unique grade 2* listed building built in 1885, Manchester Museum can offer you something completely different. The 4.5 million items in our collection including dinosaurs, mummies and live animals, a range of distinctive rooms and galleries for ceremonies, receptions and photography, and our friendly and helpful staff can help you create the wedding or party you want. Located close to the city centre and at the heart of The University of Manchester campus, Manchester Museum is easily accessible by public transport and has lots of hotels nearby. We work with our on-site caterers who are committed to delivering an exceptional level of fine dining using local, fair trade and seasonal produce. However, if you have other ideas we are always happy to hear about them.

The Fossils gallery takes you on a tour of life on Earth over the last 3,500 million years, and as well as Stan the T.rex, is home to many other pre-historic objects including Percy the Plesiosaur, mammoth teeth from the last Ice Age and a massive 300 million year old tree stump fossil.

ur newly re-developed Living Worlds gallery can hold either your wedding breakfast or drinks reception.
Redeveloped in 2011, our Living Worlds gallery is home to a huge variety of stuffed animals (including a Sperm Whale skeleton, Polar Bear and Tiger), all beautifully displayed with the help of European art and fashion show producer, villa eugénie. The gallery explores the connections between all living things, including us, and shows how we can all shape the future by the choices we make.

This grade 2* listed building was originally designed by the architect Alfred Waterhouse (who also designed Manchester’s Town Hall and the Natural History Museum in London) and completed in 1885.

omplete your day by holding your evening reception in our Reception Hall, surrounded by objects such as our Giant Spider Crab, gold Buddha statue and a huge engraved granite column from an ancient Egyptian temple. We can extend into the Café too, meaning your guests can have exclusive use of the bar for the remainder of the day/evening.
