Rare Books The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls presents: “Making History: The Nuremberg and Augsburg Chronicles,” on exhibit through Dec. 30. The exhibition will showcase two copies of “Nuremberg Chronicle,” one copy of “Augsburg Chronicle,” and an extremely rare page from the historic Gutenberg Bible - all originally purchased by Hyde founder Louis Fiske Hyde, along with other rare early printed works. “Nuremberg Chronicle” is a history of the world that dates to the late-15th century, illustrated with more than 1,800 woodcut images. In the years following release of “Nuremberg Chronicle,” an Augsburg, Germany, printer abridged the text, commissioned woodcuts largely copied from the earlier book, and released a smaller format, in what could be argued to be among the earliest examples of theft of intellectual property. The Gutenberg Bible was the first substantial book printed in the West with movable metal type. Grandstands will be set up on Main Street to announce each tractor. Santa and Mrs. Claus are always a much-anticipated part of the parade as the last tractor in the lineup. He was the grandson of William Colgate, the founder of the toothpaste company and the person for whom Colgate University is named. She will share some of her research about the immigration of Colgate’s parents, his marriage to Hope Conkling and the choices their four daughters made in their lives, but most of all their impact on Bennington.
