility through Trap Music, R&B and Hip Hop. He got his start as a battle rapper during his teenage years after a close friend encouraged him. Big Blanco remembers looking at the TV screen and seeing Fat Joe, Big Pun, DMX, Lil Wayne and Drake and knowing he had further to go.

As he began making records he found himself having to switch up his style to make the kind of records that could be commercially successful. The experience challenged him and motivated him to hone his craft. “It was difficult [at first] to make hot music because you gotta go from being very lyrical to dumbing it down,” Big Blanco said. “I had to let off the gas a little bit.”

“The Takeover” helped to solidify Big Blanco as a force with his powerful voice, infectious lyrics and impeccable story-telling. The project included production from J. Manifest and Sequence Clark, also from North Carolina. He says his desire to provide for his 2-year-old daughter motivated him to go for what he wants. He hopes the music he makes resonates with other dreamers and those who want to live like 03 | @theemamarazzi epks

their favorite rappers. “All my life I’ve been told that I’m next up and that I got it,” says Big Blanco. He’s anxious for everyone to finally hear “Blanco’s Way.” The project will prove that they’re right—and it’s his time!
