The Slate Valley Museum will host a Sip and Paint on Slate on Friday, Nov. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The class will be led by Andrea Tabor of the Traveling Paints. Attendees will create a snowy barn scene perfect for showcasing the beauty of the upcoming winter season. A traditional Sip and Paint event is centered around enjoying drinks and the company of other people while painting on a canvas to take home. The Slate Valley Museum’s event adds a twist: attendees will paint on slate, rather than canvas, much like many people in the Slate Valley community have done. A Celebration of HOPE dinner fundraiser to benefit Homes for Orphaned Pets Exist (H.O.P.E.) will be held on Friday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Saratoga National Golf Club. The special guest MC for the event will be Steve Caporizzo. The dinner will include hors d’oeuvres, gourmet food stations and desserts. All soda, beer, wine, tea, and coffee are also complimentary. Farm, lawn & garden Cambridge welcomes the Saint Petersburg Men’s Ensemble for a concert on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. The award-winning quartet from Russia will perform the masterpieces of world-class Russian choral sacred music throughout a wide range of eras, from ancient songs of the Orthodox Church to works of little-known, but remarkable composers of the 18th to 20th centuries, as well as famous masters: Bortnjansky, Tchaikovsky, Tchesnokov, Gretchaninov, Rachmaninov, Stravinsky and others. 12 MONDAY Veterans Day Veterans Day Ceremonies in Granville begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 at the monuments in front of the Granville High School. At 10 a.m. a parade will step off from the parking lot across from Genesis on E. Main St., stopping at the WWII clock to

place a wreath, then proceed to the Main Street Bridge where a small ceremony is performed for the sailors, soldiers and airmen lost at sea, which will be followed by rifle salute and taps. The ceremony at the bridge will close with the Granville Senior Band’s rendition of “The Navy Hymn.” The Color Guard will reform and proceed to Veterans Park for more ceremonies, performances by the Granville Junior-Senior Band, prayers, a rifle salute and speakers. The Granville American Legion and VFW invite all parade participants to the American Legion Post at 10 Columbus St. for lunch after the ceremony in the park.

13 TUESDAY Book Talk On Tuesday, Nov. 13, the Pawlet Library’s Tea Read Book Club invites the public to a book discussion about “Bread and Roses, Too,” from 1-2 p.m. at the library. The book, by Vermont author Katherine Paterson, is about the 1912 “Bread and Roses” strike in the Lawrence, Mass. textile mills as seen through the eyes of a young ItalianAmerican girl and a runaway boy, who are sent temporarily to a foster family in Barre, Vt. The public is invited to the Slate Valley Museum in Granville, N.Y. on Saturday, Nov. 17 to view exhibits that

Tractor Parade Celebrating Christmas country-style, the Greater Greenwich Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its sixth annual Holiday Lighted Tractor Parade on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Over 70 tractors, wagons and floats, each covered with over 1,000 holiday lights per tractor and another 1,000 lights per float will parade through the Village of Greenwich. The parade route starts at Woodlawn Ave. in Greenwich and proceeds along Church St., Main St., Washington St., Bleeker St. and Hill St. Grandstands will be set up on Main St. to announce each tractor. Santa and Mrs. Claus are always a much-anticipated part of the parade as the last tractor in the lineup. Local residents are encouraged to carpool or walk to the parade route.
