This issue of REPORTER is dedicated to our Founding Father, Dr O P Bhalla. We salute him on the legacy he has left behind for the entire Manav Rachna Family to cherish and grow from strength to strength.

he second Founder’s day in memory of the birth anniversary of our Founder Chancellor, Dr O P Bhalla was observed with sublimity. Addressing the audience Mr Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI said,” She was grateful to the entire Manav Rachna Family for putting in all their efforts in fulfilling the vision of the Founding Founder. She hoped that the O P Bhalla Foundation and all other Institutions would put in their continued efforts to achieve even greater milestones in the coming year.” Dr Prashant Bhalla, President MREI referred to his mother, “As the pillar of strength behind Dr O P Bhalla. She was always a part of every vision and every dream which they saw and initiated together.”

The chief guest for the occasion, Sh Rishi Nityapragya ji from the Art-of-Living, spoke on the peace which we must all balance within ourselves. Our outer expressions reflected the state of our inner selves.We must, he said, be at peace within ourselves to attain a positive goal in our day to day lives. A mediation round with the audience only helped in de-stressing each one present. His soulful bhajan and the interaction with the audience who asked questions were duly answered with warmth and patience. A hawan, bhajans and Sarswati Vandhana marked the event of the day. eginning by paying homage to Dr O P Bhalla the Founder Visionary the Creator of the Manav Rachna Group which Kirti Azad preferred to call ‘Institutions’ because of the wide horizon which the Institutions had covered, the Parliamentarian went on to motivate the students with his mesmerizing talk. “Nothing succeeds like success,” said Kirti Azad firmly. Went on to explain each wing of the 5 Ds which he said were the basic elements to success in any field. He explained Desire, Devotion, Dedication, Determination and Discipline could seem difficult to follow but would become a way of life if you had a passion.

To start with, “One must have a desire” and the articulate cricketer and MP went on to quote from the poem “pushp ki abhilasha” by the famous poet Sh Makhanlal Chaturvedi. He went on to elucidate that a desire could be fulfilled only when there was a devotion or Sadhana. And the devotion can only come when one is determined to achieve what you desire. And coupled with determination there has to be dedication, he emphasized. “learn from your experiences — whether good or bad” he told the youngsters who listened to him in complete awe.

Speaking about cricket he said, “Sports is my passion and I am a politician by choice,” but he emphasized that he would continue to follow the path of truth and honesty: the values which he had imbibed from childhood.

Commenting on the World Cup semi finals he said, “Australia was like a wounded tiger and wanted victory at any cost. The Indian team gave up without much fight as they could not handle pressure.”

Answering to one of the questions posed by one of the MBA students as to how he sees matches reducing in time from test series to one dayers to 20 over matches and what the future may hold, he replied in his humorous manner and said, “Who knows what the future holds: how about a practice match, a toss and its all over... he said while the audience broke into a hilarious laughter!! Sir we truly enjoyed the interactive session with you.

ew Innovations by students of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions has made life easy.

Put these innovations into action and with a flick of a finger you could sit in your office and put off your oven which is baking a cake at home, or you could have the option of riding an eco friendly bicycle, or make use of a power gate, or a wireless voltage detector could make life easier. Thanks to our young innovators life could just become a little more easy.

Read on to know about the Project Carnival: Exhibition and Competition 2015 organised by Manav Rachna Educational Institutions under the aegis of Dr O P Bhalla Foundation Conveyor belts seen in airports have much more use than just loading baggage. Thanks to the innovations by youngsters from the FET Electricals and Electronics Department. Rajesh Jena and Devashish Gupta of Btech explained how this could be used in the pharmaceuticals industry and they explain, “This innovation could be of immense use in the agricultural industry where the mechanism is used to sort out the good food from damaged food.� Whether it was an industrial robot used for sorting out difference colours or the Gaming Gun the innovations were eye openers. A Computer Application used to navigate all the information you would need for the Delhi metro created by Kunal Relan of 1st year or Sunayana Kohli from Mtech to convert huge data in a simple and cost effective way. Monika Goyal displayed an app helping users to narrow down options for products which could help you choose the right builder for your flat or choose a proper LIC policy. Whether it was the Smart E-rickshaw The event saw an array of projects

grouped under eight categories, namely Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, Computer Science and Engineering, Bio-Tech and Life Sciences, Civil and Architecture, Environmental Science and Holistic Wellness, Healthcare, and lastly Art & Culture and Science. Students of Manav Rachna International Schools took part in the last category under senior wing and junior wing sub-categories. A total of 129 projects of all categories had been selected to be put on display.

During the exhibition, all projects were evaluated, by a panel of external jury comprising of experts mainly from corporate world and some from academia. The prominent members of the jury were the CEO and other senior functionaries from JBM Cadmium, Gurgaon, Chief General Manager, Escorts Ltd., DGM, R&D, Escorts, Faridabad, Sr. Project Manager, R Systems, Noida, a former Executive Director, NHPC, senior representatives from Hughes Systique Corporation, EMC 2, and Yakult Danone India Private Ltd. and senior Professors from IGNOU and MRIU. The evaluation of projects was based on aspects, such as, the originality of the design, the significance of problem being addressed, the impact on potential users and the efficacy of the working prototype, etc.

Mention must be made of the innovations from the Manav Rachna International Schools where not only did the students of MRIS Sector 14 mesmerize with the innovation of music with day to day items but also their creation from best out of wats. They displayed the processes at a milk processing plant and showed their creations through LEGO.

ead by the teachers at MRIS Sector 14, Faridabad and supported by his parents Manoj and Aashima: Saksham Arora has brought laurels for the school in different fields whether it is academics, sports or other activities.And what is even more gratifying is that he makes his teachers and parents proud not only when he is following his regular routine in his own country but he proves his caliber even when he participates in activities as far as Canada.

Saksham was on a visit to Canada with his parents last June where they enrolled him into a soccer training to allow him to nurture his love for sports while on a vacation. And Saksham left no opportunity to let go. He played a soccer match at Timbit at Calrgary, Canada and scored the first goal to win himself a prestigious medal in a foreign country !

At school, guided by his teachers he is an outstanding student and has also cleared two levels of Abacus with A+ grade and is also an all rounder which is apparent from the awards that he has won. Whether it is securing the 2nd position in drawing Competition organized by Udaan, 1st position in Inter School Drawing competition held in D.A.V Public School organized by Attrakt, or the Ist position in drawing competition organized by Life Style, he has brought laurels for his school in different fields.

Being meticulate and careful in all that he does he has won laurels in Intra class English hand writing Competition and the first position in Intra class Hindi hand writing Competition. Also the first position in Intra class Clay Modeling Competition or his laurels in Origami and fancy dress competition just goes to show his interest in a wide range of activities .

It is his desire for achieving the best and the opportunity he is given by his school authorities which makes Shaksham go ahead and perform

in different activities . “I am grateful to Mrs Mamta Wadhwa for giving my son the opportunity to participate in different competitions. This takes his confidence level to a new height,” says mother Aashima. “One has to make that extra effort with the child to see he is an all rounder but all parents these days put in the hard work,” she says with a smile.

“But sports is his passion,” says Aashima. And she attributes this passion to his father who takes out time to play different games with his Son especially cricket. Saksham is an ardent skater and has won prizes at different competitions . In May of 2014 he won the 1st position in Inter School skating competition held at D.A.V Public School organized by Attrakt. . He also won two silver medals in district skating championship and 1st position in Inter School hockey skating Competition held in D.A.V organized by Attrakt recently . In December 2014 he won the 2nd position in Inter school skating competition in Jiva Public School organized by SFS sports.

he very energetic and versatile kindergartener Snehal Gupta of MRIS Sector 14, Faridabad believes in putting in her hundred percent in every activity she participates in. The academic session 2014-15 has been a year of achievements for her. She won prizes in skating, colouring and English recitation competitions. She was honoured by the Ambassador of Denmark and actress Huma Qureshi for bagging second position in colouring competition organized by FREESIA award ceremony held at Embassy of Denmark. She won three silver medals at district skating championship in Rink Race 1, Rink Race 2 and Road race 750 meter. She also won gold medal in skating competition organized by ATTRAKT, held at DAV School. She not only won bronze medal in English recitation at CREATIVE TANTRA but also won gold medal in interschool colouring competition organized by ART CASTLE and CREATIVE TANTRA and also a bronze medal in English Poem competition. evyanshi Rathore sways her badminton racket with perfect. He is in perfect co-ordination with his table tennis bat and ping-pong ball. Deepanshu Garg from MRIS Sector 14 is the number 2 player in the Faridabad district. He was selected for Rajahmundri National Table Tennis Tournament held at Andhra Pradesh. He also secured 3rdseat in Haryana State Tournament and was selected to represent the Haryana Team to take part in the Nationals. This indeed makes his coach and the school feel proud of him.

“Good players inspire themselves, great players inspire others.” And surely Deepanshu is a motivation to his fellow school mates. He believes that winning means that one is ready to go longerinto challenges, work harder and give ones hundred percent. He enjoys his practise sessions and is totally dedicated to his sport which make him and better day by day.

hat’s what Ankit Joshi of Class XI of MRIS Sector 14 does when he is in the basketball court. He is an active player who practices regularly in the school under the guidance of Mr Tanuj Sharma, HOD sports. He has participated in many Basket Ball competitions and has always made his team come out with flying colours by giving tough competition to his opponents. He was selected in ‘India Camp’ which trains the students for various International competitions by winning 25 individual points in Youth National Basketball Championship held at Chandigarh. His team won the Bronze Medal.

He has helped his team won Gold Medals in various competitions namely District Basketball Championship, District Club Basketball Championship, Aravalli college Inter School Basketball Championship.

They also won Gold at Achiever’s Club Inter school Basketball Championship held at Nahar Singh stadium.

His team has also bagged Silver medals in All India Inter School Basketball Championship and Takshila School Basketball Championship matches.

Ankit gave his best performance for his team thus helping them to win Bronze medal at Haryana Youth State’s Basketball Championship held at Bhiwadi, and in Delhi NCR Inter State Basketball Championship held at Noida, Delhi.

He gives all the credit of his achievements to his coach, school authorities and the management . It will not be wrong if we say that “ Basketball is not just a sport for him but a lifestyle”.

he present is a time when human beings are rapidly losing their way in the world and becoming slaves of their own skills and machines. To correct that imbalance a change of attitude in human beings, a new outlook is necessary — to live from with-in to outwards. It has been truly pointed out by an eminent physician that the cause of being sick is chemical imbalance in the body caused by Stress — Stress due to mental emotional and physical discard. We all recognize that a changed outlook is necessary to correct the imbalances. An American motto is ‘Be yourself ’ i.e. be your true self.

This is to live true to our inward nature, to let our inner beauty and goodness shine in every outward expression of ourselves. Such is the life of a true spiritual human being. For high curious reasons make not a man holy nor right wise but a good life makes him beloved with God. A life where in there is all the time an expression of our brotherliness to our fellow man, is the life of a true man.

A great saint was once asked, “How many ways are there to God? To which the reply was. “There are many ways as there are atoms in the universe: But the best and the shortest is service.” And the rules of such service are: To put aside one’s own desires, to render oneself agreeable to others ,to regard ones powers and possessions as intended for the use of others.

We are living at a time of a great world crisis when every where men and women are often assailed. Unless there is peace in the hearts of human beings, there cannot be peace in the world. We need mankind with a spiritual vision leading truly spiritual lives, human beings with a different approach and outlook.

In short a truly holy way of living means not merely labelling ourselves as philosophers because of our intellectual understanding of the truth, but to embody that truth in our lives.

The creator of this universe is one ener-

gy, you may call it God, Allaha, Bhagwan or by any other name. Even Shakespeare has said that A Rose is Rose, it will smell the same with any other name. That means we are all products of the same source. Just like electricity in a bulb, or TV, or AC or refrigerator comes from the same source i.e power house or generator. We are all related to each other. Our basic needs are almost similar. We all want to be loved and respected. Therefore, we must love and respect each other.

How to live life: The Design of each one of us is different due to our stage of journey in life and due to our past experiences. Time is always running, it never stops, each moment becomes a past. Now think that if we had passed that particular moment without brooding over, getting tense or worrying due to any reason, the moment has to pass on.

When every moments has to pass out then why worry, it has to pass on and become the past. That means worries, challenges, problems have to become past and new things, new challenges and new circumstances have to be our present and future. Our worrying becomes useless. So, learn to live every moment peacefully with divine bliss and become a king or a queen on earth. Outside possessions do not matter much. What matters is your state of a mind, a peaceful and happy mind. Go deep inside and concentrate i.e sadhna. It will help you achieve the peace of mind. Through all these efforts and continuous effort you can help yourself to remain peaceful and with tranquility. Nobody can avoid physical pain due to illness or some other body problems. But even these pains can be reduced with your willpower and understanding. Your happiness and tranquility can be increased. It’s only a matter of attitude towards life and understanding life as a whole, that you can face all challenges with boldness.

This positive attitude will make you happy and you will keep others happy.

The students saw the amazing world of books, e-books, magazines and various journals. The variety of books ranged from IT, science, literature, history, geography, biology… you name it and the book was there. The students were astonished to see the automated library processes through the software ‘libsys’, modern facilities like laptops, tabs, etc. being used by the visitors in the library. All in all, it was an enriching experience for students and staff members.

Students of MRIS 21C got a chance see and admire Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhawan which is open for public and is on full bloom.The students got a chance to see and learn about the rarest of qualities of flora & fauna. They learnt about the various kinds of flowers & plants, their species and specific requirements for their proper growth.

Two channels running North to South and two running East to West divide this garden into a grid of squares. There are six lotus shaped fountains at the crossings of these channels. The energetic fountains rising up to height of 12 feet create soothing murmur that enthralls everyone present there.All in all it was an enriching session.

FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE CONTINUES @ MRIS 21C We, at MRIS 21C, believe in making our students learn through experiencing the concepts as far as possible. In the pursuit, we showed our students modes of transport under the theme ‘All About My World’. Students had gone to car showroom last week and had a wonderful learning experience. Today in school students were shown motor bike and bicycle to understand another type of transport.

They learnt about various parts of bikes and safety rules and safety gear used for riding a bike. After this learning experience they expressed their learning outcome through Show and Tell activity in the classroom. HOLI CELEBRATIONS @ MRIS 21C We, at MRIS 21C, believe in celebrating festivals with full verve and vigor. eginning its activities from ‘Ek Mutthi Daan’ campaign, the Dr O P Bhalla Foundation has till date, contributed approximately 10,000 kg rice and 1500 kg wheat our to NGOs Prayas, Sai Milan and Naaz Foundation. It has also been working towards improving GER (Gross Enrolment Ratio) for higher education in Faridabad.

By adopting Mohna village, the Foundation is undertaking regular weekly development activities like teaching, training of teachers, health camps, awareness and cleanliness drives at the Girls’ School and the village. To promote health and wellbeing, the Foundation has conducted several free-of-cost health and nutrition camps in villages such as Mewala, Maharajpur, Mohna, Kheri, Anangpur. Dr O P Bhalla Foundation in collaboration with NGO Prakash Deep has been organizing skill development workshops for students of the NGO, providing them with the

necessary skills for a livelihood. The Foundation has also been dedicatedly supporting the ‘Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat Abhiyaan’ through a series of cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns across various places in Faridabad including the Old Faridabad installed in a phased manner at key locations. ‘Smart Bins’ developed by the students of Manav Rachna Innovation & Incubation Centre (MRIIC) were launched and installed at the venue. The Foundation’s cleanliness mission was further strengthened when Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad, Shri Vijay Singh Dahiya declared Manav Rachna International University as the first polythene-free University of Haryana.

he ceremony was declared open with a Rocket Launch and the program started with the arrival of our distinguished chief guest Ms Shweta Choudhary. She is the first woman from the state of Haryana who made our country proud by winning India’s first medal in the 2014 Asian games. Ms Shweta shared her valuable life experiences with us which were definitely touching and motivating for all of us.

The welcome walk was led by the band leader holding the leader’s stick and was followed by school flag bearer who was followed by our champs from all 6 sections of Nursery, Toddlers and Bloomz.The etic performance Zumba provoked us to stay fit and healthy. Power Rangers of Nursery Life skills, Nursery Science workshop and Nursery I.T. presented events like Yoga and Drill with Umbrella.

Gymnastics and aerobic moves like forward roll, bridge and T-scale were part of the celebrations and a patriotic performance made us remember and salute our Indian super heroes

The event also celebrated the success of the KG students who are now graduating from early years of education to the primary years

irector Principal, MRIS CW Ms Sanyogita Sharma, Headmistress Early Years and Primary wings Ms Jyoti Bhalla and Senior Coordinator Ms Maneesha Kapur were the chief guests for the occasion. The shining stars of KG had been preparing for this mega event for the past fortnight and were looking forward to this day with a lot of enthusiasm.

The day began with Gayatri Mantra and the Manav Rachna song. Over 200 KG children enthralled the audience with their team spirit, coordination and synchronization as they presented yoga, step aerobics, taekwondo and floor exercises.

This was followed by activities like flat race, group fun races like Bucket race, Bob the Builder race, Harry Potter race and Basket the corn race. The highlight of the day was the graduation ceremony for the young stars who are now set to enter into the world of primary education.The children looked every bit the stars with their graduation hats and colourful certificates. Sportek 2014-15 ended with a grand tug of war for parents who participated enthusiastically in the same.

FARE THEE WELL MRIS Charmwood bid farewell to grade V students as they moved to a new class Manav Rachna International School, Charmwood recently bid a farewell on March 10, 2015 to the class V students as they move to a new class and a new wing. The Director Principal Ma’am, Mrs Sanyogita Sharma and the Headmistress of the Primary Wing, Ms Jyoti Bhalla graced the occasion with their presence.

The event started with a choir of students reciting the Gayatri Mantra, followed by a

beautiful blend of an inspirational school and the school song. The choir left the audience mesmerized. It was followed by a few motivational words from the Principal of the school.

The Headmistress discussed the key points like modes of assessment and rules of the Senior Wing, through a Power Point presentation. She encouraged the students and appreciated the work of the teachers. A small presentation of

the pictures of the students of grade 5 was presented and talked about by the Centre Incharges of the three sections.

The event came on an end with an enthralling dance performance by the girls of Grade 4. The students then headed to watch a movie, Madagascars 3. It was fun-filled and delightful day that has left sweet memories with the students and the teachers.

“FARE –THEE-WELL” Bidding Adieu to the First Batch of Grade-XII@ MRIS, Charmwood MRIS, Charmwood, witnessed its first farewell party hosted by the students of GradeXI and dedicated to the First Batch of Grade XII. They bid “Hasta-LA-Vista” by making every moment a special moment for their seniors.

The day started on the auspicious note as the school started with ‘Havan’ to bless the outgoing batch wishing them success in all endeavours. A number of events were organized to mark this nostalgic moment which would go down the memory lane of the outgoing students in the years to come. Grade XI students mesmerized one and all with their heart throbbing and scintillating dance performances and melodious songs. Mr Sanjeev and Mr Shivam enthralled every one with their melodious songs. The highlight of the programme was the Special Citation Ceremony which was held to wish good luck to the young scholars. Students reminisced their fun-filled days in school and expressed how difficult it was for

ACHIEVERS @ MRIS GURGAON The lady with a shooting eye

S

ixteen year old, Nayani Bharadwaj, 5 years back decided to try her luck at shooting and pursue it as a hobby if it interested her. Little did she know then that this sport would become her passion and would put her on the road to success.

No one in her family is involved in any sports, but her mother coaxed her to join shooting. With the help and encouragement of her coach, she quickly learnt the ways of the game and the same year participated in Delhi State Shooting Championship. Her talent and skills were recognised and she qualified for the Pre National Championship and then the Nationals where she did her country proud by winning the bronze medal. Not one to rest with little, she put her heart and soul to practice and at the tender age of 13 qualified the International Selection Trial and was selected to be a part of the Under 19 Indian team. Since then she has represented the country 5 times in the interna-

tional arena and has got the opportunity to play in Germany, Czech Republic, Quwait Singapore and China. Nayani cemented her position as a trustworthy and extremely capable team member by winning the silver medal in Quwait in 2014.

She recently participated in the 58th National Shooting Championship. Nayani enthralled all and made her school proud by winning 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

In these 5 years Nayani has won approximately 15 gold, 20 silver and bronze medals respectively. Shooting is now an integral part of her life and she says that this sport has taught her ‘life skills’ and has increased her patience and concentration level which has also immensely helped her in her academics.

This is just the beginning of her career and she knows that she has miles to go. Her next goal is to participate in the Asian Shooting Championship 2015 and emerge victorious.

BAISAKHI CELEBRATIONS AT MRIS, LUDHIANA In the morning assembly, the children were addressed with a speech educating them about the various facts of the festival and a quiz activity was done to make the assembly more interactive.

A host of theme based activities were planned for various grades with a prime motive of helping children learn

various aspects of the festival of Baisakhi. The themes chosen were- the religious, cultural, environmental aspects and other harvesting festivals celebrated across the country.

The children also spent time reflecting on the significance of Baisakhi in the present milieu. They also understood stubble burning as an environmental hazard and created posters with the slogan: “Say No to Stubble Burning ” The students and teachers did research in the library and used the internet to prepare their presentations on the themes allotted to them. The students were also shown Power Point Presentations and videos to enlighten them about the festival and they thoroughly enjoyed them.

The martial arts demonstration, ‘Kicks and Punches’, was an artistic amalgamation of Taekwondo and Judo. Taught as an art of self-de-

fense, it denoted the indomitable spirit of the little children and their strength and courage to surmount life’s challenges.

Performances like the fusion of Indian, Zumba brought in a lot of appreciation and applause. Children participated in races like Corns in Cones, Relay Race, Caterpillar Race, Bucket Race, Bicycle Race, Pyramid Race, Bicycle race and Children made colourful pyramids and participation was both creative and enjoyable.

Parents were a part of the celebrations and they participated in races like Backward Race, Three-Legged Race, Skipping Race and Balloon Bursting Race.The Couple’s Race saw enthusiastic parents reliving their childhood leaving their fears and apprehensions behind.

The Grand Finale saw the children culminate together to perform the show by their outstanding performance on Waka-Waka, feel the rush and Jai Ho songs.

MRIS Sector 14 FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE CONTINUES @ MRIS 21C We, at MRIS 21C, believe in making our students learn through experiencing the concepts as far as possible. In the pursuit, we showed our students modes of transport under the theme ‘All About My World’. Students had gone to car showroom last week and had a wonderful learning experience. Students were shown motor bikes and bicycles to understand another type of transport. They learnt about various parts of bikes and safety rules and safety gear used for riding a bike. After this learning experience they expressed their learning outcome through Show &Tell activity in the classroom. It was delight to see how beautifully students have learnt and expressed their learning outcome.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY PRESENTATION BY NURSERY FOR KG @ MRIS 21C The students of Nursery had shown a beautiful gesture by presenting an interesting and enthralling assembly for their KG peer group who were graduating to Primary level of the school. They presented heartwarming songs and dance and spoke beautiful lines for their fellow students and made them feel important and cared for. They gave them small token of remembrance to each and every child. The teachers also spoke about their students who have grown into better human beings and are taking another big step in their school journey.

THERE IS NO AGE FOR LEARNING MRIS-sector 14 commenced its 5th “Computer Literacy Programme” under the guidance of trained faculty, Ms Shikha Jindal and Ms Aayushi Aggarwal. This programme is specially designed for our grandparents and parents in order to make them aware of the computer applications. It would help them to make use of computer technology effectively and confidently. The participants would be learning computer basics, internet navigation, sending e-mail, chatting, using storage devices like CDs and Pen drives, digital cameras and many android applications on mobiles etc. They would also learn to use e-ticket booking and even e- banking facility. Grandmothers would certainly enjoy downloading the innovative recipes too.

he Graduation Day organized in MRIS- sector 14 was full of joy and pride for not only the kindergarteners but also for the teachers and their parents as they graduated from KG to grade 1.

The event was held for 2 consecutive days and was graced by Vice President MREI, Dr Amit Bhalla and The Executive Director of MRIS, Sector 21C, Ms Nisha Bhalla on the First Day. The Principal Ms Mamta Wadhwa welcomed the guests and congratulated the parents as well as the students for their efforts through the entire session. Ms Goldi Malhotra- Director Administration- MRIS, graced the occasion on the second day. The ceremony was conducted by the Chief Guests, who gave away the scrolls to the aspiring learners of MRIS Sector 14. Dr Amit Bhalla, in his address updated the parents about the upcoming plans of the school. He congratulated the Academic Excellence Team and the entire teaching staff for their contribution. Ms Malhotra emphasized on the importance of the involvement of parents and grand parents in the upbringing of their children for their healthy development.

Every Trip Shall Enhance Me As a Human Being

hen students and teachers are together outside the classroom, new educational environments and experiences are possible. Students get the opportunity to observe new things.

Around 70 students of Grade III of MRIS sector-14 went on an educational trip to Chandigarh, the first planned city of India.

They were escorted by the Head Jr. School, Ms Shalini Bindra, along with her team of teachers.

Their journey was full of excitement and amazement as many were travelling for the first time without their parents. The children went on to explore the beautiful Rock Garden, the exemplary display of art work made out of waste material. They also visited Choki Daani which gave them the enthralling experience of the village extravaganza. This also enabled them to have not only good time but also enriched their learning and deepened their roots to the values of culture and tradition.

Children were also taken to Chhatbir Zoological Park, which houses hundreds of different mammals, birds and reptiles. This Zoological Park offered an adventurous Lion Safari too. Children also visited the Gurudwara to get the blessings of God. Students were amazed to see 2,500 species of cactus at “Cactus Garden”, an eco system in itself of cacti and succulents, landscaped by Dr J S Sarkaria. They also visited Sukhna Lake. It lies at the foothills of Shivalik Mountains. It was a learning and enjoyable experience for all of them.

The Principal, Ms Mamta Wadhwa, extended a warm welcome to the parents present there and briefed them regarding the functioning of the school and various activities available for their child. The Headmistress, Ms Monika Kathuria, enlightened the parents regarding the basic rules and regulations of the school laying special emphasis on the vision of the institution.

Ms Monica Mukherjee and Ms Elaine ,curriculum implementation specialists, elaborated on the methodologies used to teach phonics and intimated the parents about the learning centers in classrooms which cater to the multiple intelligences. The experts present addressed the queries of the parents and provided satisfactory solutions to their problems.

MRIS Sector 14 grabs 3rd position in FLL, qualifies for nationals The Team Bold Nuts represented by Saksham Sharma of Class VIII-A, Abhimanyu Singh of Class VIII-A, Amarpreet Singh of class X-A, Hardik Madaan of class X-A, Keshav Kapil of Class VII-B and Zahaan Arif of Class VII-D from MRIS Sector 14 brought laurels to the school by qualifying for the International FLL (First Lego League) competition by bagging the 3rd Position at Nationallevel. They had to compete with 36 teams.They prepared a project for the children who cannot see which would eventually help them in learning Geometry.

This would be of great help to the society at large. They worked day and night with full devotion as they believe that nothing can be gained without hard work. Apart from working at the school lab, they also visited the Blind school’ at Amar Colony to get the required information for their project. The team interacted with the students to know their problems faced by them in learning the subject. Our little Bloomerz are always fascinated with the wonderful world of animals, MRIS Sector-14 organized “A Day out at the farm”.

The school ground was turned into a mini play barn where there was a shed for the cow, stable for the horse, pen for the hens, rabbits hopping all around, birds chirping, pugs lazing around and the goats grazing here and there.

The camel and the horse were all set to give the kids a ride on their back. The show began by singing the “Old McDonald” rhyme. The children enjoyed feeding food to the animals.

Our little champs participated in various races with zeal and enthusiasm like crawl race, ball race, animal race, hoopla race and zip zap zoom etc. It was a proud moment for the parents to see their little Bloomerz stand on the victory stand and receive token of appreciation from our honourable Chancellor, Dr Prashant Bhalla Executive Director, Ms Deepika Bhalla and the Principal, Ms.Mamta Wadhwa. Parents enjoyed rolling the tyres and participating in cycle race. It took them down memory lane and reminded them of their childhood days. ‘Masala Bhangra’ was also presented by the mommies.

anav Rachna Educational Institutions and Algonquin College, Ottawa, Canada signed a Letter of Intent and agreed to submit a proposal to be a training Center of Excellence in the automotive and construction sectors following a MoU signed between Algonquin College and the Nationals Skills Development Corporation of India President Cheryl Jensen of Algonquin College, Canada, signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Nationals Skills Development Corporation of India on Parliament Hill as witnessed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada.

Carrying forward the mantle of excellence, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) and Algonquin College, Ottawa, Canada, signed a Letter of Intent and agreed to submit a proposal to be a training Centre of Excellence in the automotive and construction sectors. This follows in the light of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Algonquin College and the

Nationals Skills Development Corporation of India.

India has set a national target to “skill” 500 million people in India, across a vari-

ety of sectors, by 2022. The National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) of India has been tasked to meet 30 per cent of that target, meaning that they seek to produce 150 million skilled workers in the next 7 years. NSDC’s primary goal is to foster private sector and industry participation in skill training and development.

In support of this training goal, Algonquin College and Manav Rachna Education Institutions (MREI) have agreed to submit a proposal to be a training Centre of Excellence in the automotive and construction sectors. Located at MREI’s campus in Faridabad near New Delhi, the Centre will focus on curriculum development and “Training the Trainers” with the major goal of up-skilling teachers and faculty from colleges and institutes across India, who will then begin to deliver short-term training courses for developing skilled workers.

On April 13th and 14th, 2015, Algonquin College hosted Dr Sanjay Srivastava, Managing Director of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions and Vice Chancellor – Manav Rachna University.

Manav Rachna is a long standing partner of Algonquin College in India, and currently delivers Algonquin’s Interior Designing program at their campus in Faridabad, India.

hile the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) night was the high point of the Fest Resurrection 2K 15, held at the Manav Rachna International University, there were a host of events which made the youth spoilt for choice. The Fest had cultural events, technical events, literary events and health care events which made the youth from the Delhi and NCR participate in huge numbers.

Whether it was students from college or or students went back happy and elevated to have been with their colleagues from across the city where they could show off their talents and mingle under a stress free platform.

The fervor reached its climax on April 16th , 2015 when the youth were mesmerized with the power packed performance by the band which plays at the world famous festival called Tommorowland which featured artists from Mega Man of Belgium origin. A packed audience of more than 15,000 students danced non-stop to the exhilarating music of today. “There was nothing which was missed out,” said the youth in unison. “Whether it was the graphics or the deafening sounds of music – we loved it all,” said Rupanshu from NGF college.

The VJ Nikhil Chinapa, added to the ‘madness’ of the evening of the EDM night.The youth danced, “as though there was to be no tomorrow,” said one of the students from the NCR region who had come with his group of friends. Nikhil wrote on his Facebook page “Cant go wrong with 10,000 students dancing their hearts out all the way up the hill! Thank you Manav Rachna Educational Institutes.” And truly the Management of Manav Rachna must be thanked for all the support they lent to see that the event was a grand grand success. Dr Prashant Bhalla commenting on the fest said, “ This mega event put together by our youth is all about their energy verve and enthusiasm. It is thanks to their great team work and organizational skills that we have among us stalwarts like Mega Men and Nikhil Chinapa performing live on stage. imad Khan, is a student of grade 6. This young lad admits that he never knew about his talent in sports until he joined MRIS, Noida. He attributes his love for sports to Mr Lovkesh Magu, Executive Director, MRIS, Noida to be his role model. “It is the encouragement and support which I received from Sir, that made me even think of considering sports as my strong point,” says Eimad According to him his Initial participation in the school’s sports events lacked the desired competitive spirit and vigour, however sir’s inspiring words about how his own achievements in sports helped him in personality development and in his career, motivated him and pushed him to participate in sports with one motto: to give his best and win.

Eimad has made the school proud by winning accolades and awards in various sports competitions. He won a silver medal in Open District Taekwondo championship, in 2013, silver medal in 3rd inter MRIS T.T championship in 2014, bronze medal in inter school badminton championship, held in 2014, gold medal in obstacle race as well as hoop moves race in the ‘Fitness Fiesta’ held in 2014, gold medal in shot-put and a silver medal in the 100 m race in the ‘Sportathon’, held in 2015.

His extraordinary acumen in sports earned him the title of the school’s sports captain.

During the torch lighting ceremony on the Annual Sports Meet ‘Sportathon’ , he was given the honour of holding the torch signifying the true spirit of sportsmanship.

Eimad’s sports teachers and coaches discovered his outstanding potential in Karate, which has been the focal point of his sports training for the past one year. He has won a silver medal in 7th district (Noida) karate championship held in 2014, silver medal in 12th UP state level karate championship held in 2014 and a silver medal in all India karate championship organized in Darjeeling, in 2014.

Eimad’s aim in life is to become a forest officer so that he can work for the betterment of the animals, however he maintains that sports has helped him grow more confident, responsible and disciplined individual, he firmly believes that sports will always remain an integral part of his life and will help him realize his dreams.

The opening ceremony showcased the march past of different houses carrying their house flags and ‘Sportathon’ banner. This was followed by the pledge taking by the students and torch lighting ceremony by respected Ms. SatyaBhallaji. After a brief welcome speech, respected Principal, Ms Sunanda Grover, presented the distinguished guests with a small token of appreciation. The Chief Guest was then requested to say a few words of encouragement and declare the ‘Annual Sports Meet’ open. In the background there was a flutter of pigeon flocks flying and balloons drifting in the air symbolizing the vibrant hopes and enthusiasm of the students.

Speaking on the occasion Mrs Satya Bhalla said, “We will always carry the dream and vision of Dr O P Bhalla who firmly believed that sports was an integral part of over all student grooming.” She also expressed her appreciation on the ‘theme’ based games which were played and performed during the day. Although sports meet is an inter-house competition, it actually brings the four houses more closely together.

Seeing students from the Tiger, Leopard, Jaguar and Panther houses practicing running together and cheering each other on, we realized that sports day is actually a virtuous competition. In addition to getting the medals, the friendships formed between students and the sense of belonging they felt towards their houses and their school, were the extra rewards we got from our annual sports meet.

Republic Day Celebrations @ MRIS, Noida

epublic Day celebration at MRIS, Noida was commemorated with a special assembly. Principal, Mr Sunanda Grover hoisted the National flag and gave an inspirational speech, telling the students about the significance of Republic Day and conveying the significance of its celebration for every Indian citizen.

Our students were educated that the Republic Day honors the date on which the constitution of India came into force, completing the country’s transition towards becoming an independent Republic.

26thJanuary was selected for this purpose because it was this day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress.

Performances of melodious patriotic songs by the students took everyone back to the bygone era when our freedom fighters visualized a dream of independent and prosperous India and struggled hard to achieve it. Students also presented scintillating dance performances paying the tribute to our motherland, their enthusiasm and energy was applauded by all. The day ended with a devotional rendition of National Anthem by everyone.

A Tribute to the spirit of Patriotism Students gave remarkable vocal performances to honour the martyrs and salute their spirit of patriotism. The song ‘AE MERE VATAN KE LOGON’ touched all present in the assembly.The Principal addressed the students, telling them about the great sacrifice of the freedom fighters .

The children recollected the sacrifice of the freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi who led our country to freedom advocating and inspiring the entire nation to follow the path of truth, honesty and non- violence. Lala Lajpat Rai, the “Lion

of Panjab”, a leader in the Indian fight for freedom from the British Raj. The sacrifice by the queen of the Maratha-ruled princely state of Jhansi – Rani Laxmibai and of those who gave their lives in the rebellion of 1857, of which she was a leading figure was recollected.The day ended with the observance of two minute silence in the honour of the revered martyrs.

An exhilarating musical performance was presented by adorable Kindergarten students and finally, the students were conferred with Citations and Report Cards. “Graduation is the time of completion or finishing! ‘Meet Your Super Heroes’, an exciting event for babies and parents’

Celebrating Maha Shivratri Maha Shivratri, the festival celebrated in reverence of the Lord Shiva, was commemorated at MRIS, Noida with a special assembly. Students gave scintillating dance and singing performances depicting Lord Shiva’s marriage to the goddess Parvati and conveying the festival as ‘The Great Night of Shiva’, marking the convergence of Shiva and Shakti.

The delightful narration of the legends signifying the day as the favorite of Lord Shiva, and throwing light on his greatness, left the audience spellbound.

n an endeavor to create awareness amongst the parents about the issues concerning proper upbringing and development of children, MRIS, Noida organized an exhilarating fun filled bonanza of competitions and workshops on Saturday, 21st February, 2015 .There were exciting prizes to be won.The baby show competitions were divided into different categories (0-1, 1-2,2-3, 3-4 years.)

It was a baby show with a difference. The participating kids were evaluated not only on their cuteness quotient but also on health and activeness and the judges were doctors. What took many parents by surprise was that even they were quizzed and evaluated, a lot of activities were planned for them.

More than 100 children dressed in their best turned up at the school. The immaculately turned out little ones put their best foot forward at the event, much to the delight of parents and teachers. The clear, sunny morning was rendered even more cheerful with the children buzzing around playing indoor and outdoor games and having a great time and learning through well planned activities like story telling, magic painting, Fireball painting, jewelry making ,clay modeling, art & craft and sand play .

Innovative and creative Paragon activities of Grade 1 and KG students were displayed, giving

the parents a delightful insight of the creativity of little children much like their own.

The sight of mothers walking the ramp with their children was heartwarming. Tiny tots from various sectors ramp walked up and down the stage wearing pretty clothes and giving a glimpse of their talent. The judges evalu-

ated them as ‘healthy baby’, ‘photogenic baby’, ‘chubby cheeks’, ‘curly hair’ and ‘most twinkling eyes’. Apart from observing the kids, the team of doctors provided free health checkups to the children and also addressed parents’ queries and concerns related to their immunization, feeding, weight, growth and development.

aragon learning is fun and each unit learnt something new and different – all in a funfilled manner.

Students of MRIS Noida celebrated their journey of learning about “REVOLUTION & INDEPENDENCE” in Unit – 6 of Paragon with fervent and joy. KG students explored that art is categorized into four types — dance, music, theater, and visual art. They learnt about people of Bali and compared the families, homes and clothing to their own style of living.Their presentation of the themes “This and That” and “Solar Systems” left everyone enthralled.

Students of Grade – I presented various activities focusing on the essential question “How do dreamers lead the way?” They made interesting Sioux village 3 panel murals, wagon, animal skin painting, Davy Crockett hats. All the guests were delighted to see the art work exhibited in the class and appreciated them for their circle dance which they had choreographed themselves. They also presented the theme of “Changes” with great confidence and creativity.

Students of grade – II displayed their leanings about many tribes that live in the North West Pacific Coast-the Kwakiuti, Haida, Tlingit, Bella Coola, Makah, Quileute and Nootkah. They also created “crests”- the animal symbols that the North West Coast Indians use to decorate houses, tools, clothing, canoes, masks, totem poles, web about the animal beliefs, created their own story, made drums and choreographed a dance on their

own. They demonstrated great creativity and ingenuity while presenting the themes of “Action Verbs” and “Measurement”. Students of Grade – III presented the biographies of famous leaders, artists and innovators of the Western World. They have made different types of hats like: tricorn hat, biocorn hat and crown. They created a portrait of Phillis Wheatley and did Franklin’s Electricity Experiment too.They also delighted the audience with their remarkable presentations on the themes “Metamorphosis” and “Hindi Punctuations”.

Grade – IV students explored and presented how the United States came into being. They also demonstrated their learning related to the injustice of “taxation without representation,” and the declaration of independence, and the subsequent alliance with the weary Patriots in the Revolutionary War against the British. They presented various activities related to: Delegates’ attires, Political Cartoons, Independence puppets and even created their own historical newspaper —“The American Gazette”.

They also presented the themes of “Equivalent Fractions” and “Volcanoes” with great confidence and flair. Students of Grade – V presented the activities related to the themes of “Storming of Bastille”, “Napolean” and demonstrated great ingenuity while displaying various activities like making of wigs, collars, currency and hats.They also presented the themes of “Types of Triangles” and “Science Projects” with the great zest and zeal. All the viewers including our dear parents, guests and respected principal ma’am admired the students’ artwork,

The students expressed their views regarding the geography of Australia, US and Arctic environment and displayed silhouette of skyline, T-model bicycle, dog sleds, a historical newspaper with innumerable such creative activities.The song and dance performances mesmerized the spectators.

The vibrancy and zing added a great vivacity to the sparkling performances that enthralled the audience and captivated an unceasing applause.

An Exhilarating Paragon Fiesta “Life is a celebration of awakening of new beginnings and wonderful surprises that enlighten the soul.”

Paulo Coelho MRIS Noida unfolded yet another vibrant extravaganza in the Unit 8 Paragon celebration held on 5thMarch 2015 that nurtured the innate talents and skills of our vivacious students. The day witnessed outstanding performances and showcased a spectacular show that exhibited the theme “The Life of the people in the 21st century”. The students explored how people live in modern world and identified their own country and neighboring countries on a world map and learnt about homes in modern cities and made models of rooms of a house.

They gained knowledge about the lives of the people in cities, sub-urban areas and the urban areas.

Students created leaves specimen, “hands around the world display, built homes, poster on diverse animals around the world and a fun collage displaying images in rural and urban setting.The Students designed a newspaper, made posters, collage on famous personalities conducted interviews and wrote articles They made a timeline of major events of their life.

Music and dance enthralled the audience with soulful rendition. Overall the event infused a fresh breath that unveiled the array of talents. The spirit and essence of the occasion captured and received much appreciation from all. The Paragon journey will continue to spread its wings far and wide in all areas of exploration in the years to come.

Sports Achievers from MRIS 51, Gurgaon Priya Chauhan of Grade-6 has been actively participating in sports for the past 3 years. She has brought laurels to the school by winning Gold and Silver medals in various swimming competitions in the NCR, Inter MRIS 3rd and 4th Open Championship under the categories – Back Stroke, Free Style and Vrest Stroke. She has shown an excellent performance in Inter MRIS Taekwondo Championship and Inter school Skating Championship at Scottish High and won Bronze medal.We congratulate her on her success Ragini Chaudhari of grade-6 is yet another sports enthusiast from MRIS 51, Gurgaon She is involved in various sports activities and excelling through hardwork and dedication. She won Silver medals in NCR and Inter MRIS Table Tennis Championship. She is an expert skater winning 2nd position in Sri Ram Public School.

She also took part in various Inter School Basket Ball Championships held at MRIS, G.D Goenka and won Silver medals. She took part in Inter MRIS Gymnastic and Taekwondo Championship and won 2nd position.

She is surely an asset for the institution.

5th Rollers Skating Beginners’ Meet Manav Rachna-51, Gurgaon took pride in organizing ‘5TH ROLLER SKATING BEGINNERS’ MEET. The event began with lighting of the lamp on February 14, 2015. Mrs Pooja Puri, vice Principal encouraged all the participants and motivated them to play with a sportsman spirit.

She welcomed all the esteemed guests, parents and also addressed the gathering in which she stressed the objective of organizing such an event was to groom the all-round personality of the students. Later, she declared the meet open.

Schools from all over Gurgaon participated in the competition. The students of primary section participated in different events.The competition was held in the categories of adjustable skates. In this event, more than 125 participants participated. MRIS-51, Gurgaon won the overall championship but handed over the trophy to Presidium School.

Orientation Programme for parents An orientation Programme was organized for the parents from the playgroup to Grade –VI on, March 7, 2015 before the commencement of the academic session 2015-2016 in the school premises.

The session started with a warm welcome followed by the Diya lighting by Vice Principal, Mrs Pooja Puri. She apprised the parents about rules and regulations of the school. She emphasized that parents need to be the role models and practice rigorously what they preach since they are being constantly watched upon by their wards. She also insisted upon the fact that parents would spend some quality time with their children in order to see them grow into healthy individuals.

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Deepika Chaudhary provided the parents with an Insight on school curriculum and made sure that the school will provide the best environment and exposure to children in Academics, Co- Curricular activities and Sports and also emphasized that the parents have to take a “shared responsibility” with the school for the overall growth of children. She highlighted the

importance of the role of the parents in inculcating sound ethics and values in the children.

The Academic Excellence Team highlighted about the learning centres, phonics education etc. The Early Years Co-ordinator, Ms Tripti Sharma, briefed on the Evaluation system, Birthday Policy to be followed throughout the year.

The Primary Co-ordinator, Ms Deepti Arora presented the School Evaluation System. She mentioned in conformity with the new evaluation scheme suggested by the CBSE and in order to provide stress free environment to the students in the primary section of the school, we have no formal examination system in Grade I-III and in Grade 4-6, the school follows the proper CBSE pattern of evaluation.

At the end, the school counselor gave some healthy parenting tips which made the session quite interactive. It was a successful session, parents were very happy to learn about the policies, evaluation system, IPC and Paragon curriculum. They were all looking forward for April 2, 2015 and April 6, 2015.

Aeroplanet visit A fun filled trip was organised by MRIS 51, Gurgaon for the students of grade I and II to the Aero Planet at Dwarka, New Delhi. It was a great learning experience for the students as they got to see the airbus A-300 (airplane) which has been positioned by Aero Planet in collaboration with Centre of Civil Aviation training.

They also underwent a flight safety training and learnt about using safety belts, life safety jackets, oxygen masks etc. Students of MRIS 51 felt lucky as they got the rarest opportunity to see the cockpit and cargo compartment.

Other activities like watching puppet show, dance, games etc also caught the attention of students. Over all it was an enjoyable day for the students and a trip to remember forever.

he father of Manav Rachna, visionary late Dr O P Bhalla, had a dream of educating every child possible. Not only did he aim at academic excellence in the Manav Rachna Educational Institutions, his focus was on ‘Manav ki Rachna’ in every sense of the word. Corporate Social Responsibility was an area that he worked at conscientiously. We feel his presence all around us and are sure that he is guiding and blessing us in all our endevors.

Under the able guidance of our Chief Patron, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions, Mrs. Satya Bhalla, we have taken it upon ourselves to take his dream forward. Dr O P Bhalla Foundation is working diligently in this direction.

Under the aegis of Dr O P Bhalla foundation, we, at Manav Rachna International School 21C Faridabad, have started another initiative to give back to society in our small way. The educators of MRIS 21C are utilizing the session break time to see that the helping-hands (house-keeping staff) of the school are being exposed to literacy, as the saying goes ‘charity begins at home’. As suggested by the honourable Mrs Satya Bhalla, we have started this campaign with our students also.

They will be teaching their neighbourhood children, maids and their children, during the session break time and continue the practice during summer vacation. They have been instructed to bring back report and related pics to encourage and motivate their peers. This activity is being taken up very enthusiastically by the teachers and the taught.

Visit to the Post Office Excursions are means of educating students on how certain things work and how we rely on certain services. Our students of Nursery class had a wonderful visit to the Post office on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. The Pre-Primaries began their exploration at the Sector-56 -57 Post-office. Students were introduced to the Postman as a helper under their ongoing theme ‘Let’s Pretend’. The children and teachers were welcomed warmly by the staff at the Post- office. They were taken around to see how letters are collected, segregated, stamped and then stored in pigeon holes for the postmen to collect. It was altogether a great learning experience especially in these times of email & fax. Visiting a post-office was something out-of-the-ordinary for the children although “post” is an ancient form of communication!

The students had a glance of the various counters catering to the public, namely those selling stamps, envelopes, postcards etc. Later the children posted letters to their parents that they had prepared in class. It was delightful to see the excitement on the children’s faces as they were posted their envelopes in the post box. Children were very happy to meet and shake hands with the postman and they appreciated him with applauds. We shared in the thrill and the education of this class trip which is likely to get a miss in the modern and fast age that we live in.

Coffee Morning for Grade-I @ MRIS-21C The parents of one section of grade-I were invited to the school for coffee morning wherein all the parents were made aware of the transition process of their ward from K.G. to Grade –I. All the subject teachers and the class In- charge spoke to the parents regarding the school time increase, change in writing patterns, different subject in charges taking care of different subject, assessment, co- curricular activities to name a few. There was an interactive session where in parents were given an opportunity to put their queries to rest.

Farewell to Grade V @ MRIS-21C Students of grade IV and teachers of grade V had arranged for a beautiful presentation to bid adieu to Grade V students who are either shifting to MRIS CW or MRIS 14 to continue their middle and senior school studies. Students of grade IV presented an interesting drama and gracious dance performance. The teachers also presented beautiful and interesting dances for all the students who are leaving MRIS 21C and moving forward in life.

The center- in-charges of grade V also spoke about their emotions and impression about their students and gave them interesting titles and mug which had picture of MRIS 21C as remembrance. The Head girl Saanvi gave vote of thanks to all the mentors & head boy Shuarya gave a solo performance of singing as the thanks giving gesture for the mentors.

WINNER @ ‘Faridabad talent hunt Navya Arora of Grade-V has brought laurels by winning Faridabad Talent Hunt 2015 organized by The Asian Institute of Medical Sciences. She had performed dance there for which she was awarded first prize and cash `5000. After the event the face book updates got maximum likes 474. e at MRIS-51, Gurgaon believe in the above thought, today, January , 15, 2015 was a big day as the children were made aware about all the safety rules to be followed on road by the Traffic Inspecter Ms Sushila and “Traffic Tau”, a man dressed in white dhoti, blue jacket, red turban and carrying a lathi (cane). The new mascot of the traffic police here in MRIS-51, Gurgaon delivered the message on road safety in the local Haryanvi dialect and educated our children about traffic rules. Mr Abhinav, the Road Safety Inspector also visited the school premises who enlightened them about the Road Safety week which Gurgaon Traffic Police celebrated throughout January. MRIS 51, Gurgaon took the initiative to call the Traffic Inspector and Traffic Tau in the school premises to give first hand information about the traffic rules. An Interactive session was held where students of Grade 4-6 asked various questions related to road safety and were spell bound with the traffic tau delivering the rules for the same.

Another highlighting feature for all the

students of MRIS-51, Gurgaon was-they got a chance to meet one of the tallest men of India Mr Rajesh Kumar (7ft 4”) (Traffic Police) in the school premises. They were all very excited to meet him and shook hands, and took his autograph. The inquisitiveness and eagerness was worth appreciating and could be seen as children were asking various questions. SPACE Explorers Workshop A workshop “Cast your own planet” and “Astronauts – Can you be one of them” was conducted in Manav Rachna International School, Gurgaon for students of grade I to VI. 69 Students attended this workshop. The duration of the workshop was 90 minutes. In this amazing multimedia workshop, students made their own planet by using Plaster of Paris and colors. This made them understand various facts about it like its size, shape, distance etc. Other than this they also learnt new information about the different colors of Saturn, Mercury

etc. They played various games and got to know various careers in astronomy. Some students got an opportunity to wear a spacesuit also.

Grade-2’D Assembly on Bullying Children should be able to live a life free from bullying and harassment- with this thought students of 2’D of MRIS-51, Gurgaon took the initiative to present the assembly as well in which students encouraged all the students by telling them not to accept any kind of bullying. They reinforced the message that ‘Never be bullied into silence, Never allow yourself to be made a victim, Accept no one’s definition of your life, but define yourself.’The assembly began with Gayatri mantra followed by thought of the day and news reading.

Doha singing motivated the students to understand the true meaning of growing up. Students recited a poem which was depicting the emotions of victim of bullying .The show continued with a talk by the school’s counsellor which motivated the children .The Vice Principal, Mrs Pooja Puri appreciated the effort taken by the students and declared to observe the current week as a ‘No complaining Week’

Strength is within was put by the students of Grade K.G and Grade I. In today’s world, we’re faced with overwhelming challenges. We often feel stuck and don’t even know where to start. But we can all tap into the unbelievable strength we have within to “get going” and make a huge difference in our lives and the lives of others.

All we need to do is refocus on our strength.

This musical took the audience to the world where they witnessed the story which was a powerful metaphor designed to bring out the strength lying and unnoticed within.

The musical ‘PANCHTATVA – Celebrated the 5 Elements of Nature’ creatively depicted the beauty and glory of the elements of nature.

Panchtatva means “the five great elements of nature - Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Sky”. The students represented the combination of these five elements together to create a balance in Nature,

which ultimately helps in the creation and sustenance of life. This Musical presentation aimed at making our children realise the need to change our ways, close the entrance of destruction and extinction, and move on the constructive path, keeping the elements clean for growth, health and happiness.

“Dashavtaar” depicted the Ten Avtaars of Lord Vishnu — Vishnu (THE GOD OF GODS), the protector, preserver and patron of this life. It was an odyssey through time, showing the values of the old world matching the sensibilities of the modern one.

The concept of Dashavatar (Ten Avatars) has tremendous significance even in today’s jet age.

Evil has been present at all stages in the evolution of mankind and the Dashavatar in a way brings out this evolution through the triumph of good over evil. The musical depicted together the fascinating stories of Rama, Krishna, Parshurama, Vamana, Narsimha, (sundari one who is in focus at the time of samudramanthan and help to god in getting amrit)...and the tales of Vishnu in earlier avatars – Matsya, Kurma,Varaha and Buddha..and — Kalki Avatar. KALKI- Every ERA has a hero and for this era Kalki is yet to manifest.....

Farm visits provide a perfect opportunity for students to use all of their senses to learn: the more they can touch, smell, and taste the things they are learning about, the more deeply they will understand and remember what they learn. Keeping in view the above, MRIS 51 arranged a farm visit for KG students on 18th February 2015. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were excited to experience the various aspects of farm life, e.g. plant a sapling, harvesting produce, weeding, turning compost, digging etc. The students also saw various fruits and vegetables being grown at the farm along with all the farm equipments. Toddlers of MRIS 51, Gurgaon were taken to leisure Valley Park to deepen their understanding of their own experiences and environment.
