The FREEPRESS • Friday, February, 2, 2018 • 3 featuring Christian worship artist Jason Fowler on Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church. Fowler has lived a life that truly reflects art with a rock-nroll lifestyle that eventually caused the artist to hit rock bottom where he says he “began recovering from a place of hopelessness.” He went from a rising star, to being homeless on the streets of Atlanta, to finding redemption through grace -- and now he shares that story through music. Fowler not only sings but plays “a mean guitar” with music that’s a blend of “southern rock and hillsong worship.” Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, 81 E. Main St, Cambridge, N.Y. Documentary Talk Pulitzer-winning historian and filmmaker Douglas Blackmon speaks about and offers a sneak peek of his documentary film “The Harvest” on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Burr & Burton Riley Center Auditorium in Manchester, Vt. The film was a 2016 recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. As a child in the Mississippi delta, Blackmon was among the first class of children to complete 12 years of education in an integrated public school system, from 1970 to 1982. The pre-

sentation, “Race at Ground Zero: Integration in Leland, Mississippi,” presents the film as it looks at the failure of public school integration and its relation to our nation’s current racial turmoil, as seen through the eyes of people born in 1964 in his hometown of Leland, Mississippi - the state’s first students to attend integrated classrooms from kindergarten to grade 12. Quilters, The Musical Music, dance, drama…and quilting! They all come together in “Quilters, the Musical” on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 3 p.m. at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert in Dorset, Vt. “Quilters” is a tender, moving play by Molly Newman and Barbara Damashek about a pioneer woman and her daughters as it blends a series of interrelated scenes into a memorable musical. Each scene is introduced by a quilt square or “block” symbolic of life’s passages. During each “block,” the actresses skillfully transform into many different characters whose stories depict the lot of women on the prairie. “Quilters” captures both the harsh challenges and the abiding rewards of frontier life with vivid dramatic intensity. Admission will be by freewill offering. All profits will be donated to the Rutland County Women’s Network & Shelter (renamed the New Story Center).
