"I'M READY TO BLOW THE F#CK UP!" -LUIS HAZE Luis resides in Ocala, Florida and pursues a music career. He has collaborated with artists like OG Boobie Black, Bezz Believe, and CJ of the single "Whoopty."

IMPATIENTLY WAITING

L

uis Haze’s newest single, "Lunchable,” made its way into Tampa, Florida nightclubs and strip clubs at the height of the pandemic. As the city’s entertainment hubs fought to stay open, Luis’ salacious track became a fave for the DJs and the dancers, proving his music to be pandemic-proof. In 2021 he turned his focus towards expanding his network outside of his state. In January he snagged an interview in Atlanta with Shade 45. He will work with Core DJs, the world’s largest DJ coalition, to help break “Lunchable” in clubs and on radio across the country.

Luis began pursuing music as he was recovering from a horrific forklift incident that nearly cost him his leg. Luckily for him, a Trauma Doctor stayed later than he usually did, and was there to assist with the much needed operation. “If he hadn’t been there I would have lost my leg,” says Luis, reflecting back on that life-altering experience that forced him to learn how to walk again. Post-recovery, he served a year in jail for a drug charge. Compelled to take back control of his life, he decided to pursue Continued... music. Luis has collaborated with Dipset’s J.R. Bezz Believe, and CJ (“Whoopty”). He has also served as an opening act for Torey Lanez and Smokepurrp. Producer Christian Haywood met Luis when he lived in Oregon back in 2017. Haywood says Luis has impeccable story-telling ability and his hustler-type music is infectious. “He stood out to me more than a lot of the other artists I’ve worked with,” says Haywood. “Right now I’m focused on creating quality music,” says Luis, who currently lives in Ocala, Florida. “And it’s important for me to get out there for everyone to hear.” The Bronx, New York native moved to Florida some years ago. He describes it as a “whole different lifestyle” than what he was used to. “Everything is different from the way people act, how they talk, and even how they interact with the music,” he says. Rather than make music in the big cities of Florida, he opts for quieter and more reclusive studios in Ocala. Ocala is also home to actor John Travolta who owns private planes that take off and land 14 minutes away in Jumbolair, courtesy of a massive airstrip. Luis travels often but likes to stay low-key during his creative process.

He says places like Miami and Orlando embrace the high-roller lifestyle. But it can be problematic. “It’s good to pursue music away from bigger cities,” says Luis, who admits to blowing thousands of dollars trying to project a certain lifestyle as an artist promoting his music. “As you’re building it’s best to stay away from that—and it’s something I had to learn.” The “Me Versus Society” recording artist says it’s easy to get caught up with maintaining an image of what it looks like to be a rapper. But the buck stops with him. “You’re seeing more and more artists talk about finances and not having it like we think they have it,” says Luis. “And it’s like a peep into the industry that should open people’s eyes.” During a performance at Orlando’s Tier Nightclub, Luis managed to move the crowd with his music. “It’s always a good feeling when you see people vibe to your music,” says Luis. “One day everybody will know the words to all of my songs." “I’m ready to blow the f*ck up,” he adds.
