for longer, burning more fat than you could burn doing many land exercises. Interested? Come and check out our Aqua-cise class on Mondays from 9am-9:50am at the Manassas Park Community Center Pool.
Aqua-cise:
Take a step into the pool to keep up your muscle tone and get the low impact full body exercise you’ve been looking for. An article from Livestrong.com by Allison Stevens states that aquatic fitness provides buoyancy, taking away most or all impact on your bones, joints and muscles, while the water adds pressure to your body, which comforts joints and internal organs and reduces stress on your heart. This allows you to work harder
Social Opportunities

Each month we will feature one of the dailly programs for the Social Butterfly in you. Our Social Opportunitiy Programs run all week, so make sure to check out the schedule for a full list of what we have to offere!
Board Bonanza:
Do you love playing board games? Do you miss playing the classic games that you did when you were younger? Every Tuesday, from 12pm-2pm, we 1
will have a variety of games available for you to play. Did you know that playing board games can reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia? A study in the New England Journal of Medicine found that challenging your brain with mentally stimulating leisure activities is great for your mind. Seniors who participated in such activities about once a week for a 20-year period reduced the risk of dementia by 7 percent. Those who engaged in these activities more often reduced their risk even more -- by 63 percent!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Lynne Spencer
Former Manassas Park resident, Lynne Spencer, loves everything about Manassas Park. She lived in the City from 1983-2009 and says she always loved how close the community was (and still is!) and how there was always so much for her children to do. Now a grandmother to 2 boys and 2 girls, she spends her time watching tv and making crafts and gift boxes.
Lynne has made a lot of friends who are still a part of the Senior Program in Manassas Park and enjoys coming to see them on Wednesdays for their Senior Socials. Lynne loves life and cherishes every moment. When asked what words she lives by, she said: “Live your life to the fullest. I believe that more now than ever.”
