Discover Manchester… Once you are in Manchester there is so much to do and see. Take at least three days to explore what the city has to offer for an unforgettable weekend.
Friday After checking into your hotel, head over to the stunning brand new Visitor Information Centre in Piccadilly Gardens to discover what’s on in the city and where to go. You can also book a guided walking tour with a Blue or Green Badge Guide to find out more about the city from the stories of a local accredited expert. Admire the magnificent neo-gothic Town Hall, Manchester Cathedral and the medieval, purpose-built John Rylands Library. Marvel at one of the country's finest art collections in spectacular Victorian and contemporary surroundings. Manchester Art Gallery is home to outstanding pre-Raphaelite paintings, craft and design and early 20th century British art.
The Northern Quarter, Manchester’s creative and bohemian heart, with independent fashion stores, record shops and cafes is an ideal place for dining. There, you’ll find Simple Bar & Restaurant, which offers a laid back atmosphere for eating, drinking and meeting friends. If you still have energy to enjoy Manchester’s nightlife, head to the Gay Village or to Deansgate Locks, where you will find a wide range of nightclubs and bars.

Saturday
Sunday
AM - After breakfast spend the morning shopping in different districts of the city. If you’re looking for high-end, exclusive labels, head to King Street or The Avenue, in Spinningfields, the city’s new financial district where retailers showcase the best international fashion collections in the North West from Flannels, DKNY, Armani, Mulberry, Brooks Brothers and many more. Market Street and Manchester Arndale also offer an abundance of well-known high street brands.
AM - Start the day with a visit to the new National Football Museum (opening in Autumn) where you can admire football artefacts such as the 1966 World Cup Final ball or Maradona’s ‘hand of God’ shirt. Savour a typical Irish lunch at Waxy O’Connors before visiting Old Trafford or The City of Manchester Stadium (Eastlands), venues of Manchester United and Manchester City where their matches and stadium tours let you experience how passionate Manchester is about football.
The new Revolution Manchester gallery at MOSI (the Museum of Science and Industry) introduces the story of Manchester, the world’s first industrial city, with a groundbreaking design and technology that takes the museum experience into the digital age.
PM - Whether you fancy an activity packed afternoon with friends, exploring idyllic woodland tracks, a relaxing lunch or a gentle stroll around one of the bustling farmers markets, you’ll be spoilt for choice across Manchester’s Countryside. You can also visit some of the boroughs of Greater Manchester, like Bury home to the East Lancashire Railway or the Fusilier Museum, where you will find the collection of the XX Lancashire Fusiliers and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, commemorating over 300 years of history and heritage. Alternatively The Rock shopping centre in Bury hosts a great variety of retailers, restaurant and entertainment.
PM - Spend your afternoon at the Trafford Quays Leisure Village, home to The Trafford Centre, one of the UK’s largest shopping malls. Amazing attractions such as Airkix, Chill Factore or Aerial Extreme, one of the world’s most awesome high rope adventure courses, can be found here. Returning to the city centre for dinner you can choose from the great diversity of cuisines available: from the Asian flavours at Zaika Indian Restaurant to the Italian appeal of Stock Restaurant or modern British at the Restaurant Bar & Grill. Saturday evenings are the perfect moment to go to one of the theatres in town, such as the Royal Exchange Theatre, Palace Theatre or Opera House or if you prefer live music check out places such as Band on the Wall or Matt & Phreds.
Staying longer than 3 days? Why not visit: • Hatworks, Stockport • People’s History Museum • Manchester Museum • Whitworth Art Gallery • Manchester Craft and Design Centre
