Film Fest The third annual Adirondack Film Festival, presented by the Adirondack Theatre Festival, will include more than 100 films shown in one weekend, Oct. 18-21, across six venues in downtown Glens Falls. The festival will feature a selection of more than 80 short films and 16 feature films. Through a partnership with Google Spotlight Series, AFF will screen their latest 12-minute virtual reality film, “Age of Sail.” The festival will feature a Comedy Panel with celebrity guests Sunita Mani “Glow,” Scott Rogowsky “HQ Trivia,” Ben Warheit “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” and Diane Neal “Law & Order: SVU.” Special events include an exhibition, talk and screening at the Hyde Collection, exhibits at three art galleries, three official AFF parties along with an awards ceremony and a free family series of international children’s films. Haunted Farm As the sun sets over Liberty Ridge in Schaghticoke, the farm turns into a haunted nightmare on Friday and Saturday nights in October. Dedication The public is invited to a Gold Star Memorial Dedication on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. in Congress Park, 315 Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Dating back to World War I, the term Gold Star came from the custom of families of servicemen hanging a banner in the window of their homes with a star for each family member that was serving in the Armed Forces. Living servicemen were represented by a Blue Star and those who had lost their lives by a Gold Star. Blue Star Markers have been placed in various locations since 1944 honoring Veterans who have served. The Gold Star Marker installation began in 2014 to remember our deceased Veterans and their Gold Star Families. Film & Exhibit The Hyde Collection is exhibiting a collection of French prints from the Museum’s permanent collection to accompany the Adirondack Film Festival screening of “Mrs. Hyde,” a French film about an ornery teacher who is transformed by a powerful jolt, on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 10:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The exhibition, “A Century of French Printing, 18381938,” includes 12 prints chronicling how technological advances steered the course of the medium’s evolution. As the country faced social, political, and economic changes, and rose to the height of western culture, printing allowed for the broad dissemination of art among homes of all economic classes. Parade
The Slate Valley Chapter of the Eastern Star in Granville will hold their Tea Cup Auction at their building at 97 North Street in Granville on Saturday, Oct. 27. The doors will open at 11 a.m. and drawing will begin at 1 p.m.
SUNDAY The 27th annual Greater Greenwich Chamber of Commerce Halloween Parade will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28. The parade will kick off at 1 p.m. at the corner of Washington and Main Streets and will march along Main Street to Academy Street and
