Young Exstacy has been making a name for herself as a rap artist in the DMV area, but wants femcees from the area to receive greater recognition.

If she has things her way,

Young Exstacy will be coming to a town near you and

painting it pink. But this colorful and stylish young rapper from Maryland has much more to offer than glitz and glam. When she takes the stage she will show that she’s a real lyricist with bars harder than a lot of her male counterparts.

The fem-cee says there’s a lot of competition in the DMV area she was raised in, but the women don’t get a lot of love from male artists.

“They don’t really uplift female rappers here,” she says. “Female artists don’t get posted by the guys and they don’t really see us as competition.”

But the rivalry nature of the DMV has made Young Exstacy take her pen game seriously. When working on collab-records with male artists her talent often has them rewriting their own material.

“They think her lyrics are harder than they should be for a girl,” says her mom. “But that’s just how she raps. “She has written for many of them.”

Young Exstacy describes herself as a “different rapper” who brings something new to the table. Inspired by the old school music she would hear her mother play, her musical taste may vary from many artists her age.

“I like old school music because they were actually talking about real life,” said Young Exstacy. “I don’t mind talking about stuff I’ve gone through or am going through.”

She uses her music to express herself and the things she aspires to have. Young Exstacy is

versatile, however, and enjoys making the kind of music that helps you forget about hard times.

“I really like making club music and street stuff,” she said. “I’m kind of a savage type!”

Young Exstacy often practices rapping her lyrics while on a treadmill–helping her develop performance stamina. Her single titled

“Run It Up” shows off her lyrical skills in only 1

minute and 47 seconds. She followed that release with another record called

“I’m a Gansta.” Releasing tracks

back-to-back helps her get a feel for what listeners want to hear from her. She is hopeful that at least one of her records will catch on with listeners around the country.

The emerging young star will perform in Texas in May and also join a tour with

Worldwide and Shade 45 in August. It will be her first time performing, but she’s confident that her music and on-stage energy will make her unforgettable.

“I’m always in something shining, got stuff poppin’, tight-fitted, popping colors–bright colors to go with my bright personality,” says Young Exstacy, describing her wardrobe.

The trendsetter already has her mind on ownership. She recognizes that the looks she serves are admired by many. Young Ecstacy plans to start a business that sells her favorite
