Details Hack the Ride is a free, two-day long Hackathon that brings together creative and inquisitive minds to develop new mobile apps that will improve the motorcycle urban riding experience. On February 22-23, at the Mobile World Centre, in Barcelona, more than 150 ride hackers will gather for a non-stop 24-hour marathon. Developers, designers and motorcycle users, all will be together at the same place for a fun and intense session of co-creation, hacking and collaboration. The goal of Hack The Ride is to attract creative people (anyone interested in the intersection of motorcycle riding, cities, coding, and design, is welcome) to build cutting edge, innovative mobile applications for urban motorcycle riding. Besides the fun and excitement to be part of this unique event, cool prizes will be awarded to the developers of the best apps. There will be cash prizes, BMW equipment and finisher prizes for all the hackers. At the end of the event, the participants – individuals or teams – will present publicly their urban motorcycle app to BMW Motorrad and a selected jury of app and motorcycle experts. Thanks to our partners, participants will have the opportunity to access important information while developing their apps. BMW will open its Vehicle Data System and so, hackers will be able to access operational data from BMW motorbikes, including the new BMW electrical scooter, C Evolution. On the other hand, and because this a hackathon focus on urban riding, Barcelona City Council will contribute to this event by facilitating access to its Open Datasets. The deadline for submission of applications and registration is February 17, at 5 p.m. (UTC/GMT +1, Barcelona Time). This Hackathon is an event powered by BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle brand of the German company BMW, and organized by La Mandarina de Newton.
