~ Eye On Business ~ ARGYLE, NY Dan & Jim Ehrlich EHRLICH Owners BROTHERS WINERY Ehrlich Brothers Winery is located in an 1860 carriage house on the farm in Argyle. Dan and Jim Ehrlich have been making wine together for a long time. They began offering Ehrlich Brothers wines in 2015 with sole focus on serious development of Elderflower Bubbly sparkling wine, Elderberry Red full-bodied table wine, and in the future Elderberry Port-Style wine. Argyle is a dry town: there is no tasting room or retail sales space on the farm. Horticulture of the elderberry nurseries, development of the wines, and wholesale marketing to retail establishments are the focus of the work here. Well-performing specimens of American and also of European Elderberry are propagated and grown in nurseries in Argyle and Hebron. Growing and harvesting techniques are refined for the reliable production of the best and most desirable flavors. No extracts are used. All the flavors of the Elderflower Bubbly, for example, come from flower blossoms - lots of them. All the flavors in the Elderberry Red Table Wine come from berries at perfect stage of ripeness. Berries on an elderberry bush do not all ripen at once. During harvest, the same bushes are revisited over multiple days so that each head of berries is harvested at the right time. Please check our website www.ehrlichbros.com to find where our wines can be purchased.

Friday3 Pember First Friday GRANVILLE The Pember Library and Museum First Friday event will be held on Friday, Nov.3 and this month theme will be honor veterans who have served their country, in honor of the upcoming Veterans Day later this month. The Pember will be showcasing art created by local veterans with a reception at the library from 7-9 p.m. In the main area of the library, they will be displays of various forms of “art” created by veterans. Currently the library has three artists, two from Granville and another from Whitehall, who have already committed to showing their work. Robert Dienst’s “American Images” will be on display, sketches by George Henty, and framed works by Lee Nichols. The Pember is still looking for any and all “artistic” veterans who would like to have their art showcased for a period of two weeks, starting Nov. 1. Art of any media, from paintings to carvings and more, will be accepted Any veterans and family members of veterans are encouraged to present art. Some pieces will also be for sale, and veterans can have the opportunity to sell their art. In the Children’s Room, Ken Burns’ film “The Vietnam War” will be shown. The idea to honor veterans by displaying their artwork came from a PBS grant that the Pember applied for and did not get, so it decided to extend the opportunity to display work to all area veterans. For more information, call 518642-2525 or stop by the library during regular business hours. The Pember Library and Museum is located on 33 West Main Road, in Granville.
