‘Patsy’ to perform in Fair Haven Don’t “Fall to Pieces” when you read this but Patsy Cline is coming to Fair Haven. Okay, don’t call us “Crazy” yet, it isn’t the real Patsy Cline, but Courtney Shayne, a Patsy Cline impersonator who’s close to the real thing. Her show, “Memories of Patsy: The Patsy Cline Tribute,” will take place on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Fair Haven American Legion Post 49 on South Main Street. The audience is taken back on a trip in time to “the days when this amazing singer graced the stages of America,” says the Courtney
Shayne website, capturing the essence of Patsy Cline in both voice and spirit. Shayne has toured the country, from California to New York City, with rave reviews. She has performed on stage for more than 18 years and is a native of New York’s Capital Region, where she lives with her husband and two young sons. She holds awards from both Schenectady Light Opera Company and Theater Association of New York State. Shayne said she got the motivation to bring Patsy Cline songs and story to audi-
ence by a lifelong affinity for her music, as well as “a nudge from my grandfather.” Patsy Cline’s best-known country classics include “Crazy”, “I Fall to Pieces,” “Walkin’ After Midnight” and many others. Cline died tragically in a plane crash in 1963 at the age of 30. The show will start at 7 p.m. on Saturday and tickets are $15. Advance tickets will be available at Post 49 after 1 p.m. on Saturday until they are sold out. For more information, visit courtneyshayne.com or call 802-265-7983.

In addition to the many attractions that the carnival boasts, there will be plenty of great food. Hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and peppers, fried clams, mozzarella sticks and fried dough are some of the many offerings. Wristbands for unlimited rides are still only $15. Tonight the fun kicks off at 6 p.m., with an earlier start time of 10 a.m. tomorrow. On Saturday the fun begins with a tractor pull, followed by a chicken barbecue at noon. Perhaps the most exciting event, the parade, will line up at 2:30 p.m. and start at 4 p.m. This year’s parade theme
is Small Town Country living and as soon as it ends the carnival will open. “We’ve got floats, the fire department, and bands,” said parade chairman Todd Fenton. There will be a bike giveaway for a boy and a girl, which requires no purchase to enter and is a can’t-miss event for the kids. Regarding the 80th anniversary of the carnival approaching, Fenton said “Next year is going to be big.” Anyone interested in joining the parade should contact Todd Fenton at 802-6459522.
the year. Since it began in 1997, the committee has raised $430,000. As well as looking at and purchasing art, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artist, listen to live music and enjoy some lunch. The event will be catered by Pawlet’s Helen Wood of Rupert Mountain Roost and she will be serving lunch right on Edie’s field. “I think this event supports so many aspects of the com-
munity, both for the artists who are getting their work out there, and for the students who are expanding their education,” said Glade. Admission is free but donations are appreciated. Edie’s Green is located in the center of Pawlet, on the edge of the Flower Brook. For more information, or to apply as a participating artist, check PawletScholarships.wordpress.com or visit Art on Edie’s Green on Facebook.

LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF SERVICE Lions Clubs worldwide have a 100 year birthday in 2017. They are celebrating this big event by asking clubs all over the world to participate in The Legacy Project. A club will make a donation to its community to show appreciation for its support. The project must be continuous; long lasting and something that will enhance the community. The Castleton Lions Club is building a second pavilion at Crystal Beach. The first was built in 1995. This project is expected to be completed within the next couple of weeks. The Lion members are paying for the construction and building the pavilion with the help from community members who have donated their services. Drive by and watch this amazing project take shape.
