Antique and classic car show reaches milestone By Matthew Rice The Manchester Antique and Classic Car Show reaches a milestone June 11 and 12 as the show celebrates 25 years of crowd-pleasing automobilethemed fun. “Some of our attendees tell us they look forward to Manchester Antique and Classic Car Show every year, it’s their favorite car show event,” Manchester and the Mountains Regional Chamber of Commerce director of membership and visitor services Beth Meachem said. “People love the new venue, they love the location surrounded by the mountains and close to town,” she said. The Manchester and the Mountains Chamber of Commerce welcomes the Sleek Mercedes and Chic Corvette as our featured marques at this year’s event at the Dorr Farm on Route 30 in Manchester. Don’t miss this weekend of nos-
talgia as great cars of the past are dusted off and taken on a road trip to Manchester. “We have been told that we’re the best dust-off show in the area,” Meachem said. This show is often the first time a lot of these cars are out for the season so there’s a great excitement among the collectors because the season has just started and the weather is just starting to cooperate, Meachem said. Land Rover Driving School returns as presenting sponsor for this commemorative event. Fun activities are planned for the weekend guaranteed to bring back memories and create new ones. Land Rover will be offering attendees of the show an opportunity to climb behind the wheel of one of their vehicles on a specially designed course on the show field. Back by popular demand are the Saturday afternoon parade

Katz to show off children’s book Well-known local author Jon Katz is pursuing another direction in his latest book, and he will be at the Northshire Bookstore in Manchester Center at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 28, to talk about it. Don’t worry, he’s still writing about dogs, but this time it’s for a much younger audience. Katz, who was in the New York City area last weekend on a book tour, has written a picture book about his familiar dogs -- Rose, Izzy, Frieda, and Lenore – titled “Meet The Dogs of Bedlam Farm.” In the book, Katz explains a lot about each dog, including what its job on the farm is. And, Just as each dog has a different role on the farm, each has a unique story. And Lenore’s
job—providing, love, acceptance, and patience in the lives of her family—may be the greatest work of all. Filled with his captivating photographs, the heartwarming account of the Bedlam Farm family of dogs is unforgettable. Join us for this special event, Jon will be giving a talk, showing a short video and bringing one of the dogs at the center of the story
Katz has written many books for adults, including Izzy and Lenore and Dog Days, both New York Times bestsellers. His book A Dog Year was made into a film starring Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges and aired on HBO. Katz has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Slate, Rolling Stone, Wired, and more. He has worked for CBS News, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Meet the Dogs of Bedlam Farm is his first book for children. You can learn more about Jon and the dogs by visiting his Web site, www.bedlamfarm.com. His blog, the bedlam farm journal, is followed by
