Dr. ADHIKARLA SYAMA Assistant Professor Bepartment of Biotech, FET MRIIRS, Faridabad e-mail: syama.fet@mriu.edu.in TEACHING EXPERIENCE 1.

Assistant Professor at Dept. of Biotech, FET, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad August 2017 – till date I have been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students of Biotechnology the subjects viz.,Biochemistry, Animal biotechnology, Food packaging technology, Thermodynamics of a bioprocess, biosensors and biochips, DNA microarray and its applications. I also take practical classes for the subject Bio analytical techniques and biochemical engineering for undergraduate students.

RESEARCH INTERESTS Evolutionary and disease genomics. RESEARCH EXPERIENCE 1.

Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, Delhi Jan 2017 – Aug 2017 Worked as Research Associate I at IGIB in GOMED project. This project mainly focussed on the bioinformatic analysis of omic data of patients with rare genetic disorder and assist medical professionals in their diagnosis and

treatment. My

role was to analyse the data, mainly whole exome/genome and provide genetic summary to medical professionals. 2.

Institute of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine April 2015 - August 2016 During my doctoral research period, I worked on modelling neuropsychiatric disorders and understanding the mechanism of these diseases by bridging the genotype -phenotype gap using NGS data sets and pipelines

3.

Research Associate at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore Nov 2013 – Mar 2015 Studied the effects if inbreeding in a cohort of Schizophrenia cases in a rural south Indian population. The study focussed on inbreeding effects on the clinical, socio-demographic and minor physical anomalies as endophenotype variables.

4.

Post Doctoral Fellow at Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Chennai Worked for Genographic India Project sponsored by National Geogaphic Society, IBM and Waitt fmily foundation. The primary aim of this project was to identity the genetic basis of human migration using Non-Recombining Y chromosome and Mitochondrial DNA in Indian population.
