River Festival The Eighth Annual Battenkill Runs Through It River Festival is free this year, taking place on Saturday, May 26 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Greenwich Town Beach, just north of the village on Route 29. This family friendly, riverfocused festival features the musical talent of area singers and songwriters along with heaping plates of high quality food provided by area restaurants and caterers. There’s free kayaking, canoeing and the popular “Picky Bugs” Table for science lovers of all ages. The Battenkill BBQ Plate, made up of the Salem Scouts’ famous chicken barbecue, will be available to buy for those who come with an appetite, as will other great offerings including Amigos Cantina’s famous black beans, Middle Falls Fire Department’s cole slaw and Sue Quillio’s sweet potato salad.
