NATIONAL MEDIA CONCLAVE MEDIA AND SOCIETY - CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS

With the advancement of communication technology and multiplicity of media, communication paradigms and value system of the society have changed. Trust in institutions, sources of information and governance has slowly eroded. The reasons for this are multiple but one of the media imperatives in a fast developing and transiting society. Media is a powerful tool of communication. With the click of a button message from the media reach all parts of the globe and create perceptions which may or may not be a reality but lead to formation of public opinion. Such strong are these opinions that they can sway intelligentsia, judiciary and legislature. Society also gets influenced in a big way thereby affecting and reshaping the social fabric. Students are the future of any society and are vulnerable to all sorts of impressions, perceptions or opinions. It is high time that right at this stage i.e. stage of infancy in the communication world, they are exposed to the best practices in the media, its obligations and duties to society. In such a scenario a big responsibility also gets cast on media as it has to on the one hand ensure its readability and on the other hand preserve and inculcate the values, traditions and ethos of the society. Through this conclave the best in the media, professional as well as the budding media persons can exchange their views on one platform.

Gathering

The Media conclave, which is one of the finest in the field, is being organized by the Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities, Manav Rachna International University. The Conclave will witness a prestigious gathering of reputed media professionals, media educators and media handlers from all walks of media industry. They are expected to be present and speak about the challenges and prospects of the media in changing environs. The gathering shal also comprise budding and aspiring media professionals.
