Fort Salem Cabaret SALEM Former Fort Salem A r t i s t i c Director Kathy Beaver returns to the stage on Saturday, April 23 at 8 p.m. for an encore performance of her autobiographical cabaret, “I’m Flying.” The show was created by Ms. Beaver and director Tony Parise. Kathy Beaver sold out two cabaret shows in 2009 with her
tale of turning lemon into lemonade. Her Fort Salem performance this year comes in advance of her bringing the show to the Manhattan cabaret circuit. Back in 2006, Ms. Beaver was a working New York City violinist and singer, starring in a production of “Gypsy” in California when she slipped and fell off the stage. A severe injury to her violin-playing arm prompted her to seek alternate employment. With nothing to lose, she returned to a girlhood fantasy and embarked a new career of flight attendant for JetBlue Airways. In “I’m Flying,” Kathy Beaver tells her story using songs from her favorite theatrical roles in “Gypsy,” “Funny Girl,” “Peter Pan” and “Sweet Charity,” in addition to a tune by Patsy Cline, whom she portrayed on the Fort Salem Mainstage. Ms. Beaver was just a teen when her father Quentin Beaver started working at Fort Salem, which was a new theater in the former Presbyterian Church. Her return to the stage on which she trained pays tribute to the roles she grew into, perfected, and later directed others in. Cost of the cabaret is $20, and includes music, coffee and dessert. For more information, call 518-854-9200 or visit www.fortsalemtheater.com.

~ Eye On Business ~
Jacki Schultz is very excited to let everyone know about her new business in Greenwich. She has been a hairstylist since 1987, and will be doing business at Shear Creations at 31 Main Street. She is originally from Easton, but moved to NH when she was ten. When she got married in 2002, she and her husband Lyle moved back to Easton where they live now with their two young children. Since Jacki has been back, she has been doing hair in Saratoga and has been waiting for an opportunity that would allow her to work much closer to home. The Greenwich/Easton area is such an amazing community and Jacki wants very much to be a part of it on a professional level as well as personally. When she walked into Kathy Lacy’s fabulous salon, Shear Creations, she felt right at home and knows you will too! While Jacki is transitioning from the Saratoga salon to Shear Creations, her hours will be varied. She is starting off with Mondays & Wednesdays from 9:30-2:00, and can do evening hours by appointment. She will also be doing some Saturdays when she is able. Jacki’s long term goal is to be doing 3-4 days during the week, one evening and Saturdays by appointment by this fall. She does men’s, women’s and children’s cuts, and her specialty is color. She also does facial waxing and perms. Please feel free to stop in and say hello. The salon number is 6920092 and you can also call Jacki at 692-8681 to set up appointments. She is also more than happy to talk to you on the phone and answer any questions you may have. Jacki looks forward to meeting you!
