Manav Rachna International University Manav Rachna International University (NAAC ‘A’ Grade University) is a Deemed to be University, under section-3 the UGC Act of 1956. Originating in 1997 as Career Institute of Technology and Management (CITM), an esteemed educational entity, it gained deemed university status in 2009. It consists of various faculties including Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS), Faculty of Computer Applications (FCA), Faculty of Planning and Architecture (FPA). Manav Rachna International University is an embodiment of Manav Rachna Vidyanatariksha which signifies the creation of human beings or individuals with attention to all components of holistic growth. The concept of 'Manav' is accorded the fundamental status. Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) The institution was established in the year 1997 which achieved the individual status as FET under MRIU in the year 2009. Presently FET is engaged in a focused mission via innovative techniques and creative thinking to give graduate engineers the competitive edge in an everexpanding global market. It offers degree program in nine disciplines: AERO, AUTO, BT, CIVIL, CSE, CSE-IBM specialised courses, ECE, EEE, IT, ME & ME-Industry Integrated. It also offers Master’s programmes in Aeronautical, Auto, Biotechnology, Civil, Computer Electrical, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering as well as in Mathematics and Ph.D. programmes in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and in the various engineering disciplines. About the Department of Physics The department of Physics is a part of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) with an aim to serve the quality education with innovation and cutting edge research in the emerging areas of science and technology. The vision of the department is to create a strong background in basic science for the engineering curriculum by feeding the growing engineer with fine aspects of science to make them inventor or researcher of tomorrow. The strong background created by us helps to develop the technology of future. The department imparts the knowledge of Applied Physics in various area including Laser, Optical Fibres, Quantum Physics, Structure of Solid Materials, and superconducting and nanomaterials. Department of Physics has well equipped laboratory for practical training of physics concept to the students. Department has a diverse faculty pool with good academic record. The main thrust areas of Research are: Material Science, Plasma Science, Nanoscale Materials, Ion Beam Technology and Oxide materials for optoelectronics and spintronics applications.
About the Workshop: Objective of this workshop is to give an overview of the present state of innovations in Science and Technology to create the awareness amongst the B. Tech. students and scientific community in general.
