Spud Run HARTFORD Lace up those running shoes because it’s time for the 32nd Annual Hartford Stewart’s Spud Run that will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Hartford Central School. Food & Farm Fest GLENS FALLS Get ready for some good food and fall fun on Sunday, Oct. 15 as the Glens Falls Food Co-Op and the Glens Falls Collaborative will be hosting its fourth annual Food and Farm Festival in the Glens Falls City Park. Haunted Barn FORT EDWARD The Haunted Barn at the Little Theater on the Farm hasn’t been around as long as some of the other haunted attractions in the area, but it has quickly become just as terrifying. Haunted Hayride WILTON Join Operation Adopt A Soldier for its 16th annual John Vincek Memorial Haunted Hayride at Gavin Park in Wilton, starting Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday Oct. 21 and continuing the following weekend on the 27 and 28 from 4-10 p.m. Little kid hayrides start a 4p.m. and adults start after dark. Free Concert GREENWICH Get ready for some toe tapping good times on Saturday, Oct. 21 because celebrated acoustic musicians John Kirk and Trish Miller of Quickstep will be playing at the Greenwich High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. These musicians will be exploring folk music—it’s originals, instruments, and local variations in the concert that they cleverly called “Fiddle Tunes, Funny Songs & Fancy Footwork.” Kirk and Miller have toured for more than t h r e e decades, playing fiddle music, folk s o n g s and performing fancy footwork for concerts, parties, and dances. The pair will be joined by Skidmore College students Amanda Muir, Rebecca Sohn and Reese Fulmer. These merry band will be harmonizing fiddles, driving banjo tunes and singing humorous songs that the whole audience will want to singalong too. Many of these tunes are rooted in the local lore of the northeast woodlands, so you’ll recognize what they’re singing about. This will surely be a fun show for all ages, so don’t miss out on the fun. This free concert is part of the Greenwich Free Library’s live music series, “Music is Living History”. The Greenwich High School Auditorium is located on 10 Grey Avenue in Greenwich. Some of the fabulous prizes that could be yours are: a Will Moses print entitled “Walden Pond in Winter”, custom framed by Peg Caron, a “Snowy Day” package including four, two-hour tubing passes to Willard Mountain, a $20 gift certificate to Silvano’s Italian Restaurant, movie and a snack basket, an “Outdoor Game” package to include handmade Corn Hole Boards, and a “Pamper Me” package to include a 30-mintue massage and essential oils from Massage by You and gift cards. Tickets for the raffle are $1 per ticket or $5 for six and are available for purchase prior to the festival from various PTA members. Other activities at the fall festival are featured crafters and vendors, games and activities for the kids, a bake sale, food and beverages, several raffles for adults and kids, entertainment, and many more. The Kiwanis Club will be selling refreshments and offering free vision screening. All of the proceeds from the Fall Festival will help the PTA host a family-oriented events and much more.
