Neo-Soul singer Zyesha Yamari is gearing up for the July 16 release of her newest single titled “Astrological Lover.” “The track, which will debut on her birthday, is heavily inspired by a brief romance she experienced after opening herself up to the idea of dating again.
“I met this guy whose smile was just gorgeous,” recalls Zyesha. “Then I found him on Facebook, friended him but didn’t talk to him initially.” As time passed the two did begin chatting. They had a 4-hour conversation and connected on a spiritual level. They also talked about zodiac signs. Zyesha is a Cancer and the guy is a Pisces— both water signs. “The energy was just there,” Zyesha described. “We didn’t work out but we definitely connected— and I made a song about it.” If “Astrological Lover” is any indication of what’s to come from Zyesha’s upcoming album slated to be released in the fall, then we can expect a sultry concoction of good music that has the singer wearing
her heart on her sleeve. She has experienced a lot of loss in her life and finds therapy in writing about betrayal, grief, and heartbreak. “At one point in my life I had lost everything—my job, my relationship, my brother and my mom,” Zyesha admits. “I lost everything down to my clothes.” After a split with her daughter’s father her mental health took a significant hit. It’s something she wishes that others would take more seriously and feel encouraged about getting the help that they need. “I will never be that same person,” says Zyesha, reflecting back. The singer-songwriter is currently in the studio creating a new album titled “XTC.” “Music takes me to a place that no human-being can take me,” Zyesha told radio personality “Rolls Royce” of Power 93.5 in a March 2020 interview. The host of the “RELL-ism” podcast, Rello Edwards, has worked with Zyesha to serve as a soundboard for the new music she is
