Hello from the International Students Officer Welcome to Manchester! We’re very proud to be part of a city full of different people from all over the world with amazing stories. We hope you love your time here. This Programme is filled with fun events and socials to help you get to know Manchester and the University of Manchester. The Students’ Union is a place you can come to for anything, for advice, for food, to relax or be with friends. We are a place for everyone, so welcome. Jake Butler

Welcome Mixer An event for all the new arrivals to welcome them to Manchester. Held in the SU ground floor with food huts and pop up stalls. Explore the Lake District Take a trip to visit the beautiful Lake District Area in Northern England.

Lake Windermere (with Aquarium) A wonderful day out where you will see the picturesque Lake District from all angles ... by rail, on the water and from the shore side! Keswick Keswick is a pretty market town in North Cumbria with lots to do whether it be a boat ride on the Derwent Water or exploring the town’s many shops and museums. Sunday 1st September / 8.30am - 8pm / £20

Days Out Further Afield Explore what the United Kingdom has to offer with these trips.

Scarborough Scarborough is a typical British seaside resort on the East Coast of England. It is a great place to soak up the holiday atmosphere and see a British Holiday resort at its best. Sunday 7th July / 8.30am - 7.30pm / £20

Oxford Oxford is world famous for being a great University City. You will have the entire day here to spend at your leisure... either visiting the many University colleges or some of the city’s interesting museums, Art Galleries and historic buildings. Alton Towers Alton Towers is Britain’s most popular Theme Park. There are over 100 rides to go on as well as some beautiful gardens to explore. Saturday 20th July / 8.30am - 6pm / £45

Whitby The full day will be spent in the picturesque ancient fishing port of Whitby, set on the North Sea! It is considered to be one of the most interesting and attractive seaside towns on the East coast. Sunday 28th July & Saturday 31st August / 8.30am - 8pm / £20

Sherwood Forest Follow in the footsteps of the legendary Robin Hood! Sherwood Forest is also home to 900 veteran oak trees including England’s Tree of the Year 2014, The Major Oak. Saturday 3rd August / 8.30am - 7.30pm / £20

Stratford Upon Avon Stratford is most famous for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare. You will have the chance to visit three of the Shakespeare properties while you are there and also have free time to explore the picturesque town. Harry Potter World Enter the magical world of Harry Potter, everyone’s favorite boy wizard, on this day trip to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter. Exploring Wales Check out Wales with these great trips.

Snowdonia North Wales is a beautiful area of contrasting landscapes. On this particular trip you will pass through the Snowdonia area with fantastic scenery aboard the famous Blaenau Ffestiniog Railway to Porthmadog. You will have time here for lunch before we move on to Black Rock sand beach, a popular beach on the Llyn peninsula. Saturday 20th July / 8.30am - 8pm / ÂŁ40

North Wales The first stop of the day will be Llanberis to board the Snowdon Mountain Railway where you will scale the highest mountain in Wales which boasts dramatic landscape and scenery. Sunday 11th August / 8am - 7.30pm / £24 [includes return ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway and a visit to Swallow

Conwy Castle The first stop of the day is Conwy Castle, a World Heritage site and an outstanding example of medieval military architecture. Saturday 24th August / 8am - 7.30pm / £25 Members [includes entrance to Conwy Castle]

Trips to the North Join us as we head north and discover the sights of Northern England.

York York is an attractive historic city in Yorkshire. You will have the entire day to spend at your leisure exploring the city at your own pace taking in the medieval Shambles, the York Minster and perhaps learning something about the city’s Viking history. Yorkshire Dales The Yorkshire Dales is an area of beautiful countryside. You’ll visit, spectacular waterfalls and the impresive White Scar caves. Sunday 14th July / 8.30am - 7.30pm / £30 [includes entrance tickets for tour of caves and waterfalls walk]
