THE NEW N.W.A. Da'Shon "Hard Head" Jeter is ready to introduce the world to a New West Association. He says that he and fellow members have what it takes to make the West Coast dominate hip hop music once again. Hard Head feels that substance is missing from today's music. But he says that N.W.A is getting ready to put a crease in it!

est Coast music is about to get a face lift—if a W group of NWA artists have anything to say about it—and

they do. During the early-to-mid 1990s, Hip Hop music from the West Coast dominated radio airwaves and sales. The gangsta-style music was used for some of the biggest movie soundtracks of that time like “Boyz N Tha Hood.” Although controversial, it was considered “reality rap.” Groups like N.W.A. used music to shed light on social issues happening in their neighborhoods from police brutality to homicide and poverty. ...continued

“That’s when the West Coast was its strongest,” says Hard Head, owner of Hard Head Productions and member of New West Association. “They weren’t talking about drugs and lean.” In recent years, Hard Head has collaborated with artists like “Boom Bam” of Compton’s Most Wanted and even Dr. Dre’s son, rapper-producer Curtis Young. Hard Head has ran in many West Coast crews and entertainment circles. He is cousin to Eugene “Big U” Henley, founder of Developing Options, former manager to Nipsey Hussle, and leader of the West Gang. Over the years Big U has tapped Hard Head for help with his artists. But now, Hard Head will be at the forefront, creating music of his own. “We gon’ put a crease in the West Coast,” says Hard Head of South Central LA. Hard Head formed New West Association to bring back the retro sound of West Coast music while infusing some of the sounds of today.

NEW WEST ASSOCIATION I MAMARAZZI EPKS Hard Head (center) is pictured with Big U (far left) and Suge Knight (far right). Big U once managed the late Nipsey Hussle. Knight was the CEO of Death Row Records, a legendary label that once included Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur and Dr. Dre..

He expects that not everyone from the West Coast is going to like it. Hard Head says many of them have strayed from some of the originality the West Coast is known for. “We’re gonna keep it West Coast but put a new swing on it,” says Hard Head. “I feel like there’s gonna be a clash between some of them and some of us.” New West Association is also launching a line of apparel items. “All of these groups are kind of the same right now,” says Killa of New West Association. “One dress-code, one look, choke chains, colorful dreads, and skinny jeans.” “With us, everybody has their own sound, image and message,” adds Killa. “We want to keep it traditionally West.” When asked if the New West Association is purposely using the same acronym as N.W.A. Hard Head said that although it wasn’t on purpose, fans are likely to call them the new N.W.A. It says he doesn’t have a problem with that.

Control was released in fall 2020. The track featured Boom Bam of "Compton's Most Wanted."

New West Association will release new music in 2021.

Much like N.W.A., Hard Head hopes that New West Association's legacy includes making music of substance that puts attention back on the west coast.

Hard Head is pictured with his father, G Pops. He has been incredibly supportive of Hard Head's decision to move to the forefront as an artist creating music.
