Free entry EXHIBITIONS Breed: The British & their Dogs Until 14 Apr 2013 The history of the British Isles and its inhabitants, both human and canine, has long been entwined. Breed will reveal the enduring and affectionate relationship between the British people and their dogs. #MMDogs All Other Things Being Equal Until 2 Jun 2013 Trees in the Ecuadorian Amazon play a crucial role in the ecosystem but, due to economic necessity, are also valued for their timber. Photos by Johan Oldekop explore this complex dilemma. #MMRainforest Looping and Linking 10 Feb-26 May 2013 A soundscape and installation of weaved local grasses inspired by our herbarium collections and the grass-weaving work of Scottish crofter and ‘outsider artist’ Angus McPhee. Touching a 200 million year old fossil or objects from ancient cultures; stroking a hedgehog; meeting scientists working on the latest research; making your own treasures; performances and films; storytelling and tours. Women in science, now & then Fri 8 Mar: To celebrate International Women’s Day, a panel discussion with three leading female researchers from Manchester’s Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell-Matrix Research.
