‘Open Door, Explore’ Self-Programmed Wednesdays at The Manchester Museum Manchester Gallery: What’s your Manchester? KS2

The following tasks are set up to enable your class to explore the Manchester gallery in an interactive, thought provoking and exciting way. Our Manchester gallery is on the first floor. It may help before your visit to split your class into 5 groups and bring along paper, pencils and something to lean on. We recommend that you bring along with you pencils and paper for each group to have a go at the activities below. Have fun exploring the Manchester gallery. My Manchester, Postcards from Me to You: What would you say about Manchester to people that have never visited before? Can you design a postcard that shows your highlights of living in and around Manchester? Where are your favourite places to visit? What do you think of the Manchester Weather? Where do you and your friends like to go? What can you do for hobbies in Manchester? What are the best types of food to eat in Manchester? What are the famous landmarks or events in Manchester’s history? Who would you send your postcard to? Don’t forget to send The Manchester Museum a copy and tell us all about what you have done today! Manchester Motif: Can you design a logo for Manchester that sums up all the things that Manchester Represents? Where would you put your logo? Who might like to use the logo and why? Capturing Manchester: What would you put in a time capsule for future generations to learn about Manchester? In groups can you think of pictures/objects to put inside a time Capsule for one of the following themes: Arts, Entertainment and Leisure Manchester Trends; Fashion focus Education Working Lives The Family Feedback your thoughts to your group. Do you agree with others? Is there anything missing?
