It has been a long winter, and spring, we are pretty sure, is just around the corner! To celebrate, Manchester Newspapers, publishers of the FreePress, is proud to bring you your all-new 2015 Cambridge Valley Community Guide. This edition is the culmination of a great deal of work on behalf of our staff, with the generous help of town, village and school officials. It is designed as a year-round informational resource that can be used by year-round residents and new residents to our community. Inside you will find a wide variety of information, from church schedules to information on service organizations, from a list of the chamber of commerce members to a thorough listing of all our public officials - and more! We are especially grateful to Sara Kelly of Sara Kelly Graphics & Design for providing us with the beautiful cover picture. And, also our thanks to the many businesses that participated in this edition. Their support has allowed us to bring this to you free of charge. We hope you will give those businesses your support throughout the year and that you find this edition a handy resource. John Manchester, Publisher

Balloon Festival

15th Annual Cambridge Valley Balloon Festival Returns June 5-7 One of Cambridge’s signature events, the 15th Annual Cambridge Valley Balloon Festival, will return Friday, June 5 through Sunday, June 7, 2015 in and around the historic village of Cambridge. As organizers of the event, the Cambridge Valley Chamber of Commerce puts together the schedule of festival activities, which will again include the launch of multiple hot air balloons. All launches take place at the Cambridge Central School on Route 22 (wind and weather permitting). Evening launches typically occur between 6:30-7:30 p.m.; morning launches are between 5:306:30 a.m. Between the launches, the Cambridge community throws out the red carpet and provides a myriad of activities to entertain the crowds. Community businesses, through the Chamber, host a fireworks display on Friday evening at the Cambridge Guest Home Park and on Saturday there

is a “Taste of Cambridge” event at the same location to showcase local food producers and restaurants. The “Taste” is followed by the annual Moon Glow, a spectacular night time display of tethered hot air balloons that are lit from inside in time to music. A pilot’s breakfast is held on Sunday morning. In the village, activities such as craft fairs, farmers’ markets, museum tours, concerts, a car show and gallery events will take place. The Chamber will distribute a detailed event guide and schedule of events in May. To get your organization’s event listed on the balloon festival’s official schedule, send the information in writing to P.O. Box 405, Cambridge, NY 12816 or email cambridgeballoon@ gmail.com before May 14. For more information on Cambridge, call the Chamber of Commerce call 518-677-0887, or visit www.cambridgenychamber.com.
