Mario Canon plans to make a big statement with the release of "Breaking Hearts-Breaking Records."

Fresh off the heels of the “Lovers and Friends Festival,” Mario Canon will release an album project titled “Breaking Hearts-Breaking Records.” If that’s any indication of the year he’s having, then you know he plans to ruffle some feathers. The Starpower artist-entrepreneur recently opened for Ms. Lauryn Hill, Usher, Ludacris, Lil Jon, TLC, Ciara, and Nelly among others. With the support of Chicago legend Twista, Canon is finding his rightful place at hip hop’s table. “I never thought in a million years that Twista would be the one to break Mario Canon to the world,” said Canon about his mentorship with the fast-rapping Chicago legend. “It’s surreal at moments.” Mario Canon’s “Notice Me” video debuted in February of this year and recently

surpassed 1M views. He has also garnered more than 1M Spotify plays. When he shares his milestones on social media, he is aware that not everyone is rooting for his success. Some may even want him to fail. He admits he was once reluctant to share his highlights publicly because of this. But Twista encouraged Canon not to hold back. “Twista told me, ‘Let ‘em know what you’re about,’” recalls the “Play to Win” artist. “He told me it’s okay to be humble but I’m actually doing sh*t and I have to get comfortable sharing that.” Canon was part of the “Legends of Hip Hop Tour'' with Twista. He has performed at large venues across the country with audiences of as many as 20,000 people. He says he still works like he has “never achieved anything” and he looks for opportunities to grow. After all, he is set on becoming a household name.

Mario's newest album project will silence his critics and prove he has staying-power. @THEEMAMARAZZI EPKS I 3

Mario Canon says he never imagined he'd be mentored by hip hop rapper Twista. The Chicago legend has encouraged Mario to push past his critics and be true to his artistry. Now the StarPower emcee travels to network and be around likeminded people who support his vision. (See bottom right.)

The “Breaking Hearts-Breaking Records” album will be his most vulnerable project todate. He hopes it will allow him to better connect with listeners and show more about who he is. “This album is about transparency and truthfulness,” said Canon. “I’m talking about all of the things that people never want to talk about. I’m talking about being homeless at one point and getting my cars repoed.” While these are topics some starving artists shy away from, Canon doesn’t. When he first decided to focus on his artistry he struggled to balance the constraints of a traditional 9 to 5 job. This created tough times. But those were humbling experiences because it inspired him to level up. He now owns a gym and several commercial properties. Through entrepreneurship he was able to gain more flexibility and could travel for shows and other networking opportunities. These days Canon also surrounds himself with people who have the same vision as him–those whose support is never in question. Canon will continue to set the tone and never follow the mode as an artist and as an individual. When the fashion-forward artist made the choice to pivot from his shortcut hairstyle in exchange for loc extensions, it sent some people into a frenzy. When asked about his new look Canon said, “This was an opportunity for me to reinvent myself. I got the attention I wanted and didn’t want–but it got them talking.” With the release of “Breaking Hearts-Breaking Records” they’ll have even more to talk about! Canon hopes to enter the iTune charts as an independent artist when the project drops this summer. @THEEMAMARAZZI EPKS I 3
