International Women's Day

Although given one day, 8 March, on the international calendar, International Women’s Day has created a month of reflection on the role of women in business as we approach the second quarter of the year.

On Thursday 5 March, Management for Design attended the annual International Women’s Day breakfast at The Palladium, Crown, Southbank, along with a number of our guests, ahead of the global event for International Women’s Day on Sunday 8 March. All around the world, International Women’s Day celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women, while focusing world attention on areas still requiring action to ensure that women’s equality is gained and maintained in all aspects of life.

The theme for this year’s breakfast tied in with this year’s global ‘Make it Happen’ theme, with the title ‘Does Gender Equality Benefit Us All?’ Panellists discussed insights and ideas for action and change, with distinguished speakers including Geraldine Doogue and Judge Frances Millane. The event provided a terrific networking opportunity among Melbourne’s business leaders and an opportunity for reflection and engagement surrounding the role of women in business today.

The buzz at this year’s breakfast reinforced what Management for Design already know — that with female business leaders on the rise, that glass ceiling is starting to crack. Management for Design is one of a growing number of businesses in Australia with female staff in leadership positions and with a female Director, Gordana Milosevska, at the helm on equal footing with her male counterpart, Robert Peake.

At Management for Design we believe that business success is amplified when men and women are working together. Working in tandem we have at our disposal diversity of opinion, increased volume of ideas and a broader skill set for more effective management of all of our service offerings.
