NYTPA The NYTPA event on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Saratoga County Fair features Super Stock Tractors and 2-Wheel Drive Trucks. The Two-Wheel Drive class is considered the funny cars of pulling. These wheel standers run with fiberglass S-10 Chevy bodies, Dodge Dakotas, Ford Super duties and 23 Ford T-buckets. You name it and they are running it. They are producing upwards of 2,500 horsepower, from after market engines such as a Keith Black Hemi and the Fontana Arias to more common BBF and BBC engines from Fords and Chevys. They are allowed up to 575 cubic inches and can use superchargers or turbos burning methanol for fuel. These machines all use slipper clutches with a gearbox. They have Rockwell rear ends with planetary gears. The Dick Cepeck tires can produce

Tractor pulling started many years ago with farmers looking for a friendly competition, socialization and most importantly bragging rights. As time has passed and many things in life have changed these desires have remained the same. We have gone from just stock farm tractors to a wide variety of pulling classes. We have antiques, enhanced antiques, farm stock and super farm stock
SUNDAY JULY 23 to name a few. Included in all of this now is the pulling of garden tractors, ATV’s and garden modified. The Garden tractor pull event will be on Sunday July 24 at 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

ANTIQUES & ANTIQUE MACHINERY Be sure to visit the displays in the Antiques building on Pavilion Path near Gate 5 You will remember many items on display from the homes of your parents, grandparents and friends, Perhaps you have some
undiscovered treasures in your own home. Last year, we were fortunate to have over 1200 items entered into over a thousand categories by residents of Saratoga County. There are household items, toys, tools,
jewelry and many others too numerous to list. Ribbons are awarded to many of the entries and four special ribbons for items the judges deemed as their favorite on display. Antique Machinery
is located near Gate 3, adjacent to the Conservation Department displays. There is a very interesting display of old time tools and machinery including a large variety of tractors, saws, engines and other items.

AXE WOMEN OF MAINE The Axe Women Loggers of Maine production is a selfcontained, turn-key event unlike any other lumberjack show in North America. No details have been spared in creating a show geared for a 21st century audience, with high quality visual production and stage elements, apparel and sound equipment. What makes Axe Women Loggers of Maine different from all the rest of the touring logging shows out there? It features more current world champion performers than any other show, including various event championships from
2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. There is no other touring logging show in North American of this caliber. Lumberjack shows have historically been a play off of one original show, one original script and unfortunately the original and outdated jokes that accompany it. This show has been entirely revamped with a script that not only emphasizes the nature and difficulty of the sport, but also focuses on its beginnings and historical significance. This

GAIL MIRABELLA & THE DYNAMO DOGS Through performances with her canine team, Gail Mirabella not only entertains but also shows audiences how a happy and healthy relationship with a dog starts from within, beginning with a proper diet and exercise. Gail supports the belief that with a little time, patience and positive training, anyone can create a special bond with their dog. Gail began competing in canine flying disc competitions in 1996. She began putting on Frisbee® Dog shows in 1997, with her first dog Austin. She is the first and only woman from the Northeast that has ever won a regional event or qualified at either the Alpo Canine Disc World Championship or the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge
Nationals. In 1999 and 2000, Gail was the only competitor in the United States to qualify for both the Alpo Canine Disc World Championship and the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge Nationals. In 2001 her peers voted her “Best Female Player of the Year.” In 2006-07, Gail and her dogs were featured in the one-ring Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus “Gold Unit” before being asked to move on to the larger “Blue Unit” for 2008-09. She also completed a tour (January-March 2010) with Cirquesa, a theatrical circus in the state of Florida, and was the featured act in June 2010 at the Medora Musical in North Dakota. Gail and her talented dogs have
appeared on Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Good Morning America, the Today Show and many other national and regional television shows. Gail and her canines were also featured in an issue of Ladies Home Journal in 2007. Gail’s knowledge of dogs goes beyond training them for canine sports and performing. She holds a B.S. degree in Animal Science and previously held the position of Veterinary Technician for 7 years.

MASTERS OF THE CHAINSAW In 1992, Masters of the Chainsaw was formed to provide professional representation for chainsaw carvers in the business of carving performance art. The original founders of Masters of the Chainsaw are Steve Blanchard of Monterey, California, and Brian Ruth of Hartsville, Pennsylvania. The two sculptors met at the Winter National Chainsaw Carving Competition in Tampa, Florida. Brian took a first place and Steve took a second place. Having similar views on the art of chainsaw
carving, a strong desire to have carvers represented correctly and need due to increasing demand for their skills two carvers made Masters of the Chainsaw official in November of 1992. Steve Blanchard would handle carvers on the West Coast and Brian would handle the East Coast. In 1995 due to increased demand at his full time studio and shop, Steve asked to be relieved of his duties to Masters of the Chainsaw and proprietorship went to Brian Ruth. Masters of the Chainsaw
main focus is the representation of only the finest professional chainsaw sculptors. The carvers they seek to represent are the very best performance chainsaw artists in the world, and their artistic ability and speed are not the only criteria they must meet to be one of Masters of the Chainsaw. They must be of the highest degree of professionalism and of a personable nature befitting their position.

Having farm and other animals available for interaction by our guests is what makes fairs different from amusement parks and festivals. Additionally we are requiring that, along with no smoking, all animal contact areas are “no eating” areas as well. The Fair, in cooperation with 4-H leaders, has established a Youth Ambassador group that will discuss proper handling of animals and stress proper hand washing after contact. They will have “walk around” hand washers who will offer a squirt of antibacterial lotion to fairgoers who wish to clean their hands. Gel stations are available in food areas as well as animal contact areas. This is just an extra method of assuring fair fun in the summer. Having a well-informed public is paramount to having a safe and happy time at the Saratoga County Fair.

AMUSEMENTS OF AMERICA Amusements of America, recognized throughout the industry as one of the nation’s premier carnival operators, will be presenting exciting rides at their carnival midway at the 176th Anniversary of the Saratoga County Fair! Lots of new and modern rides will be in action at the Fair, according to Amusements of America officials. Visitors to this year’s Fair will get to experience the thrills of other spectacular rides like the Music Express, Bonzai, and Wave Swinger. Also appearing will be the Mardi Gras Glass House, guaranteed to pleasantly frustrate all who choose to enter into its mirrored maze. A $20 hand stamp lets you on the rides all day.
SPECIAL DEAL ON RIDES! AMUSEMENTS OF AMERICA
RIDES FROM 12 NOON TO 12 MIDNIGHT DAILY! $20 HAND STAMP LETS YOU RIDE ALL DAY! (On Tuesday, set up day, rides may start later - be sure you check to see if your favorite ride is running before you purchase the hand stamp.)
Parents and children alike will love the complete Kiddieland, with plenty of modern, family-friendly attractions appealing to everyone. Carnival games appealing to all ages and skill levels will line the midway. A wide variety of fun foods like candy apples, sno-cones, and cotton candy, and long-time staples like corn dogs, funnel cakes, and sausage sandwiches will be in plentiful supply. Amusements of America is a 76-year-old, family owned and operated company. The company was founded with the purchase by Anthony Vivona of the Ferris Wheel from the just completed 1939 New York World’s Fair. His five sons soon became involved in the operation. Today, over 70 years later, the business is still operated by the five Vivona brothers, with several of their sons and nephews now assuming leadership roles in the family operation.

START TO STAR TALENT SHOW The 2017 Saratoga County Fair “Start to Star” Talent Show will be held from July 18 -23. Competitions will take place for individual, duet or group acts in the categories of music, dance, gymnastics, comedy, magic and storytelling. Winners from July 22 and 23 will advance to the State Fair Competition. These competitions are held in the new Trustco Talent Building and are co sponsored by 101.3 the Jockey and Saratoga Today. The daily winners in the
8 thru 12 and 13 & over categories are eligible to compete for “Best of the Fair” held on Sunday July 23rd at 4:30pm. There are three judges each day looking at a variety of criteria including stage presence. In addition there are four special prizes including vocalist of the week, “Shooting Star”, “Rising Star” and guitarist. “It is quite the amazing feat for young talent to show courage and confidence with a stage presence” stated Audrey Poitras, who has
“AMISH BUILT SHEDS AND MORE”
overseen this competition for nearly a quarter of a Century. This year Myla Kramer will be joining Audrey Poitras. Myla will be familiar to those in the talent show circle, as she has coordinated the Town of Clifton Park Winterfest for over a decade. Audrey reflected on two of her favorite past Talent Show moments; in one a young man with autism competed in the Talent Show, with his entire group home cheering him on in the audience. Another favorite was when a 13 year old girl named Anna
amazed her parents when they heard her sing for the first time. For some, talent shows are the start to a future career. Several Saratoga County Talent Show winners have followed their entertainment dreams, including young contestant Brittny Kissinger who, went on to play Annie on Broadway; and Justin Joyner, who has established himself as one of the premier musicians in the Capital District. SARATOGA COUNTY FAIR PRIVATE LABEL WINE & BEER New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo and Department of Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball have recognized the Craft Beer and Wine producers of NYS to be of the finest in the world. In support of their initiative to empower regional wineries and breweries, the Saratoga County Fair has contracted with two Saratoga County Wineries, and a Saratoga County Craft Beer brewer to offer the only private labeled “County Fair” wines and beer in New York State. Produced for us by Ledge Rock Hill Winery, The Saratoga County Fair “Green Apple Blanc” (a Crisp, crunchy green apple flavor with a light initial tartness and sweet finish) and “Black Beauty” (Pleasantly sweet and bursting with blackberry flavor) are both fruit infused white wines. New this year is the Saratoga County Fair Blue Ribbon semi-dry Riesling,
produced for us by the Saratoga Winery & Tasting Room. Featuring Pineapple aromas with mellowed peach and honey flavors, this wine is a natural with sea foods and salads. The Saratoga County Fair Judges Stand Ale returns this year and features medium body and pale color, with slight hop bitterness. Brewed only 7 miles away, this is the freshest beer you will taste this summer. These wines and beer are offered only by the glass in the lue ibbon Live Music Pavilion, and only during Fair iesling week. We hope you have the opportunity The to experience these Saratoga Winery products by three 2016 Finger Lakes fine Saratoga County Alc. 12% by vol. enterprises. 750 ml
