DRAGONS IN THE COMMUNITY Recognizing that true ownership to any sports team lies with the citizens in the community, the Dragons are proud to have initiated many programs that directly promote, highlight, and give back to those in our community.

Take a look through the following pages to see what we have already accomplished.

MVP PROGRAM The Dragons MVP Program uses the marketing power of the Dragons as an educational tool for 35,000 fourth and fifth grade students in more than 1,100 Miami Valley classrooms. The program allows teachers to motivate and reward students in their classroom at no cost to them. Fourth and fifth grade teachers in a five-county area (Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, and Warren) receive an award kit to recognize five students in their classroom for any reason they see fit. Each student honored as a Dayton Dragons MVP by their teacher receives rewards including: tickets to a game for themselves and their family, a Dragons MVP hat and certificate, and a special field day at the ballpark with the entire Dragons team and other MVP award winners. Throughout the summer, Dragons MVP schools are selected to receive visits from Dragons players and mascots. Ten MVPs across the Miami Valley are selected to appear in local newspaper ads and the Playball! game program. Plus, at each of the eight MVP game nights, we select an MVP to throw out a first pitch, deliver the official lineup card, deliver the game ball, or become a Jr. PA Announcer! Each fourth and fifth grade teacher also receives a certificate to attend a MVP Dragons game with their family. They also will get to attend the MVP Field Day so that they can interact with their MVP students and their parents as well as experience what their students experience.

SUITE DONATIONS For many seasons the Dragons have worked with charitable organizations that oversee children, as well as organizations that are looking to raise much needed funds for their cause. The Dragons donate several suites each season for children and their mentors/ caregivers - who might not be able to attend a game - to attend a game in grand style. Included are game tickets, souvenirs, catered meals, and a visit from a Dragons mascot.

The Dragons have also provided some suite nights for charities and organizations to use to raise funds via auctions and raffles at their fundraising events.

donations GIFT BAG DONATIONS One of the core values of the Dayton Dragons is making an impact in the community. Each year the Dragons provide Dragons Gift Bags full of memorabilia as donations to local groups and charities for different events.

Spotlight oN THE COMMUNITY

COMMUNITY ALL-STARS

The Dragons Community All-Stars Program honored individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of their civic duty to improve the quality of life in the Miami Valley. These amazing stories were shared in our PlayBall! game program and at games in front of a sold out Dragons crowd.

HOMETOWN HEROES PROGRAM

The Dayton Dragons are proud to shine the spotlight on the military through our Hometown Heroes program. This season-long tribute honors veteran causes and organizations, welcomes back deployed, and hosts families of those deployed at every game. In addition, there is an “American Celebration night at the end of the season where the entire game is themed with military appreciation events.

HOME RUN FOR LIFE

The Home Run for Life Program honored five children who have recently overcome, or might still be battling, a life-threatening medical condition. These kids were able to take a symbolic home run lap around the bases during a sold out Dragons game, while players from both teams gave them high fives as they rounded the bases. At home plate, they were greeted by friends and family, as well as the medical team who helped them get healthy and back in the game.

VETERAN SALUTE

The Veteran Salute program highlights five veterans' stories during the course of each season. Veterans who are chosen are honored at a Dragons game with an in-game ceremony and provided with VIP treatment during their special night.

COMMUNITY

GROUP PARTNERSHIPS In 2018, our ticketing fundraising program helped raise over $47,000 to charities/nonprofit organizations across the greater Dayton region by helping them coordinate a great fundraising group outing at a Dragons game. Here are some of the great organizations that we’re involved with.

PLAYERs & MASCOTS

IN THE COMMUNITY Over 2,000 visits have been made by players, front office executives, and mascots to festivals, schools, and hospitals during the Dragons 19 years in Dayton.

WE DO A LOT IN OUR COMMUNITY,

BUT WE WANT TO DO EVEN MORE!

Sports teams have a greater power to influence people and impact their lives differently than other types of businesses.

From the very start, the Dragons made it a point to be more involved in our community than any sports team across the country. We knew that to succeed and to help this region grow, we would have to play an active role in the lives of our fans, and not just when they attend one of our games. The Dayton Dragons Foundation is central to our organization’s effort to be involved in the community. The Foundation provides necessary funding and resources to support the countless donations, charitable giving requests, in-kind donations, unique game experiences, and community-wide programs (such as the Dragons MVP program) which the Dragons support every year. We know our work will never be complete when it comes to building ourselves into the fabric of the Dayton region. Every year, we strive to do more and make a larger impact through our position as Dayton’s hometown team, but we need your assistance to help build the Dayton Dragons Foundation and continue to grow our involvement in the community. By supporting the Dragons Foundation, you will assist us with providing those in our community the ability to attend Dragons games, support charitable programs, and give back to those in our community.
