Chalk Fest The Slate Valley Museum in Granville welcomes area families to the fourth annual Chalk Art Festival, which takes place on First Friday, Aug. 3, from 7 to 9 p.m.

SVM will host a friendly art competition for youth in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade where kids will have the chance to make chalk art on the museum’s sidewalks, slate stones or slate “canvases.” Activities will also include chalk drawing on slate, hopscotch and tic-tac-toe, as well as ice chalk, chalk bomb art and other art-related activities. Museum Exhibit Two exhibitions featuring women’s art open on Sunday, Aug. 5 at the Hyde Collection in Glens Falls. “Jane Peterson: At Home and Abroad” runs through Oct. 12.
