New owner reopens the "Bog Restaurant and Bar" Mark Harwood, owner of Harwood Construction, became the new owner of the Bog Restaurant and Bar in Cambridge, after the death of former owner Patrick Guidon. Fiber Tour Washington County will sponsor its 27th annual fiber tour on Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. While wool from sheep may be the best-known animal fiber, Washington County prides itself on the diverse farms that raise everything from angora rabbits and cashmere goats to alpacas and several breeds of sheep. Attendees will learn about an industry that has enjoyed a renaissance in recent years and can visit a local commercial fiber processing facility, Battenkill Fibers Carding and Spinning Mill in Greenwich. In addition to the fiber mill, ten farms will open their doors for the weekend: Dancing Ewe sheep farm in Granville; Quarry Ridge alpacas in Salem; Fiber Kingdom angora rabbits in Salem; Moments in Time sheep farm in Salem; Alpacas of Haven Hill in Greenwich; Ensign Brook sheep farm in Greenwich; Wedding Hill Farm, LLC sheep farm in Greenwich; Dandy Gander alpaca farm in North Granville; St. Mary’s on the Hill cashmere goats in Greenwich; and Elihu sheep farm in Easton. Each year, team members participate in the Rick Rispante Memorial Walk/5K in memory of Florence VanGuilder Siliski. All proceeds will be contributed to Northeast Kidney
the equipment firefighters use. Booths will be set up to showcase the abilities of the firefighters, and equipment demonstrations will be performed. These will provide visitors with a glimpse of the techniques and tools firefighters use in the course of their duties. Volunteers also will be able to discuss the requirements for becoming a member as well as what it means to be a volunteer firefighter. Volunteer fire companies throughout the state have experienced a decline in participation rates over recent years. This open house is part of a statewide recruiting initiative sponsored by the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York. One or more sides of the box may be removed. All visible parts of the diorama should be decorated, and all characters in the scene should be made using Peeps. Antiques Fair Washington County Fairgrounds will host the Antique Fair and Flea Market on Saturday, May 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 5,
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair hosts an average of more than 220 vendors from around the United States and Canada. Dealers bring their treasured antiques, collectibles and crafts. The Washington County fair and flea market is the weekend before the big Brimfield flea market in Massachusetts, meaning that many items will appear for sale in Washington County for the
first time at any show. Admission: $4 general admission, $3 for seniors 65 years and older, free for children younger than 14. Tickets are good for both days of the fair. Washington County Fairgrounds, 392 Old Schuylerville Rd., Greenwich, New York.
