Students lead in all aspects of the Students’ Union. A range of elections, key roles, committees and consultations make sure that student leadership and decision making is at the heart of everything that we do. The Exec Team are eight students that are elected by students to work full time for you. Elected in March, and working summer to summer, the Exec Team are either taking time out from their studies or have just finished their degrees, and lead on implementing your ideas, running Students’ Union campaigns, supporting student led activities and raising your voice with the University at every level.

Decisions about what the Students’ Union should believe and take action on are made at the Students’ Union Senate. The Students’ Union elected Exec Team and Officers sit on Senate and are held accountable to students there. They are joined by: • A rep from each JCR/Residents’ Association • Student media Editors and Managers • The Chairs of RAG, Student Action and Access All Areas • Representatives of off-campus students, student parents, student carers, part-time students, mature students and distance learners • Representatives of each society category Each Senate will also include 20 students chosen at random that broadly reflect the demographics of our student population.
